Hi Mike, The Smart Button checks back with PayPal constantly to make sure everything is working as PayPal thinks it should be. So: 1. Make sure there are no restrictions on your PayPal account. If there are, see this article: www.paypal.com/be/smarthelp/article/how-do-i-remove-the-restriction-from-my-account-faq2189 2. Make sure the Live Client ID you've replace the "sb" part with, is an _exact_ copy of the one PayPal gave you. If not the pop-up will cancel (disappear) when checked for authenticity. 3. Try one of the simpler, stand-alone, non-smart buttons, that doesn't require API calls to work. 4. If you still want to use the Smart Button though, and you have no restrictions on your account and the Live Client ID is correct, it's time to contact PayPal support here: www.paypal.com/au/smarthelp/home Hope this helps Mike.

Thank you for the beautiful comment Robyn! 💜 And thank you for your great suggestion for a future video. 😃 To add a PayPal smart button to your WordPress site, do the steps in the video up to the 04:15 mark, where you press "Copy Code" on the PayPal website, then do the following 10 steps: 1. Paste the code into a text editor such as Notepad and save it. Note: This step isn't vital, but helpful if anything goes wrong in the later steps. 2. Log into your WordPress site. 3. From the Dashboard go to Pages > All pages. 4. Select the page you want to add the Smart Button code to. 5. Press "Edit." 6. Edit the page in HTML mode by switching from visual to HTML. 7. Paste the PayPal Button code onto the page where you want it to appear. 8. Update the page. 9. Preview the page and make sure it's orientation looks right. 10. Test the "Pay with PayPal" and "Debit or Credit" buttons and make sure all of the details such as the description, price, tax, etc., are correct. Hope this helps Robyn.

Hello tracey, thanks for this nice tutorial! the only drawback is that I can't see at the confirmation what the person has ordered, and one more question can I also adjust the shipping costs in the web code or do I have to create a whole new button? thanks in advance !
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Год назад
Hi Leeuwarden, Thank you! You're welcome! If you have a PayPal business account, when a client orders something from you, you’ll get a "Payment Received" email to your email account. That email has a table at the bottom of the email that gives you the Description, Unit price, Qty and Amount of the client’s order. That said, we did have one email where that table was missing, so we didn’t know what the person had ordered. We can only assume that occasionally PayPal’s system glitches and doesn’t include those details. Contact PayPal on those few occasions and they can get you the details. If they can’t help you, you’ll have to contact the client directly to find out what they ordered. Embarrassing we know, but better than missing out on the order. On shipping cost, if you can code, you can include almost anything in the code you embed onto your website. As we can’t code, we can’t give you any direct advice on that. And if you are going to add an extensive amount of code, you may be better off creating a whole new button for every different shipping instance. You might also want to check out our video on “How to Create a PayPal Add to Cart Button” as that might give you the solution you’re looking for: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C-thWrCUYFs.html Hope this helps Leeuwarden and we wish you success on your online journey.

Thank you for this! I have a question thu, what if I have multiple products with different prices, do I have to create as many smart buttons?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Год назад
Hi Shickler, you're welcome 😃 Yes, you would have to create multiple Smart buttons. However, the PayPal 'Smart' button is recommended for those who sell only a few simple products or want a donation. If you have more than a few products, and want to offer your customer the option to checkout with many products, all at once (in one checkout), then we would recommend using the ‘Add to Cart’ button for your store. This will allow your customer to buy a combination of products from different categories and pages, all within one order. Using the ‘Add to Cart’ button, you’re able to create a shopping cart (for multiple products) which would probably work better than the ‘Smart’ button, which is best used for single products only. This allows your customer to go back and add more products to their cart, before paying and in doing so, streamlines the entire shopping experience for them. You will need to create a different button for each product, but this is the case with any online store. For each product you have, you need a button. To learn more about the ‘Add to Cart’ button we've made a video on that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C-thWrCUYFs.html Hope this helps!

As far as we know you can't customize the email from PayPal. The only way we know of to send an automated custom email after payment would be through a paid ecommerce solution, such as Wix, Shopify etc., that handles the whole checkout system for you in one place. Such platforms give you more control over these functions and would include everything for the ordering process including product pages, checkout system, payment processing, emails and order tracking etc. But unfortunately PayPal doesn't offer this.

