In this video, Nathan walks us through the process of connecting ceiling speakers to an amplifier, specifically in a 70-volt commercial audio installation. Components used in this video: a 70-volt ceiling speaker, a 70-volt amplifier, speaker wire, and a screwdriver.
It's important to check the polarity on the amplifier, which in this case, uses a Euroblock/Phoenix connector. You'll want to connect the positive wire to the positive screw terminal and the negative wire to the negative terminal, ensuring all connections are tight and secure to avoid any shorts.
On the speaker, confirm the 70-volt tap setting you want; in this demonstration, it's set to 1 watt, which is suitable for background music. Wire the speaker by connecting the positive and negative wires to the corresponding terminals on the Euroblock connector of the speaker. Ensure that the amplifier is off during these connections to prevent any potential issues.
For installations involving multiple speakers, you can connect additional speakers in parallel by using the remaining terminals on the Euroblock connector. It's important to maintain consistent polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative) throughout the setup.
Once all connections are secure, power on the amplifier and gently increase the volume to test the setup. You can adjust the speaker’s wattage tap setting to modify the volume output. Make sure to consider the amplifier's headroom and to keep the wattage settings balanced across all speakers in the system.

In 70V systems, the size of the amplifier you need is determined by the total wattage of your speakers. You'll want to add up the wattage of all 12 speakers plus an added 20% for headroom to find the total wattage required for your amplifier.
