If you don’t want to spend the extra money on an adaptor, Amazon, along with most tech stores sell HDMI to USB-C cables, allowing you to connect your Mac directly to a monitor without the adaptor. Quality loss is minimal and at the end of the day, the monitor affects quality way more than the cable itself

I’d rather buy a docking station. Knowing that MacBooks are very minimalistic. It’s better to have every port on one thing instead of using dongles. Also most usb c to hdmi adapters are 30hz, while docking stations (at least the one I own) has hdmi 60hz and 4k support.

2 different screens. You can also make it one if you want.

If you set it correctly, it should just show the display. You can connect a Apple Keyboard and Mouse through Bluetooth Settings

i am doing the same thing, my monitor is 1080p 144hz but i am only getting 1080p 60hz also the picture is kinda blurry compared to when i use the monitor with my pc

In the system prefrences settings and then under Display there is an option called "mirror display" which has to be unchecked

usb 3.0 is not a display cable so it cannot display audio on monitors the only cables you can use are thunderbolt, hdmi display port etc hope this helps

With this unit, my Macbook pro, M2 didn't work with usb-c to hdmi, (worked fine with my dell i7) what worked was the DP to usb-c.

I cant do that on the M1 macbook pro. In my mac it does say it recognise the monitor. But no image displayed. I use the same cable on windows laptop, the cable works.
