*Great unit that’s easy to install and use. It’s relatively quiet compared to window units and **Fastly.Cool** , and it cools down our whole living room, side room and bathroom; which is a large space for any unit to cool.*
Sounds like non-standard wiring. If anything the black wire would go to the red. Be safe. If you have a wall switch that controls the power then open it and look inside if indeed there is only a red wire. In any case cut the power at the breaker before handling the wires
Ok, but if you have 2 switches 1 for fan 1 for light , and you have a remote and you stull want to use both Switches and still use the remote control fully functional what do you do ?? I don't want to have a dead switch and I want to be able to dim the lights ! A HUNTER AVIA II THANKS !!
Well, then you're in luck. Just connect the black to black and white to white and you should be all set to go (Assuming you don't have a red wire from the house)
Same problem for me. I think what it means is that the wires are not actually connected to a switch that you can flip ON-OFF. Either need to wire a switch, or install one of those ceiling fan remotes.
I figured out that on Leslie-Locke ceiling fans, the light has a white wire and black wire instead of a blue wire. The red wire goes to black on the light, and the white wire on the light goes to neutral on the fan and the neutral wire on the junction box itself.
