Megan, many thanks for the orientation on getting started with these forms. It's time to get these done asap! For them to be knitty gritty about the correct start date is a bit over the top. Geez whiz! they need to get a grip.
@StudentLoanPLanner Hi, I worked for a government eligible job as a nurse for 20 years and retired a few years ago. I haven't met the criteria of 120 qualifying payments just yet, but was curious if would i still be able to receive loan forgiveness for my Direct consolidated loan since my retirement income is significantly less than when I was earning a RN salary?
Of the PSLF submission: If you have 2 employers, they each get their own certification page, but within the one-same PLSForm, right? So, I guess it's a matter of re-joining their signature pages into one whole pdf again, right? This way the 2 out of 7 and 3 out of 7 are within the same 7 page document. Thoughts?
They should make 60 payments (5 years) for full time public service worker & 120 payments (10 years) for part time public service workers. (This would help way more people in the long run)
1) I did not consolidate my loans until Dec post- med school grad. Can those 6 months of utilized Grace Period count with PSLF waiver? 2) At the end of residency, I switched from IBR to REPAY (to bring the interest rate down). While I applied in Jan 2017, FedLoans didn't complete the process till end of May 2017. Thus Jan-May (5 months didn't count). This long processing is on THEM, not me! Can I get those 5 payments back under the PSLF waiver?
a few things I've run into on this, 1) make sure you know and always use your same start date. for instance, once you establish a specific start date, make sure you always have that same date. a few years ago I had a form and subsequently my entire service previously marked qualifying getting rejected over a 1 day difference in reported start dates. it was an honest mistake and took some time to get it corrected. an issue I experienced recently was the person authorized to sign my forms, rejecting what was filled out and saying I didn't work for the government. I still don't understand the confusion. I ended up escalating my request for a signature to our master records specialist, who signed I do work for the Government. but, for some reason, what is an otherwise straightforward form can apparently get confused or misinterpreted by people who don't understand the PSLF process, what employers qualify, and how qualified payments and qualification for PSLF is determined. my advice is fix form problems on the front end before you send it in.
Question: If you realize that you have an incorrect start date on the PSLF certification form that is created on line before having the employer sign, what is the best way to go about correcting the date? Should I complete a new form?
@@rushtonjohnson3715 if you haven't sent in your form to be signed, just go through the process and do another form. It's far better to submit correct paperwork. It won't hurt anything to go through the pslf tool and generate a new form with the correct information.

As someone who has recently graduated and is currently in the grace period, should I do this certification form now to let mohela know I am pursing PSLF with my current employer (and verifying them as a eligible employer for PSLF)? Or is this a form I would instead complete annually AFTER my first year of making payments toward PSLF?
consolidate now so months can count towards PSLF now during the covid forbearance (grace period does not count towards PSLF), and submit an ECF after the first year of employment (or after the consolidation, doesn't really matter, just submit 1x/yr to makes sure your employer is eligible and they're counting up your payments over time)
Can I fill out the form with information from a few employers while waiting to obtain dates from other employers and then go back and add those other employers at a later date once info is received from them? I'd like to get the portion of the form to those employers who have given me dates etc. so they can sign off asap. And get it to the others who are harder to reach when I can. Is this doable? Thanks!
When you say "add the others at a later date," are you implying that you would submit the form to your servicer after gaining each certification page? I'd definitely get them all on one form and then combine each of them later into one PDF, perhaps. Move the form in its entirety to the servicer/submission.
I am active duty in the Air Force since June of 2021 and I graduated school in 2020, hence not making 120 payments. Is it even worth completing and submitting?

Hi- I am a Registered Nurse with a 32 hour per week position. It’s not 40 hours per week but is it still full time? We don’t have any 40 hour positions in my organization.
For PSLF, you’re generally considered to work full time if you meet your employer’s definition of full time or you work at least 30 hours per week, whichever is greater. Source: studentaid.gov/help-center/answers/article/what-is-considered-full-time-employment-for-pslf
