thanks webby. I been looking for this video.. I find it easy to understand your video because this is what im looking for. I been watching a lot of you tube video tutorials but not what im looking for
Thank you. I've been really puzzled about how to connect my ad to ManyChat but not any longer! Your explanations as to your choices are very helpful in understanding. :-)
WebbyUp Right! This is very useful if you have a LOOONG flow. Can’t find other tutorial video same as this. They are all teaching JSON which results in an error “The message text should not exceed 150 characters.” Thanks again. 😊
This is great! Worked for me. Only issue was that, for some reason, my bot just does the "..." delay and never sends the message or starts the flow. How would I fix this?
Hello good tutorial! I have two questions. 1) does it trigger anywhere else in fanpage linked (for example ïnteractions in posts) if somebody types the configured keywords? Because it did not link to the ad directly. 2) how could we use the option "connect your bot" located just below the quick replies text? I suppose that would be a way to direct linking to your bot
You can trigger the bot from a post comment using the Comment Growth Tool. It can also be connected to your Send Message button on your Page. Other than that, you can send traffic to a specific bot feature through a URL, QR code, website widget or website live chat.
This is great thank you! I have been trying to set up a JSON ad for days and I couldn't get it to work. The only question I have is, I want to offer a $30 voucher, so when they go into messenger to claim there voucher, what is the easiest way to give them the $30 discount voucher? Thanks
That’s something different. The “Generate Leads” feature didn’t exist when I recorded this video. That feature is a companion to Lead Ads. It will work to capture leads but is very limited in functionality by comparison to an app like ManyChat.
I'm pretty sure you cannot do what you're saying. The last time I tried to connect a bot to an organic post's "message" button, there wasn't an efficient way to trigger a bot. I haven't used that tool in a while so if nothing has changed with it, you cannot. If Facebook changed what happens after you click the "message" button on an organic post, it may be possible now. If you want to gain bot traffic off a boosted for engagement post instead of the traffic objective, you could use the Comment Growth Tool and trigger the bot from comments.
@@webbyup9460 thanks for your answer. I'm new using manychat and I'll be testing the bot with different Facebook ads. Maybe more examples of this will be helpful for me.
Thanks for sharing, this was super helpful. Any possibility of posting in 1080 in the future? (if you already arent) It just makes it easier to see the screen text. :) Thanks! I subscribed!
Thanks! Unfortunately, I didn't record in 1080. I didn't plan on uploading it for public viewing when I recorded it. It was simply a tool to help explain how to connect ads to clients. Al future videos will be of a higher quality.
@@webbyup9460 Clarification. Starting from 5:03 onwards was what I was looking for. I have now successfully run ads in FB that takes the user to messenger as soon as they click the icon for Messenger. Thanks once again for making this video.
Sorry, I missed this comment for a bit. No, it is not possible at this point to add a checkbox to FB Lead Ads. Soon it will be possible to connect FB lead ads to your bot but the only way to attempt to get lead ad conversions to Messenger subscribers is to include a REF URL link in the Thank You Page of the Lead Ad.
First of all thanks a lot for this video. But please, after doing all what has been shown in the video I want the Get Started button to appear anytime the Send Message is clicked. How do I go about that? Thanks once again WebbyUp
You cannot have the "Get Started" button appear anytime someone comes to your page and hits "Send Message." The way the system is built, that button only appears the first time someone engages your bot. Why would you want that button to appear? It is an extra hoop to make a person jump through. I wish we could bypass that button all together myself.
If you are using an Android phone, this is a know issue between Facebook and the operating system. All else, sometimes the button appears below the fold and you have to scroll a bit to see it. It’s not ideal and there is nothing we can do about that.
Hi, I have a question. Is Traffic Campaign the only way to link the Ad to the Many Chat flow? I am currently managing an Interaction Campaign for a Restaurant but I don't see how to apply the option that is shown in the video.
No, it is not the only way. You can connect to ads through the JSON Growth Tool, through comments on posts or the two ways highlighted in this video, the Traffic campaign, and the Messages campaign. If you have ManyChat, you can actually connect a flow to an ad through their Ads integration tool. It's in Beta at the moment, but it's pretty cool. Thanks for the comment!
That is very common. Business owners think that their clients only behave as they do. It doesn't matter if your client has never heard of Messenger, their clients and customers have. Messenger has over 3 billion monthly active users. It will always be a challenge displaying the value of Messenger marketing to clients like this. Sometimes it takes convincing them to give you a low-risk trial like creating a feature simply to capture leads and send them into their email auto responder. Showing this easy win can be a door into a larger project.
Do you have to have the PRO version for this to connect? I'm thinking so...because I did all the steps and it looks like yours, but not the message bot.
You do not need a Pro account for this to work. You may need to try refreshing the permissions in ManyChat and then try the steps again. To refresh your permissions, head to Settings and look for the Refresh Permissions button. You can also click Help on the bottom left and see a Refresh Permissions button there.
