Yes, in my old apartment we only had a TV monitor and a laptop, so we connected it via HDMI and selected "Second Screen Only" and then had a mouse + mousepad on the coffee table. Hope that helps :)

FYI, there are two VGA adapters that you might need. 1. VGA to HDMI 2. HDMI to VGA Some older computers only have VGA ports and the newer TV's or monitors have HDMI, in this case use option #1 Newer computers usually have HDMI ports and if you have a older monitor it might only have VGA, in this case use option #2 I have seen new mini computers with both VGA and HDMI, some people say the VGA isn't needed but I say it should be a standard port. FYI, you can not interchange these adopters, one has a female VGA and the other has a male VGA port.

We recommend checking the product manual and specs for that laptop for a video output even if it's not HDMI as one option. The alternative is to purchase a cheap WiFi router to create a small WiFi network in your trailer that both the Chromebook and a Google Chromecast [ bby.me/ttu0ak ] could connect to. The WiFi does not have to be connected to the Internet for the Chromecast to share video from the Chromebook to the TV via the TV's HDMI input.

If you're connected wirelessly, you may want to try connecting to the TV with an HDMI cable. Or if already connected, try a different HDMI port on the TV or cable. You may also want to check for any software driver updates for your laptop's video card.

The laptop audio will come through the tv unless you choose laptop audio driver.

If you're using a PC running Microsoft Windows, you should find these settings through the following steps: Start Menu (Windows Icon in toolbar) > System > Power & Sleep. There you should see options controlling when your screen will shut off and when your computer will sleep after periods of no-input or inactivity on the device.
