I have used the canon apps. They are simple to use and easy to connect. The sony app is not even close. My A7IV wont connect to my iPhone or my iPad. After a lot of struggle even if it pairs, I cant view images or use remote connect.
The settings that worked for me. "Focus Area" set to "Wide". Go to Setup , page 5 " Touch Operation". Make sure " Touch Operation" is set to "On" . I have "Touch / Pad" set to "Both valid". " Touch Position Mode" set to " Absolute Position". Under Touch Pad settings, select 'Operation Area" as " Whole Screen". "Touch Func. in shooting" should be " Touch Focus". Each time after you start remote shooting on the iphone/ipad app, you must touch on the camera LCD panel. This will enable the touch operation on the app.
oh my goodness thank you!!!!! ive been struggling for months since I've bought my a7iv, ever since the new IEM update and now the Creators app, even my a7iii wouldnt connect to my phone, no matter what I tried, and its that little setting inside "setup" after pairing, then in "location information linkage" once I enabled all 3 options IT WORKED 😄
Thank you, Guy With Camera. You've ben busy lately :) I had it a few weeks ago, and I lost it, now I hope I will get it back (my A7iv connection, that is)
The worst app ever, not sure what the problem is but I get it connected for about 20 seconds, Iphone 11 max pro with A7V, but it does not allow me to take a picture and then disconnects every 10 seconds. This happened to me on my FX3 also and thought the wifi in the FX3 was broken. But it just makes me think this app is trash or something is not set up properly. Why the heck would it disconnect every 10-15 seconds and you id not show how to use it to trigger the camera. I imagine it is the round thing at the bottom, but when clicking/pressing that, it does not take an image?? And then when trying to connect again my phone asks me to join the A74 network again and again then says not able to join the network.. Any suggestions? I just want to use the app to trigger the camera, I do not even want my pictures to go to my phone. I guess I will just have to buy a cheap bluetooth trigger. I am wondering why your phone does not ask to join the A74 network like mine does every time. Every time I try to connect through the app a screen comes up asking me to join the network on my camera. Is there anyway of just connecting through bluetooth. ?
I dealt with this crap app for years and wireless sucks even on A1. Just connect Lightning to USB Camera Adapter to USB A-C Cable. Connect USB C to A7V and use Transfer and Tag to import by wire. Rock solid and you can skip importing from Imaging app.
@Guy With Camera GOOD NIGHT SIR Love from INDIA . I have doubt I want to take a camera for portrait and model photography and RU-vid video which camera is best Sony a7iv or Sony a7R IV and suggest me 2 lenses for my use please sir 🙏🙏
you can delete and share photos after importing them from iphone phots app. Thanks for the tracking tip, super useful, maybe sony will add focus pulling to the app as well it will make the camera complete for video shooting :)
So... WHY should I make sure I enable Location "Always" instead of "When using the app"? I do't open the app until I need it, and my phone already knows where I am at all times, so what benefit to me is the "Always" setting? Thank you!
Thank you for your video. But I still cannot use the app. The camera is paired on my iPhone 13, the WiFi and Bluetooth are connected but at camera verification step it tells me that something wrong and I have to verify my camera… Do you have any idea what I should do?
iphone 12 pro max took forever to pair with this - turned off bluetooth near my macbook which might have helped, eventually it found it. i had a bluetooth mouse and laptop nearby but it took 20 minutes of trying.
Isn’t RAW still not supported by apple ? I’ve been trying to import raw images form my Sony A7r iva but my iPhone can’t read them .. after searching found some articles says it’s still not supported for a7 iv and A7r iva .. do you know a way to import from my model to iPhone ?
i have a video on the ftp method, will work for your camera, on my channel. Apple support is slow, the siii and A1 barely got support, so you’re at the mercy of Apple updates
Thank U for your video, could you tell me if you know how can I just see the taken picture on my tablet or cell phone without having conflict between the shutter and the mobile? Thank U ( I use the RMT-P1Bt shutter to release the shutter from the camera, but I´d like to see the pictures that I´ll be doing on my tablet with out go to the camera to watch te photo). Thank U
Hi, ty for the guide. Is a7 iv's app connection much better and easier than a7s iii? My a7s iii fails to connect to the app half the time using either nfc or wifi.
yes, the low energy Bluetooth is alway connected if you follow the guide. technically same app, but Sony made a different portion for the A7iv. I have the siii as well and the A7iv part is a lot better.
Maybe that’s why everytime I kept tryin to connect my aii to my phone it wouldn’t go through I thought u jus turn blue tooth on & they connect didn’t kno u need to download the app
Sony A7M3 when using imaging edge, when my camera is connected to my phone the pictures get put onto the phone immediately, by passing the camera memory completely , I want my pictures to be saved on the SD card on the camera not onto my phone, but I can't seem to stop it from doing that?
Is there an app, 3rd party or Sony, to WIRELESSLY tether WHILE shooting automatically? I don't understand why this is so difficult to find. I don't need to control the camera wirelessly, I just need to review photos on a LARGER screen, such as an iPad, to make sure they're in focus. They can be JPGs, I don't need them to be RAW. How do I do this? I do NOT want to be tethered with a wire.
@@CharlieVN GOOD MORNING SIR Love from INDIA . I have doubt I want to take a camera for portrait and model photography and RU-vid video which camera is best Sony a7iv or Sony a7R IV and suggest me 2 lenses for my use please sir 🙏🙏
I'm looking for this solution too. I need to do exactly what you're saying. But on location. Even if it's just jpegs. I just need to review. Lemme know if you found a solution please!
