How to Connect E-Drums for Rockband 4 Pro Drumming on Xbox One/ PS4 

So I know everyone is pretty disappointed that having this ability is almost next to impossible right now. However, I have heard of a new alternative called rolllimitless. If you go to rolllimitless.com then you may find what you're searching for, but it does come with some caveats. I have yet to try this method myself. I've been super busy with work lately, and haven't had the time to make anymore videos, but I definitely will make a video on this adapter as soon as I get the chance!

I got a yamaha dtx6k2-x e drum kit, and I bought a Wii midi adapter, converted it to PS4 by removing a single jumper, then hooked it up and for regular drum mode it works almost perfectly except for that snare click you mentioned that messes up my combos, and the pro mode is all weird with the symbols not working correctly. Weird thing is, before a song starts and you can hit all the pads and cymbals, it shows the correct color lighting up, but as soon as it reaches the first note of the song, then the cymbals start registering incorrectly as well as the toms and snare. But regular drum mode works perfectly. I heard midi settings have to be messed with in the drum module but I have no idea how to or what to set it to

1:13 I had the same problem with my midi adapter but I just unscrew the panel and cleaned it. Its a smooth plastic feel now.

I just got setup with the Pro Adapter on ps3, and alesis Nitro mesh. everything seems good the pro adapter even controls the game, but it isnt picking up any midi! I do have hte nitro set to Local: NO and have even checked all the midi notes / channerls per pad and they are all correct. Any ideas?

Can anyone help? I have an ion drum rocker for Xbox 360, (with an Alesis drum brain, Alesis bass drum and pedals) hooked up to a madcatz midi pro adaptor, and into my 360. Everything works as it should except the sensitivity is messed up. Either the cymbals double/triple hit and the toms work fine, or the toms don’t work at all and the cymbals hit normal. There seems to be no in between as far as sensitivity on the adaptor goes. Does anyone have any advice?

would like to connect an edrum with the ps3 to play rock band but still not quite sure how to do it. as far as I know you need a guitar hero drums (which is hard to get these days), a midi adapter, and a midi cable is that right? you have to necessarily pair a guitar hero drums with the edrum or is there perhaps synonymous for the ps3 an adapter that the console recognizes the edrum? Hey man! Great video it really helped me start up! I have just one problem before starting up; I have an ™Alesis Surge 2018 E drum kit set up. I didn't find a *Legacy Adapter* so I bought a ™Brook Xbox 360 to Xbox One converter which converts my Xbox 360 Midi adapter to be recognizable by my Xbox One. Once I plugged it all in it recognized everything well! The 360 midi adapter can be used to navigate through the game & my drum pads calibrated as the correct color (snare-Red) but here is where the problem lies: -Rockband is not allowing me to choose -*-Drums-*- as an instrument option- it keeps me on vocals/Microphone, but my drum kit works perfectly! I can even navigate in the game with my Alesis drum kit & even choose songs by hitting the pad. Have you ever experienced this & is there something I'm missing? The 360 midi adapter is on "D" & the only thing that's different is that I'm not using a Legacy Adapter but instead a modern version that just came out that seems to be working fine called ™Brooks 360 to XB1 controller converter. -i will note that my 360 midi adapter logo ring is not blinking when plugged in as it is on your video but instead is staying on completely to player 1. Hey! So I’m thinking of purchasing the Alesis nitro kit instead of purchasing a RB4 set for around the same price. Only issue is, I have no idea what I’m doing. Do I need to buy any type of adapter or anything along those lines as well with the drums or is everything in the kit on Amazon, all I need? Also I read some others talk about having to remap sometimes with kits and I don’t know a computer/laptop if I need to do anything like that. Just trying to make sure if I spend this money, I do it all properly with no issues. Thanks.

I own this exact setup. I did take apart the midi adaptor to clean it with some 409 since it had that sticky residue and aweful smell. The Amazon supplier offered a new one without requesting the sticky one back and blamed it on storage (years). The replacement was the same... being a beginner I just don’t know how to position the pads and cymbals property or as a good baseline. I see you have both your cymbals on the right side, why?

