When is the seitchover supposed to be fully completed? Thought 2025! 2bh we use mobiles and disconnected landline as only got junk calls! Thanks for explsnation and highlighting pitfalls of progress. Bloody scary for none mobile users imo! Thanks Mike and Kath 🐈👍
If you turn off router you turn off phone thecreason tbis is happening is to ensure with fibrevto prenises or broadband it will enable you to have live line on phone or. Obile so once configured it will be good
Hi Mike, great little tutorial video.. was wondering if I can change my analogue phone and move straight over to VOIP without the need to use the supplied upgrade adapter.
In theory you should be able to but due to the different specs and protocols used that isn’t always possible and depends if the phone you are getting is truly voip or what protocol is used on it as to where it can be plugged into the “new” phone line
We've had this for some months now. Generally we are quite happy, but we have found one other drawback. The new digital system automatically blocks all calls where the caller has withheld the number. In most instances this is fine, but my local GP surgery always withholds their number when calling. This is a problem now that they hold most appointments, since the pandemic, by telephone. Obviously you can get around it if you have a mobile, but not everyone has a mobile. So, (stereotyping) it is the elderly who are most likely to suffer.
i was due to be switched over on sept 10th. but with virgin working in the area a few weeks before, my internet kept cutting out. then had no phone line from the wall. managed after a week to contact someone on the community page and got someone out. so switched me over before the 10th. still on hub 3.
analogue swapped over to VOIP here in aussie land couple years ago. My broadband modem has same 2 PTSN compatible jacks plus DECT cordless support for upto 4 handsets
@@gooseuk1985 don't get me started there, there isn't labour or tories anymore, it is the uni party now. They are both owned and paid for by lobby groups and big tech and big pharma. Politicians are just the public face of the globalist elite.
We switched over ages ago and have to use the adaptor to plug the phone into the Virgin Hub 5 - our phone handset is crap and quite old so I tried to buy new phone with the correct plug so I dont need to use the adaptor couldn't find one anywhere! Mind you that was quite a while back - will check again
Ours don't even work via hub only landline sockets on the wall why the hell did virgin send us a adapter for internet when it don't work 😮 waste of money and postage
@@mikesunboxing Apparently, the VM adapter does not have a capacitor to power the ringer. VM help was not helpful, they advised me, 'It is what it is'.
On my switchover day, I had to reboot the HUB 5, and it was a LONG reboot with a spell on blue indicator (ah, I need to check if the update enabled WPS). Also, at some point, there was an update to the HUB 5 for LED intensity, while the default is auto "low" intensity, brightening if there is an abnormal condition, it doesn't seem that low though... Can be adjusted on manual, but will still auto brighten if something is wrong
we transferred over to by fibre (bt) , copper we were getting 35 download speed ,so my son who pays for that , i thought well go fibre and get it done cheap for less of the price he gets 150 download speed so he is a happy bunny , the mrs and i use virgin ,as i use server and a gaming rig ,many other hardware such as using sdr listening to iss , and ham radio , and listen at the airport so need the extra .but will not have a phone ,just mobie connected then i shut the roaming off when i am out. also mike bt was not allowed to have fibre until this year by contract that was the rules made when fibre came out.
Mike I have Super Hub3 in modem mode and a 3rd party router for mesh system. If I was to use a non Vm Voip which terminal would I connect on SuoerHub3 or could I plud into my mesh router. As I was going to do it before VM switch over.
Thanks for that Mike - but as Suoer Hub has its telephone connection but I assume that's only for VM - so I would plug into one of the yellow connections? But could I also connect into my mesh router again into one of its yellow terminals. Yes the VOIP provider does supply the connection lead. Thanks again
@@mikesunboxing I think I advice them to get BT or get a cheap bb package so they don't lose there landlines, I think that might be best, what do you think?