Hi, you're very welcome! We're so glad it was helpful 😃 Sorry to hear it isn't working for you. When it comes to pasting code into your website, there is a key thing to remember and that is that if you change even just one character, that shouldn't be changed, or delete something that needs to be there, it will break the button, and won't perform as it should. It's possible that this is the reason why, but unfortunately, it's very hard to troubleshoot without looking at it. Facts I can't access pay & get paid there's only pay
@sixstanger00
@sixstanger00 Год назад
How does this work for shopping cart applications though? My website allows customers to design/order screen printed apparel, so obviously no two order amounts are going to be the same. I need PayPal to handle the transaction, but the transaction amount is dynamically generated (depending on what they're ordering). This approach seems a bit redundant, as you've got to generate a separate button for each individual item in your store. My website uses a "shopping cart" approach, where the user builds an order and then "checkout" is the final step, and I need PP to capture payment for the full cart total.
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Год назад
Hi Sixstanger00, yes you're right that this approach is tedious for those with larger stores that need to generate a lot of buttons and have dynamic pricing based on variable product options. However, we do mention that at the beginning of the video, and only recommend this method for those with smaller stores and low start up budgets. This button doesn't provide you with an entire e-commerce solution. But it does allow you to take payments on your website with no upfront setup costs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C-thWrCUYFs.html From what you've said that you need, this system would work, but there are many paid shopping cart integrations that plug into PayPal more seamlessly and easily, which would work better.

Very helpful tutorial - thank you! I know that PayPal will email a response to me after a client submits a payment - but is there any way that PayPal can communicate a response back - either directly to the client's browser, or via an api back to my own web server. Some sort of response code to indicate if transaction was successful or not?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Год назад
Hi, thanks for your question. As far as we know there isn't a way to do make PayPal communicate a response back as such but it could be possible with programming knowledge. Alternatively, you could use a third-party automation platform that performs an action (such as a 'response') based on events (such as a 'successful payment') Basically, the automation software is connected to your PayPal account and your email program. You then use the software to trigger your Email account to send an automated email every time you receive a payment to your PayPal account. There are 3 automation platforms that we think would work well for what you want to do: 1. www.zapier.com 2. www.automate.io 3. www.make.com (Also known as Integromat) PayPal is considered a premium app with Zapier and Automate, so you would need a paid plan to make it work with them. But Make.com has a free plan that will work with PayPal. However, Zapier looks to be the easiest to use... but is the most expensive. Automate is affordable with plans starting at $9 / month. And Make has, as I mentioned, has a limited free plan, which you could use to make this work. But we did find it to have more of a learning curve than the other two. All of them, of course, have a learning curve though. If you are going to use Make.com, we recommend you watch these videos first: 1. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AmILvt7zRJs.html 2. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V99tPHcqHzE.html Hope this helps!

I have an education site, so my products are services rather than physical items. In a non-shopping cart scenario like mine, how do you determine whether the buyer's payment was approved or not? If approved, how do you redirect them to, in my case, the lesson page? How do you prevent the tech savvy buyer from 'viewing' the page, obtaining your client-id and forwarding URL to bypass the payment page altogether? Thanks for any help.
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Год назад
Hi Jeff, Great question! I can only give general educational advice of course, as I'm not a qualified business advisor. That said, building an educational site with the requirements you're specifying, these simple stand-alone PayPal buttons won't be able to do what you need, unless you are able to code them to do more. And even If coding is an option for you, it will require so much expertise and upkeep, you'd probably be better off paying for an already-built e-commerce system that does what you need out-of-the-box, such as WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Shopify. A quick comparison of these three is: 1. WooCommerce - the cheapest (free), but it has the greatest learning curve of the three. 2. BigCommerce - cheaper overall than Shopify but with a greater the learning curve than Shopify. 3. Shopify - the easiest to implement, but the most expensive solution, in our opinion, over the long term. I'd contact each of their customer-service departments and ask specific questions about whether they can do what you need, especially asking if their software can detect when payments are made, and if so, whether it then able to redirect customers to specific "paid only" pages. Hope this helps.

@websitewiz Год назад
Hi, you're welcome! 😃 Redirecting to a secure confirmation page which includes a secure download link is an advanced feature and would require some server-side coding to make it work. If you're not familiar with coding, your best bet would be to pay for a premium solution that includes this download option as part of your website builder. E.g. a Wordpress plugin, or a Wix business plan etc. where it's all taken care of for you. If you go the coding route, the first thing we'd recommend is using PayPal's 'Buy Now' or 'Add to Cart' buttons. Not the 'Smart' button. Reason being is that they both include a 'redirect to URL after payment' option when setting up the buttons. You could include a URL where your digital product is located. That said, to make it secure you'd still need to do some custom coding. And unfortunately we don't have the coding skills to tell you how to do this. Hello thanks for this How can i know checkout in sandbox Paypal account through express
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Месяц назад
Hi Salaudeen, thanks for your question! To determine if your PayPal account is in Sandbox mode, you can look for a few key indicators: 1. **URL Check**: Check the URL when you are logged in. If the URL contains "sandbox.paypal.com", you are in the Sandbox environment. The regular PayPal accounts operate under "paypal.com". 2. **Dashboard Appearance**: When you log into the PayPal Sandbox environment, the interface typically mentions "Sandbox" somewhere on the dashboard, often at the top or in the account overview section. 3. **Email Notifications**: If you receive email notifications from PayPal and they mention "Sandbox" or "Test Email" within the subject or body, it's a clear indication that the actions are being performed in a Sandbox environment. 4. **Testing Features**: If you're able to perform tests without real money transactions and with test data, such as using test credit card numbers, this is another sign that you're in the Sandbox environment. If you're developing or testing integrations and you're unsure or need to switch between modes, you might need to log out from one environment and log in to another with the appropriate credentials. Hope this helps!