Alesis makes a kit made of mesh heads that feel realistic and are very quiet I would recommend that Oh and Christmas rolled around. I’ve been playing on my Alesis all day and I have to say it’s the best acoustic feel for a great price (350-500 for low end)

My Adapter's start/options button is no longer registering in RB4 on my PS4, even though the light is on. Bought another adapter, still no luck. This was working fine prior to some huge updates to the game. Is yours still working? Is it just me, somehow?

I used a similar but a bit slightly different setup. I had Yamaha dtx532k set. It doesn't have a midi output but it can be connected over usb with a laptop. Then the mad catz controller was connected to the laptop via a usb-midi cable. On the laptop i had some midi app running to convert notes from drum kit into midi notes. It was working all good however there was some 100ms lag that i couldn't wrap my head around. It was most likely between mad catz controller and ps4. I was troubleshooting it and delay between kit and laptop was around couple ms. Between kit and mad catz same (there is a led on mad catz that o compared in slo mo). Annoying.

Thinking of purchasing the Alesis Nitro, when you said it comes with everything, does that mean EVERYTHING (two kicks, all cords to connect to Xbox 1 and no need to buy adaptors, drum sticks, etc.), also how do you prefer playing on mesh heads? Back when I was big into RB2 I had a modded mesh head kit and I loved it but not sure how I felt about not hearing ANY noise from hitting the pads.

My controllers are doing the same thing. The coating is old and deteriorating. I plan on removing the coating at some point.

Yeah, I don't know why they decided to rubberize the midi adapter and microphone. If you try to strip it off, you have to take it apart and it's a pain. Also, you end up taking off the silver labels too. It's frustrating. I thought about totally stripping it off and then painting on the symbols/labels.

Dude the td50kv is easily $8,000 as well as the $10 per set of sticks, $7 with stick wraps, $200-$1,200 for a decent speaker, $200 for a decent double kick pedal, and $150 for a quality drum throne

TL;DR Turn up the "volume" on the Rockband MIDI controller if you're not getting any feedback in the game. I have a Roland TD-9, replaced some of the Roland drums with Pintechs, and I had my PS3 rocking the shit out of Rockband 3 with a ton of downloaded songs. Fast forward 10 years and I recalled how much I loved playing this game on my "real" digital drums so I'm like, fuck it, I've got a lot of space in my new house so I dragged the drum set and PS3 out of storage and set them up in my game room. Even though I had it set up perfectly when I put it away, when I set it back up I was getting no triggers when I hit my drums in the game, but I was getting triggers in my TD-9. Curiouser and curiouser... I had the exact same ectoplasmic spouge residue on my Rockband MIDI controller. I'm like WTF?! Did I spill beer on this in a drunken fit of Nu Metal speed drumming and forgot about it? So, I used 91% isopropyl alcohol and some cotton balls to clean it, it's not sticky now but it's all white. #racist Back to the no triggering; this was working before but not now? Why? Well, it all comes down to that "volume" dial on the Rockband MIDI controller. Over the years of my slow decent into senility I had forgotten that this dial was not for volume but was for adjusting the triggering strength for your MIDI instruments. When cleaning the creepy goo off of the adaptor I had inadvertently turned that dial all the way down to nothingness. Then! I heard a bell ring in my tiny brain and saw a light bulb shining brightly over my simple little noggin! I turned the dial up and all was well in mid-life crisis drumming fantasy land! P.S. If you have an old PS console do NOT go online and most importantly DO NOT UPDATE IT! You may never be able to use your PS console again, it almost happened to me. #TheMoreYouKnow

every few minutes this adapter stops recognising me hitting the drums. Reconnecting the drums via adapter helps for the next few minuscule then the problem repeats. I love the game but this problem gets me so mad I can’t play it. Any ideas what could it be? I also wonder if I can use the adapter to play pc version of rockband or guitar hero. Please help 🥺

The gooey stuff on the midi adaptor can be easily cleaned with "Goo Gone" cleaner. Mine cleaned right up without damage to the unit what so ever.