If you're talking about subscription fees... you need a ManyChat Pro account to use the JSON Growth Tool. That fee starts at $10/mo and is based on your subscriber count. Other than that, your only fees are your ad spend.
No, you do not need a Pro ManyChat plan to connect your bot to an ad. There are other features that you only have access to with a Pro account, though.
Yes, it does. The Ads Manager and ManyChat platforms have updated since this was recorded, but it is the only way I connect a Messenger bot to a Facebook/Instagram ad to this day.
JK! If anyone else has the same issue I was having, when setting up the keywords, you have to setup an action for the keyword by clicking it. You HAVE to make sure you click, subscribe to bot. Or else it won't send back the messages from your flow.
Thanks for the comments! You shouldn't have to set up an action to subscribe to your bot. The act of them pressing the button in the ad should subscribe them and the message connected to the keyword should fire. Your account may have been experiencing a glitch... which happens from time to time. Let me know if the problem persists and I'd be happy to help trouble shoot.
sir, I have seen many videos and I really liked it. But I have stuck in one thing that when i created facebook page and connected with many chats app then weird option integrated on my facebook page messenger. As a result, whenever anyone who lands on my this page and messages me then it sends a message automatically which promotes to another company. I have attached some pictures please check it out. If you have any solution please let me know.
Hi Deepali, I'm not seeing any photos. It sounds like you have some sort of automation that was either setup before you connected ManyChat (unless you copied over a bot from another page). Try going to your Facebook Page on Desktop. Then add this to the end of the URL and hit enter: /settings/?tab=messaging. Once in that settings tab, look for the "Starting a Messenger Conversation" area and turn off any automatic responses. If this doesn't work, please let me know. What is happening to your account is simply something that needs to be deleted or edited. Justin
how do I find the bot payload? as my quick reply is not working and just sending the standard reply like you deleted here. I have a send message button on the post and it defaults to the standard reply not the manychat flow or quick reply
The Payload option is not available in ManyChat. The "Send Message" button on the post does not work in this case either if you are setting a post to receive messages. The only options to make this work as described are using Ads Manager and using Messages Objective or Traffic Objective with Messenger selected as the destination in the Ad Set.
@@webbyup9460 ok thanks. Im running a message objective however when I test Im only getting the standard reply when the send message button is clicked. The bot is not connecting. Although when I test it from an advert the bot works. As this is a published post with a message ad running to it (using existing post). I also tested by setting up the ad from the beginning is it still doesnt work. The bot is connected to the page when you do send message (blue button near banner) it works. very strange
@@webdomination2 Did you edit the Messenger experience inside of Ads Manager? It looks different now than it did when I created this video, but the option is still there.
Hello, does this video apply in 2020 year? I create flow and keyword, connect them, and in FB Ads manager I choose "quick reply", where I write keyword. After that I select preview in msn. when I get message I click button where is written keyword but I don't get another message which I created in Manychat (message from created flow). I don't know why? I have free version of Manychat. is it possible to create all this mentioned in you video in this free version? Thank you
Hello. Yes, this still applies. The Facebook Ads Manager platform has updated and changed a bit and ManyChat has updated and changed a bit but it still works exactly the same. Did you connect your Keyword in ManyChat to any flow? If so, try refreshing permissions in ManyChat and then testing again.
What type of content to choose in the flow? is it a good "Post-Purchase Update" or some other option? I tried everything al, no option failed to send a message to the messenger!
@@gorangojic8602 I'm not sure what you are referring to here. Do you mean, when you build a flow in ManyChat and hit preview it is not sending to your Messenger? If so, you need to refresh your permissions on your ManyChat account. If it is still not working contact ManyChat support. If you are referring to the preview that Ads Manager sends you, I would need more information on how you have set up your ad. Did you build a custom Messenger experience? Did you edit that custom Messenger experience to include an image and a Quick Reply? Does the text in the Quick Reply match exactly to the Keyword that you set up in ManyChat? Is your ManyChat keyword connected to a published flow? The flow MUST be published for it to work.
@@gorangojic8602 You choose the proper Content Type for the content. If your flow is something that is sent after someone makes a purchase, you use "Post-Purchase Update." In how you've described this, don't use that. That is incorrect. Almost everything should be tagged as "Other." Unless the content of the flow is actually a "post-purchase update," a "confirmed event update," or an "account update," you use "Other." Please do not try to fake the system and use an inaccurate content type tag as it will get your account banned.
Hi, how can I test the manychat without activating it on live page? For example, while I am exploring manychat for messanger, I don't want anything visible to the live users on the page.