@websitewiz

Hi Melvin, with the modern website builders they usually code the buttons directly into their own systems automatically, meaning you wouldn't use your existing PayPal buttons anymore. You would just need to add your email address / PayPal account name to your website builder account settings and they do the rest. By the sounds of it your current website is using standalone PayPal buttons, which wouldn't be necessary with the newer website builders. Hope this helps answer your question.

But I'm having problem with the checkout page, it says the merchant doesn't accept payment of your currency or something like that but I have enabled accepting different currencies in payment preferences and also my primary currency USD and also I live in India so it is kind confusing for me as Paypal don't accept payment in INR I guess. I'm really not getting what to do, do you have any suggestion?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 2 года назад
Thanks Sangram! We're glad it was helpful. Unfortunately, from 1 April, 2021, as per the following article on PayPal's site: developer.paypal.com/docs/regional/in/ "PayPal will no longer offer domestic payment services in India. As a result of this, PayPal Payments Private Limited users cannot use Indian rupees (INR) to receive payments. This change, however, has no impact on PayPal’s international services. Users in India can continue to send and receive international payments in US dollars (USD)." So, if you need payments in INR then PayPal won't work for you, and we'd suggest you research alternative payment gateways such as Razorpay, Cashfree, etc. We're not financial advisers, but as fellow website builders, we'd suggest you google "best payment gateway to use in India," weigh up the pros and cons of the ones that fit your basic needs, such as being able to accept payments in INR, pick the one that is the best fit, and then work from there. Sorry we couldn't be of more help.

how does the api know what the payment is for and what to do after the payment is made? for instance, allow access to a webpage after payment
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 10 месяцев назад
Hi Mike, Using the Smart button shown in this video, PayPal only knows what the payment is for based on the info you provide when setting up the button - in the field 'Item Description'. It's in no way connected to your website or dynamic products on your site. It's a standalone button on PayPal only. Once a payment is complete using the button, PayPal displays a successful payment message. If you need to redirect your customers to another page after they purchase, then we recommend using a different button for that. The 'Smart' button requires coding to make that work. So the easiest way would be to use another button that allows redirection to another page as part of setting up your button. You can do this easily using PayPal's 'Buy Now' or 'Add to Cart' buttons. These are located on the same page as the ‘Smart’ button of your PayPal account, as shown in the video. There is a field listed for redirection. This is the easiest way we have found to redirect a customer to another page after purchase. Please note that it is not a secure link. Meaning that once a person knows the redirection URL, when they land on it, they will be able to access it anytime. If you want a more secured option, where the URL only loads after confirming that a person is a paying customer, this would need to be coded in and required a more advanced setup. If you're not familiar with coding, in that case you'd be best to pay for a third party platform to manage this function for you and avoid the standalone PayPal buttons altogether. We hope this helps answer your question.

Hi Lamia, thanks for your questions. The PayPal 'Smart' button unfortunately can't be used to checkout multiple products. But there is another button which can do that, which is the ‘Add to Cart’ button. Using the ‘Add to Cart’ button, you’re able to create a shopping cart (for multiple products). This allows your customer to go back and add more products to their cart, before paying. With this button you can give the customer the choice to pay with PayPal or through a guest checkout using credit card only. This button allows you to add a shipping cost, but unfortunately it is not a very practical solution. The ‘Add to Cart’ button is located on the same page as the ‘Smart’ button of your PayPal account, as shown in the video. There is also a ‘View Cart’ button which you would place in the header of your site, that allows your customer to view their shopping cart while they’re shopping. In fact, we are currently working on a new video to show you how to create this 'Add to Cart' button and put it on your website, so we'll send you a link once that's live on our channel.

Hi Bharat, *What is live webhooks?* To summarize Wikipedia, a webhook is a method of increasing the usefulness of a web page or web app by triggering actions based on an initial action. An action completed by the user starts the process. In the case of Cookies, the action can be as simple as just visiting the site. That one action triggers one or more messages to be sent to one or more other places on the web, triggering even more actions, and so on and so on. Some simple examples of webhooks are: • A comment being posted to a blog ticks up the count of comments by one. • Cookies that track where you go and what you do online. • A date and time on your calendar app that triggers an alarm on your computer and an email sent to your email account, reminding you of an appointment. • A sale on your shopping website triggering an email to be sent to the client confirming their order and another to you, to your fulfilment department and to your shipping department. • A new sign-up triggers a welcome email to be sent to the new subscriber. *Is it mandatory to fill?* As to what is mandatory to fill, I don’t know Bharat? You’ll have to provide more information. Thanks. Hope this helps.

