I found that I was using a charging only cable! After using 3 cables laying around I ruled out cables, then tried one last time with another one and it worked immediately! Thank you
thank you for referencing the xbox accessories app -- this is the first source in several hours of searching that has mentioned it. Also, for anyone else attempting to connect via a usb cable to avoid shitty bluetooth connections, make sure the other end of the usb is in fact connected to the pc and NOT one of several usb chargers you have behind your monitors!
5:40 ... *looks at both cable i've been trying to use for the past hour but they haven't been working* OH FOR F- ok but in all seriousness, FINALLY SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY TALKS ABOUT EVERY POSSIBLE PROBELM AND SOLUTION. every single video i have watched about this issue just says "connect your controller with a wire" and then they just continue like nobody could possibly have any issues with that, and then i'm just sitting there like "IT NO WORK" and i search for the next video and hope they say how to fix usb controller connection issues. You are the ONLY person I've seen in the last hour actually mention the difference between certain usb cables, and I HEAVILY thank you for that. Now that you've mentioned it, it seems like a very obvious thing that Ive somehow managed to overlook, but anyway I'm gonna scour through my whole apartment and hope someone in this house has a usb that works with my xbox one controller. Might be hard to find tho cuz that controller doesn't have a usb c port, it has the old header that android phones used to use.
After watching all this videos of the same steps they failed to mention to download the xbox accessories app, your video helped me out in connecting via Bluetooth !!
im glad i found this vid ive been trying for days to get a spare xbone controller to work on my pc and nothing and now i know why its because its an older one with the black bar across the top. you sir are the only one from over 20 vids to explain this thank you, so it looks like i will need another controller damnit
Thank you so much for this Informations. I have a realy early version of the Xbox One, and i didnt knew those Controllers dont work with bluethoot. Thank god i was doing my research properly before buying that Wireless Adapter. You have saved me a lot of frustration and money :) Thank you ^^
Fantastic. Back when I had a 360 controller on Windows 7 it was just plug and play. I eventually switched to mouse and keyboard, and I like that better for most games, but I'm getting into soulslikes, and Dark Souls just doesn't hold up for that.
When using the Official Microsoft XBOX ONE Wireless Controller USB Adapter for Windows, active tap the top of the USB stick there is a sync button that clicks then press the sync button on your controller
I've recently had an issue with my controller turning on AND connecting to my PC. On Steam, it can't detect my controller and on the 'other devices' settings there were no controller devices being shown. I've tried plugging an unplugging the controller, cleaned the ports of both the USB and controller, and also checked whether the issue was the PC's USB ports that were faulty. Those weren't the problem because when I tried connecting my Razer mouse and headset through they were working perfectly fine. This is really frustrating and hasn't happened before when I bought my Xbox controller. Previously, I had played and connected my controller through the same USB port and I had no issues with that. Though one thing I kept in mind is that I haven't touched or turned on my Xbox controller in about a year, and that may be a factor to this problem that I'm facing. Not entirely sure if that's the case, but for now, I'm doing the steps you showed to update my Windows and I'll let you know whether it was successful or not.
Thanks to you, I didn't have to go crazy and destroy my controller for not connecting xD, But for real thanks for the troubleshoot now I can go back and enjoy my games!
I am attempting to connect an xbox 360 controller via cord, however I believe it is an older model, but am not sure what it is to see if I am able to connect it. It does not have a usb connector, and instead has a wide section for a cord, which i have a cable that connects to it I believe is called a "play and charge kit." Once plugged in, the device glows around the xbox button, flashing on and off repeatedly but does nothing else, and doesn't do anything.