You have a couple of options... 1) The flows that you build in ManyChat have to have a front-end access point for someone to trigger it. In other words, you need to connect the automation you need to some kind of trigger for it to send to someone. The trigger could be: commenting of a Facebook post, starting a conversation with your bot for the first time, a button on a website, an ad, a URL, an in-bot keyword or one of the many website widgets. But you would need to connect what you build to one of these things in order for a person to be able to access it. If you do not connect your flows to one of the triggers, no one can trigger your flow. 2) Connect ManyChat to a dummy Facebook Page and build the whole thing. Then copy it over to the live Page. Hopefully this helps!
@@webbyup9460 Thanks for your response. I also ask manychat directly for helping me to set up a bot but no luck. Don't know. how to set up triggers as well :-( Do you offer any support?
If you are wanting to be self-sufficient and build out your bot yourself, the best thing to do is to get in there and start building stuff. What I referred to as a "trigger" is not an official term. Most of these features are called "Growth Tools" in ManyChat. They are quite simple to setup. All you need to do is go to the Growth Tool tab and create a new one. It will walk you through everything that you need. If you simply want to have automation set up on your page and don't want to bother with building it, there are services out there that will build functionality for you. I can recommend someone if you like.
Thanks for your support. Actually, I am trying to explore platforms "ManyChat" and "Chatfuel" . With Manychat, some features are only available with pro account. For example, "User Input" and "Dynamic". It makes things harder for me to understand about those features as I can't try them with free account of Manychat. Would you please share your thoughts on which one is better. Manychat or Chatfuel? One thing I don't like about manychat is their "customer support". They aren't offering that much support except KB articles, etc and directly recommending to choose an agency to get "paid help" with manychat which is not good option.
Thanks, John. You can target people who have a birthday coming up. Like, in the next week or two but I don't believe you can only target those whose birthday is that day. I've never tried, actually.
Strangely I get errors if I try to use a custom template for Messenger Setup in the ad. I get an error saying the ad won't run and that the welcome page message is invalid.
@@krzykyle Would you mind sending me a screenshot of the setup? You can send it via Messenger, email or your preferred channel (I'm on all of them). Messenger: @WebbyUp or m.me/WebbyUp Email: justin@webbyup.com
Here is how to fix that error... Make sure you have a Welcome Message and it's turned on. To do this, log into ManyChat and head to Automation>Welcome Message. After you have some content in the Welcome Message, make sure the toggle in the upper right is set to "Active." Then head to Settings inside ManyChat and hit Refresh Permissions. If you have a Welcome Message active and it is firing like it's supposed to, the error should clear up. If not, please let me know.
Messenger bots work well with lead generating as long as you have a good offer. You wouldn’t need a lead form, though. It would be redundant. The bot can collect all information that you need and often replaces landing pages and traditional forms.
Hi there, how to set a default reply in manychat. For example, if the user types anything and there isn't any human available to respond. In that case we wants to send a default reply. i.e "Thanks. Our team member will get back to you as soon as possible. Kindly share with us your best contact number or email."
@@hiralshah4107 You must "Enable" it (toggle switch at the top) and set it to fire once every 24 hrs or every time. If the Default Reply flow is published, enabled and still doesn't trigger, refresh permissions and try again. To refresh permissions, go to the Help menu on the bottom left and hit Refresh Permissions.
I keep getting this message: Invalid Page Welcome Message for Messenger Destination Ads: The Message Text (page_welcome_message) is invalid for ads with Messenger as destination. Any ideas how to fix it?
I can help. First, are you using the JSON Growth Tool or building it in the Visual Editor in the Facebook ads system? If you’re building it on the FB ad system, it could be a few things. Can you send me a screenshot of the Messenger setup in the ads Manager? To do this, head to the ad in question. Scroll down to the Messenger setup and click “duplicate” near the current Messenger experience in the ad builder. This will open up the editor and allow you to screenshot the whole area. Once you have it, please send it to me in Messenger or via email (details below). If you have any questions, you can also use Messenger or email to ask. Messenger: @WebbyUp or m.me/WebbyUp Email: justin@webbyup.com

Thank you again so much for all your help this morning Justin. I really cant thank you enough, I appreciate you taking the time to explain it all to me and in easy terms I can understand :-)
I already have existing faceboook ads campaigns and wanted to add this to the existing ads but not working. Looks like this tutorial is only good for new campaings.
@@webbyup9460 hey thanks man. I'm stuck where i wanted my post with 'send message' button would trigger manychat. I'm talking about a regular post with send message option.
@@MrMosoani Oh, yeah... that doesn't work. You would need that "send message" to automatically send a keyword and then use the keyword to trigger the flow. But, I don't think it's possible to make that "Send Message" button send a specific word. Instead, why don't you use the Comment Growth Tool? Let people know in the post to answer a question to get what it is you're offering. If they comment, the bot will trigger.
Sorry for the delayed reply. It ended up in my spam box. Facebook has not opened the ability to use bots on Groups yet. So, the only option is to share a REF URL link to your bot and share it in your group.
To which policy change are you referring? Once you connect a bot building software to your Business Page, a "Get Started" button will appear the first time someone messages your Page. Is this what you're talking about?