But the exact rates may vary depending on your banking location and other factors, such as your customer's location etc. Best bet would be to do a Google search for "PayPal Merchant Fees (ADD YOUR COUNTRY)" for more info or contact PayPal direct: www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/contact-us Hope this helps!

"Hi Malibamat, thanks for your question. To test in sandbox mode, simply go ahead and create your button without creating a live app. I cover this in the video from 53 seconds onwards here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9p-kA20-Bgg.html If you have already created a live app, you can change your button's code manually to the sandbox setting by changing your Client-ID to ""sb" as shown in the video from 5:28 here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9p-kA20-Bgg.html"

Is there a way to do with where you have a redirect link after payment?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Год назад
Hi, thanks for your question. If you need to redirect your customers to another page after payment then we recommend using a different button for that. We have a video on those buttons here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C-thWrCUYFs.html This is the easiest way we have found to redirect a customer to another page after purchase. We hope this helps!

Hi, thank you for your request. Unfortunately we are not yet well versed in Shopify, but we did find a great answer on a forum that may help: community.shopify.com/c/shopify-design/i-want-to-add-paypal-smart-payment-buttons/m-p/743915#M185742 PayPal has a solution to your question and that is here: www.paypal.com/c2/webapps/mpp/integrating-shopify?locale.x=en_C2 And Shopify also has an answer: help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/paypal If we do a video on this for you, we'll let you know in this comment thread. When I put the code into my squarespace website it says "script disabled" any ideas on how to fix it? The Embed option only has a URL option. Thanks!
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 2 года назад
Hi Tess, thanks for the great question. It took quite a bit of researching but it was great; we learned heaps doing it. Are you using a Personal Plan? If so, Squarespace will not let you use tags on your website, and therefore they will not work. If you're using a free trial or a Business Plan or above, "Script Disabled" is coming up automatically. It's the default message when you paste in scripts in edit mode. Squarespace does this to avoid scripts that cause problems while you're in edit mode. If so, try these 4 steps: 1. Choose "HTML" in the code block where you are going to insert the code, whether it's HTML or not. 2. Do NOT check Display Source. 3. Click the "Preview in safe mode" button. 4. Click the "Exit safe mode" button. The button should now be there. If not, log out (of edit mode) and refresh the page. Is the button there now? If it's not there while logged out, open an incognito window and check if it's there. Hope this helps Tess. But if the button's still not there, let us know and we'll investigate further.

Very well tutorial but my account showed me not the option to create the button in the menu bar from Pay&Get Paid, after created the app. Any Idea why?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 5 месяцев назад
Hi there, thanks for your feedback. You can also access the buttons page by going to >> paypal.com/buttons if the option is not showing in your menu bar. However, PayPal has changed the process since we originally created this video 2 years ago. So once you go to the buttons page, it may redirect to you to a Developers page. It appears that all PayPal buttons now need to be coded in directly. If you'd like to avoid coding your buttons, or are not familiar with how to do it, you could set up your buttons using a website service like Wix, or Squarespace that makes this easy. Hope this helps!

Hi Keyser, thank you so much. Your acknowledgments get better and better 🤩 We love the community aspect of RU-vid too. Mostly everyone here seems to want to help each other and we love that. We did a couple of RU-vid training courses to help us with our video formatting in the beginning, and found them both very helpful. We first did the "New RU-vid Academy" course by Kevin - The Basic Filmmaker. And then his "Front Side of the Lens" course. Our affiliate link is: paulandtracey.co/basic-filmmaker-university Both were very good. He also has a lot of free courses over at his Filmmaker University: www.basicfilmmakeruniversity.com/ And there's a lot of great free content on his RU-vid channel here as well: ru-vid.com/show-UCx5KB2QDUDH-o8PFnF3yJCQ Then we signed up for a monthly subscription to Primal Video's Accelerator program. They helped us to develop our keyword research skills, as well as some successful actions to do with thumbnails and general video structure/presentation. Primal Video's Accelerator program is currently closed for new enrolments. But you can join the waitlist and they open it twice a year for new students: primalvideo.com/waitlist-accelerator/

Hello! Thanks for sharing. I wonder is there any way to implement coupon/discount codes with PayPal smart button?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 2 года назад
Hi Marych, you're welcome! Unfortunately the Smart button can't be linked to coupon/discount codes. The only way to do that would be through a third party e-commerce platform that integrates the coupon/discount codes before you get to the payment page. Sorry we couldn't help more.