I’ve been having trouble with the same problem, I’m trying to play madden 23 and when I first got it the controller worked on it but the next day it stopped working and I can’t get it to work
@@_matt_160 Older Xbox controllers use Micro USB, while newer ones use USB-C. You can't use both because the controller port only fits one of those two types. If your older computer doesn't recognize the controller it likely does not have the drivers to run it.
my Xbox series s controller won't connect to my PC when i press add device i wait and nothing is shown i have updated the firmware of the controller nothing i have uninstalled and reinstalled my computer's Bluetooth drivers and also check if they were up to date ( they were ) still nothing restarted my computer whilst it was physically connected to my Computer yet again nothing at this point i am completely at a lost one thing i have noticed is in the video, at troubleshoot 4 it shows in the Bluetooth section xbox wireless controller i don't have that. if that is the thing i need to get my wireless controller then can somebody please explain for my how to get it fix the problem by installing realtek bluetooth
I was going to comment and say this was entirely unhelpful. Then you mentioned the synch button! Now connected! As usual, the simplest solution tends to be the right one. Thanks 👍👍
Didn't work for me at first. My windows 11 laptop recognized the xbox wireless controller but when clicking on it to pair it only showed a message "try connecting your device again". Even after updating it still showed the same error message. BUT when I disconnected all other bluetooth devices that were connected to the laptop it finally paired with the controller. Thanks for the video as I didn't know about the XBOX accessories tool which was needed for the update.
it doesnt show the xbox peripherals for me or an unknown device i tried so many things it hasnt been working the usb works on xbox without and batteries tho but idk why it doesnt work on pc
My controller won’t connect to my laptop and I did all the troubleshooting steps. The Xbox power button is blinking and that’s all that I know. Can someone please help me. (I’m using a cord by the way).
I have a wired one.. and I did everything that was suggested and I cannot use my controller.. Although it does work on web pages to cursor around, but not in games. And the games Do allow controllers.. ESO and FF14. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am a total noob Any suggestions will be helpful thank you
For fix 3, I tried to update the drivers through device manager in Human Interface Devices, USB, and game controllers. Every time it said the drivers were up to date.
I can't plug in my controller anymore cause it doesn't work, It says driver is unavailable when I'm in the settings, I hate playing bluetooth because I have to much of a delay, I now find myself playing on keyboard and mouse, getting destroyed in close quarter combat in most shooter games I play.
@@HowToX i saw a xbox series s used for 15 euros, i was thinking if i should buy it, and i was seeing if it will work with pc games, emulators and android, was just checking if it would be hard to configure xD
I tried everything you said but nothing worked. My solution was go to Device Manager, Bluetooth, and remove all driver controllers. Then Windows update to correct version for my PC. Now the Xbox One Controller appear immediately on Bluetooth search and I can add to PC.
If using "add everything else" isn't popping up your controller in bluetooth settings, look in "add a device" (top choice on the list). Turns out my pc wants to use that add device setting for my controller, my speakers and even my neighbour's tv haha
Tried all the fixes, PC still can't see my new Xbox Carbon Black controller via Bluetooth or USB C. Opening the app only showed "connect a device" message, clicking it takes me to the site with irrelevant fix info which tells me to open up the guide! If I could open up the guide, which meant my PC already could see the controller. Any other suggestions? Thx
I have been trying to connect my controller and the cord seems to not work, I know the port is dependable, but this has happened with three different cords, all this the same result. (I have used several controllers as well.) The controller itself has yet to appear as connected. Any advice?
I have suddenly started having this same issue. It barely vibrates and then does not connect. I think the port on my controller has gone bad unfortunately
@@ashmitgautam3348 it's not your controller. I just bought a brand new one and I'm having the problem. Plug it in then connect via Bluetooth and it'll pick it up. It worked for me after half an hour of the cord just not working
when plugging in xbox one controller, a pop appears saying "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." figured the controller itself is broken, but I figured I'll comment it here if anyone knows anything about it.
Gave up on bluetooth, kept saying connected not connected connected. Wired works fine on xbox but doesn't function in actual game, so I just connected the controller with usb to the console and that seems to work
nothing is wrong with my controller, its just that when i try to connect with bluetooth it will NOT i mean NOT show up, ive tried everything, i can do you have any advice?
Thanks for this video. Wired connections work flawlessly, issue is when I try to use my xbox series x pad wirelessly. It keeps dropping connection, making it unusable. So have to rely on my wired connection, I'll try and go through ALL the steps and hopefully that will fix this.
