Bro, u a good dude!!!, I was really frustrated, my remote stop working for the first since having my Sonos playbar. And your video got it working for me, thank you man!!!
Big up for this really helped me out...just some advice for Playbase owners: on the first power test choose ‘no didn’t turn off’ and for the 2nd test chose ‘yes’
I had the same issue when I was cutting the cord on my cable. One note. If after watching this video it doesn't work, make sure your TV source is set to TV. Mine was set to HDMI 1 and that was allowing my cable remote to still control the volume while my Samsung TV remote was not working (even after following the video instructions). After I did what the video said AND switched the source to TV, it all works great. Thanks, Curt!
Hey man, thank you so much. I thought I just couldn't follow directions, your video saved me from just tossing the sonos bar into the basement. Worked perfectly after struggling for an hour or more to control the volume. Awesome.
Your the Men!!! I just upgraded my old tv to brand new 75” Neo Qled. with my old tv i could only control my sonos bar thru my apple tv 4k and when i got this tv i was very disappointed i was having the same issue i couldn’t control my sonos playbar. But i came across your video and bingo, you are a Blessing thank you very much have happy Christmas.
DUDE!! I called SONOS they told me it could not be done! Sonos rep told me my Samsung tv had a radio frequency remote and it would not work with Sonos playbar. Thank you very much!
I never comment here, but have to in this instance. I've been on the phone with Samsung for hours and bought many recommended peripherals that never worked. Thank you so much for this solution. FWIW, on Samsung Frame with Sonos playbar, I had to attempt 2nd try and then click yes before volume control worked. Thank you again!
This worked, thanks. But i have a blu ray and apple tv and i can only get this to work for one at a time. Is there a was to be able to control volume using the remote on both of the without going and manually switching.
Dude, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have been trying to figure this out FOREVER for controlling my Yamaha receiver and now it works perfectly! Very grateful for your time and knowledge!
God bless you man. I bought a 65" Class 7 UHD and a HW-B450/ZA soundbar and tried for 2 hours trying to figure this out. Found your video and had it synced in seconds. Thanks a ton brother.
Hallo there and thanks! Just a question: once its conntected and works, how can I turn on soundbar with samsung remote without keeping it always on? (It's hooked to optical)
Since Samsung has more than likely gimped us Q70R owners of eARC, the only option is optical. If youre having problems with controlling optical with the Samsung One Remote, do what is shown in the video. If youre still having problems, do the same but when asked if it turned on/off, hit no and keep saying no until it gives you the option to search for your device model. Type your device model in and hit enter. It should give you a list of models. If your model doesnt show, scroll to the bottom of the list and it should show "more models". When you enter that, it should show the model you typed in. Its possible when just selecting the brand, the TV is selecting a default model. For some reason my Q70R will in fact connect to my Yamaha RX-A780 and be able to send signals through ARC, BUT once i turn it off, it will no longer function. So that tells me its just a firmware update away from working properly. Samsung gave the eARC firmware update to Europe (1374) for Q90R, but i guess theyre being stingy about it.
Took me three power test tries to find the right match for my old Boston Acoustics unit, (and then had to pull the plug to actually turn it off), but did the trick. Awesome job, Cspec Curt!
Very helpful! Coincidentally I have the same TV so it made it even easier! For some reason I was having trouble connecting the TV remote to the play bar through the Sonos app! Thank you!
Hey man thanks a lot for walking me through this setup. I main problem was syncing my volume with my tv remote and the app or website was no help. You saved me hours of headaches so thanks again!
This process happened automatically for me the first time. Then I accidentally unplugged my modem, and it made my TV forget my amp for some reason. I reset the TV 3 times to get it to reconnect to the amp and it never did on its own. Thank you for this video
Thanks friend though I wonder is it more or less as easy w/ an HDMI cable between the sound-bar &TV? As you've shown here w/ an Optical-cable between TV and sound-bar and perhaps which is better.
I've read numbers reviews on the high quality audio that you get from an optical cable as well as the smaller size of the cable compared to an HDMI cable being ran to your TV.
I'll do a video soon just moved into a new to me house. Did a full Sonos surround setup in the living room, a play 1 in each room, 1 play 1 in the screened in patio. I'm finishing up the pool area where I have the new Sonos Amp powering 2 Klipsch AW-650. I plan to mount them to Cedar post burying then closer ground in a flower bed to keep the sound from bothering the neighborhoods too much.... But this video was the one that solved my frustration yesterday...
TY. Using this method, I can control Vizio soundbar volume in the native TV app. But when using Chromecast with Google TV (HDMI 1, TV displays as "unknown"), the volume control no longer works. When I press volume button, TV displays "Audio Out/Optical" but the remote doesn't send any signal.
Thanks! Can I ask if you considered the Samsung sound bar? Why did you decide on Sonos? I’m leaning towards sonos just curious if the Samsung soundbar is equal quality. I stream a lot of music via Spotify. Thanks again! Great fast informative vid!
I actually went to the store with the intent on getting the samsung sound bar. I was able to compare the sound and the SOnos Is so much better quality!
This speaker doesn’t have CEC (arc) as a connection option. If it did there’d be no problem. It only offers optical. After completing the steps, optical appears on the screen when I use the Samsung remote, but the volume doesn’t actually change.
