Today in this PayPal donation button tutorial, I share how to collect donations on any website.
PayPal allows you to simply create a free donation button that you can then embed onto any website.
I share how you can embed the PayPal donation button on WordPress, Google Sites and Wix.
Although this is free to set up on any type of website, it is important to note that PayPal will charge a fee on each donation processed (PayPal Personal and Business).

Hi Stewart, It was a very helpful watch! I have recently helped my Church set up a website, and I was trying to add an option to donate. I have done it before, but I was a bit confused with the actual method. Your video cam at just the right time. I will be using it as a reference to learn and apply it to the website I built. Hey nice tutorial. Just wanna ask, a client wants me to store user details like name email etc along with he wants to see all the transactions stored in db and fetch with the help of transaction id. BTW he has more than 3 amount options. How to achieve this?

This is a great video. In the US we have a 501c3 organization and we can issue thank you letters to the donor. That letter, in turn, is presented for tax benefits at the end of the year. Is there a way to auto generate a form letter thanking the donor for their donation? Or does PayPal do this automatically in the receipt that is sent to the donor after donation?

To get the donate button, do you need a business account? The UI is different for me.

Hey mate, You can use both. However, the business account will offer more features in regards to the donation button.

Hi, Stewart. I'm currently building a site for a client in Tanzania. I've tried using their paypal to create 'donate' and 'buy now' buttons but it says those buttons are not available in their region. I can only create 'smart buttons' from their paypal account. Is there a way to go around this coz it works perfectly for my country. Otherwise, thanks for the great tutorial.

Hey mate, That feature sounds like it is limited in their country. You could try using Stripes version.

Sure. That is quite simple. Just create a button on Canva and link it to the donation page that you make on PayPal.

I have a business account and the UI is completely different. I did find the donate app and when clicked on it just sends me back to the dashboard (stuck in a loop). Can anyone advise? I finally found the buttons page clicked on donate and get the same loop right back to the dashboard. I give up.

Hi there, great video thank you. The PayPal experience for charities has gotten so much better over the years. I am confused about one thing still, in the UK. The PayPal Giving Fund doesn't charge fees, they make that quite clear. They also make it clear that if you have a charity account then the fees are 1.4% plus 20 of each transaction. Which is true? Is it free or is there a charity rate transaction fee? Any help you can offer is so very gratefully received :)

I think I have it in my head now. PayPal Giving Fund is free but they are not a payment merchant, so they will still use a payment merchant to pay you - and in their case it is PayPal. So although they are free we will still be charged by PayPal to receive the money (1.4% plus 20p).

@@fundacionlahuellaroja4241 as I understand it, the difference between them is that anyone on your website can use the donate button and there is the fee PayPal charges you, but where the Giving Fund is concerned, while you don't get charged, the donor has to have a PayPal account and register you as on of their charities. Correct?

@@StewartGauld Already spent weeks trying. They put unexperienced messengers on the phones and won't allow you to speak to the decision makers to identify what detail they think is missing. For example they insisted on a photo of our storefront and cannot fathom that a Service Club does not have one.
