Thank you for the instruction! Picked up 27 old mags at a yard sale for 2 bucks apiece because the weren't feeding correctly. Using your method all but 2 of them fire like they're brand new. Thanks again
Dropped a mag in a gutter full of water this morning. Hadn't cleaned a mag in a while so I tried but didn't wanna force it. Googled "disassemble colt magazine" and found this vid. Perfect! Thanks! Subscribed.
I didn't know how to do it until I watched. My particular mag appeared to have a different spring. (Factory Colt series 80) Mine went with the angle of the mag instead of against it to put the loop forward. Regardless, I finally got it cleaned. Plenty of gunk in there too. Thanks.
Thank you, had problems reassembling my Remington r1 9mm mag and this helped. My only bad comment is if you think hoppes is badass... use clp. That stuff is amazing and lubricates EVERYTHING even parts you can't reach with out more disassembly
Hey thanks for the vid! I always clean my wilson combat mags because they are easy to disassemble however the old govt model ones don't get as much attention. No longer the case. Good vid!
I appreciate you sharing I've never cleaned my mags and lately they've been sounding pretty gritty glad you shared I can completely field strip my 1911 but never thought about how to strip the mags! Again thank you sir I appreciate the video and I laughed at the crs joke I have those days especially when its early before my coffee. Stay safe and keep shooting brother
Thank you for taking the time to write this nice comment, Donnie. I'm always happy to hear from people saying that this video helped them clean their magazines. Happy shooting!
I’ve got two 7 round mags that I found in a basement ceiling at a remodel job site. Owner said they weren’t his and I could have them. Here I am several years later having some financial trouble because I’ve got health issues, and I remember these magazines. Turns out they’re authentic WWII era mags and sell for around $50 on eBay lol. I’m cleaning them up and I was thinking huh, they’re welded up, can’t take them apart. But wait. How did they put them together then? You answered my question. Now I can clean them properly for whoever buys them.
Thanks for the info. Taught this old dog something. Went to range, did a few basic combat shooting exercises, dropped mags for quick reload. Didn't think nothing of it so when I got home I started the cleaning process, didn't clean mags, loaded er up and ftf on every mag. Now I can clean them and VOILA, this requires another trip to the range, thanks for showing the process. L.
Nice! You're very welcome. I'm so happy this video has helped, and continues to help, people clean their mags. I didn't think 10 people would watch it when I made it so it's kind of a shock to me really. Glad it helped you, also. Thanks for watching!
I bought a Magazine Kit from Tripps Cobra Mags & did not know how to install it in my Old Magazines that I have, Never done it before, Thanks for sharing etc once again
@MyHollowpoint Thanks! there was a time, not long ago, that I wanted to clean my 1911 mags and had no idea how to take them apart. I thought this video might help some one in that situation.
Yep, it does. Just rebuilt my 45 and figured out how to disassemble Gov't mags, this makes it a lot easier. Some companies build in floor plates now but I have a bunch of older Chip McCormicks, I like how they run, but they have to be disassembled this way.
Thanks! Need to see how this is done to clean a 100 year old 1910 magazine and put a new spring in it! Hopefully 1911 GI mag and 1910 mags are similar! They look to be...
Thank you for this. I was one of those who did not know how to approach this disassembly. I have a magazine that is consistently "failing to feed" I'm hoping this will do the trick.
@Dampochino You're welcome. You can lube the mags, and most people do, it just attracts a greater amount of powder residue which makes for more cleaning needed. I've found that most quality mags need very little to no lubricant to work properly, but hey, do what makes you feel more comfortable, bro!
LOL, i love how old people uses "i'm old" as an excuse, i'm sooo looking forward to being old. hahaha thanks for the info on this, i had trouble with my stock springfield armory magazine disassembly.
I was wondering how you got the follower back in after cleaning. That tilt looks like it does the trick. Thanks for the video. BTW - I laughed out loud when I heard what CRS meant.
KG Great video thanks for the Tip.? Never knew how to do that before. It it ok to spray the magazines with some Silicone spray instead of using any Lube on them.? I Generally use EEZOX to clean all of my firearms & magazines. It dries clear & does nor collect any lint etc. On any of the parts.
@JUKEBOXX1990 Sorry to hear you had issues with the reassembly. maybe after you've done it a few times it'll get easier for you. I took a guess on the Mustang mag. I've never had the opportunity to break one of those down. I hope this video helped a little. Maybe you could do a video of the correct procedure for that one!
I looked through your other videos and perhaps I missed it, but do you have a video of you actually breaking down the 1911 and cleaning it? That is the part I am most worried about attempting on my own.
My new 1911 magazines have trouble loading the last round in them ( 7) round mags ( Metal Form Mags) Any suggestions on how to loosen them up top squeeze in that last round,? Even with the MagLula loader I still have trouble squeezing in that last round. I am also old & my hands are not as strong as when I was a younger person.
