Hi, this video shows you how to connect your PlayStation 4 Slim to a DVI Monitor and also the different options of getting sound out to your headphones/headset, speakers or soundbar. Many thanks Vince
got one from a store that sells electronic products like convertors,VGA cable, and HDMI and what have you, bought the HDMI to DVI cable for approximately ~$5 (Ghc30)
Thanks so much for this vid! I was researching to see if there was a good way to connect my new PS4 Slim to a 1080p-capable monitor that has no HDMI port, and yours was the first video I found. It's worth mentioning, though, that my monitor didn't support PS4's HDCP feature, and didn't work AT ALL until I connected it to a friend's TV and disabled HDCP.
Thanks for Video! Very helpful. The Settings for Monitor and Ps 4 are like Alien Language Commands and Prompts to read. A thousand times connecting all switches-splitting-and converters with no results, ah, finally, I feel like I'm making some Progress! Take Care
I never leave comments on RU-vid videos. But since your video helped me a lot connecting my soundbar to my PS4, I just thought I’d leave you a comment saying thank you very much. I genuinely appreciate your help 👍🏼
I did everything the same and it works well but I only get 720p resolution. It says unsupported next to 1080p. But when I connect the ps4 directly too my dvi monitor with a hdmi to dvi cable, I get full 1080p. Any thoughts?
Thank you very much Vince. I am going to get the cable and converter and connect to my Acer monitor and my Amazon Cube like you showed us. Great. I want this for over have a power outage I can just plug into my sole generator. I will get back to you with results. Thanks again.
Good video. A neater method for the PC speakers is a simple USB to audio converter. (Amazon around £5) The PS4 will recognise it as a headset and you can plug the speakers straight into it with no need for an extra cable for power.
EDIT: Turns out the HDMI switch+extractor I linked doesn't work with my monitor for some reason (wrote this comment while it was shipping)... Might work for others though. Original comment: The USB audio converter is definitely a good suggestion, but less future-proof, since you can't use an HDMI switch with it. I opted for a 3-input, 1-output HDMI switch with built-in powered 3.5mm and optical audio extraction ( amazon.com/dp/B0728J5VKF ) for $16.99 USD and free shipping. No idea if it's available in the UK, but if it's around the same price, that'd be a little less than £13. Not bad when you consider that you're basically turning your DVI port into *three* HDMI ports with audio support... ;)
very nice .......the ps4 is going out for the ps5 so, i am setting up a system for myself away from the family, i can setup and moved to setup i like.....
No need to safe boot. The resolution changes automatically even if you set it to 1080p. I've tried it with different monitors and even a 4k tv. By the way, if your monitor has a VGA port, it's way easier to just get an HDMI to VGA converter as they usually come with a built in 3.5mm port to plug the speakers.
@@kowal3d yeah, a difference you cant even notice. If you have a good monitor with great colors its even better than hdmi on tv. Ive 2 monitors with vga, dvi and displayport and i don't notice any difference on both when changing between ports.
I have a Soundbar (Yamaha YAS-109) with a HDMI IN and OUT port. So I can directly connect the PS5 to the Soundbar HDMI IN and then the Soundbar HDMI OUT to the Monitor?
well since it wasnt mention in this video, you need a monitor that support DVI-D with HDCP support not just any kind of DVI monitors out there. to confirm your monitor is HDCP compatible and digital signal (not analog), go plug it in on your computer with a AMD/Nvidia graphics card on it, run the control panel utility and check the monitor status, its should tell if your monitor is HDCP compliant or not, if it is then you can use that monitor on your PS3 and PS4 console, as well xbox360 and xbone.
i have a HP 2009m that supports VGA/DVI/AUX and im using DVI (also known as Digital Visual Interface) and im using Digital Visual Interface and it works perfectly! with my cable box and my laptop and you know whats the worst thing? my DVD player cant even play HP 2009m on it...
hi I have a Benq 144hz gaming monitor and was wondering if I can use the dvi to hdmi cable to get the full 144hz experience on my pc? I tried using a normal hdmi cable but it is only capable of displaying 60hz. I want the 144hz to be able to play competitive in games and have the advantage. Any idea if the cable will work?
I’m having trouble getting the dvi to work I’m not use to ps4 but I can get it to work on my Xbox just don’t know which settings to use this video is mostly about volume you have to have certain settings
How would it work if i had the headset plugged in and speakers so i can hear chat audio through headset and the game sound out of speakers?Do i only have to put in the headset in the controller and then do the rest of your setup?
Noo I have dvi monitor and my graphics don't have DVI and i buy cable like this and working but is not respond correct is way fixed this problem ? I don't want my computer only for indernet I wont to run multiple stuff at the time
Bro i bought a dvi Monitor , but i dont know if its gonna work , my connector is an a dvid/vga adapter and im gonna use a vga cable to a vga/hdmi adapter to my ps4 , cos the monitor dont have speakers and i can connect my speakers in my vga/hdmi adapter , i dont inow if its gonna work :/
i got the small adapter you showed (hdmi F to dvi M) and i tried fixing it with my newly bought ps4... and its not showing anything except a light white which just keeps coming and going on the monitor.. please help!!
does the monitor needs to be connected to any power source like a plug for example or you can just directly connect the ps4 to the monitor without any power source?
okay but how do you connect it? like do you have to just insert the cable within a plug or something? im fully aware that the cable of the monitor should be connected to the CPU but since i really dont want to purchase a CPU just to do that,is there any other alternatives? sorry for asking such dumb questions. im not really that familiar with all these computer stuffs