Thank you for your video. I was wondering, since to having this WiFi functionality constantly turned on drain's the battery very fast, is there a way to turn of WiFi and use only Bluetooth for remotely Controlling shutter speed, taking photos remotely etc.?
I don’t think so, only GPS is that efficient. would be nice if the app could do that, but would likely come at a cost of no real-time display (why WiFi is needed)
share button, open in lightroom (at least that was how it worked in my previous video on this subject). I dont have a lightroom sub, however, ios will support eventually, currently they support the siii from last i checked, that took a long time, but eventually happened support.apple.com/en-us/HT211241
You're connecting the camera to the phone via Bluetooth. Isn't choosing WiFi instead WAY faster for transferring files in realtime (wireless tethering)?
the Bluetooth exists to trigger the WiFi functionality as needed for a seamless transition. Bluetooth isn’t doing much other than to turn on the WiFi or send gps location. Bluetooth is the quality of life interface.
I was wondering this my self. Since to having this WiFi functionality constantly turned on drain's the battery very fast, is there a way to turn of WiFi and use only Bluetooth for remotely Controlling shutter speed etc.?
My Sony A7IV and Sony A7CMII won't connect to my iPhone 14 ProMax through the Creators App. Per Sony Technical Support, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is not a compatible device with my cameras. This again per Sony Technical Support!
Very helpful info. Will the Imaging Edge app work with the Intervalometer? It wouldn't with the a7III. Would be very helpful. I could sit in the car while the timelapse chugs away. Thanks
@@CharlieVN that's fine with me. I set it to 6000 shots and quit when I get ready. Mostly Milky Way, nightscape stuff. I'll take it. Mine should be here tomorrow.
“registered cameras other than above” button that should bring you to the A7iv specific section. it’s a bit confusing because it’s a completely different interface.
@@CharlieVN just figured it out. There was some conflict in Bluetooth settings that needed to be addressed. I had the camera set for Bluetooth remote control while connected to my gimbal as well as Bluetooth access for control via my iPad for image edge software . Turned off the route setting for gimbal and now it connects. Thank you
I dont think so, however, you should be able to use FTP + transfer and tagging ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-06wpRsQsoiE.html no idea if it works with raw, previously it did not, however things have changed. Set to auto ftp
Exactly what I want to know. Is there an app, 3rd party or Sony, to WIRELESSLY tether WHILE shooting automatically? I don't need to control the camera wirelessly, I just need to review photos on a LARGER screen to make sure they're in focus. They can be JPGs, I don't need them to be RAW. Hi, thanks for a great video. I am using the A7M4 with the latest Imaging Edge software and would appreciate your help. The Touch focus and Tracking options have disappeared from the Imaging Edge menu and after trying for days, I can't get them back into the menu. Can you please help
@@NT_1 after setting up the touch focus options, the secret is to touch your focus point on the LCD screen, this enables the touch options in the menu, crazy system but it works
Did everything you said. App and camera are paired and see each other. When trying to transfer, all 3 green lights come on, and "connecting" spins, but after a minute "cannot connect to camera". Have Uninstaller and reinstalled app, shut both phone and camera off then back on, have re-paired, etc. Still same issue. Every time. Help! SOLVED: Disable VPN on the phone and everything worked correctly
I can't even get pass the "You need to agree to our privacy policy" *I click* then "An error occurred. Please wait a while and try again." Does anyone know what to do?
on my camera i have it set , raw/jpeg ( raw slot 1 , jpeg slot 2 ) when i open the app , i can only see raw files....how could i change that ? thank you , please help
After successful connection, if i switch off the camera, am not able to reconnect to the phone after switching on the camera. So i have to pair the two again from start. How do i get the camera to reconnect to the phone automatically?
@@CharlieVN thanks, i actually found a solution. My bluetooth for phone is always on and connected to a different device. Deactivating bluetooth phone and activating it solved the situation
Ok, so remote shooting without WiFi is not working? The problem is that WiFi drains Battery very fast when on. I have to turn on/off plain mode all the time.
I know what an A7IV is but what the heck is an A7 Mark IV? I don't see it on Amazon, B&H etc! Is it that some canon guys get confused? I even checked Sony's lit! Not there either.
it's pretty darn good now, I woke up this morning, turned on imaging edge, and boom, connected to the A7iv........ and I was curious about the battery life drain, small to negligible? I was using the cam last night to make this video, and this morning, it's at 98%. The low energy blue tooth doesnt use much juice and so convenient.
Finally I was able to transfer my raw files but just for 8 files took about a minute or so . I can only imagine how long it would take me to transfer about 50 raw files ! 🥴😬 hope they can speed up the raw transfer !
@@CharlieVN M = Model. MK = MARK. its not a canon. And they used it as a marketing ploy. They never sold Canon Tmk2i's. That was a canon line that is still out there. They don't say Canon R mk 5. Show me a video where a Sony rep calls it the mark anyting
Its funny in a world where all the youngsters are abbreviating everything and turning all phrases into acronyms some camera RU-vidrs add a whole word to a model name lol.
Apparently they've changed the app. Nothing really maps to your video and the damned thing (A7RIVa) will not pair Bluetooth. This stuff shouldn't be so hard! BTW - tech geek who's worked in IT for over 30 years saying this!
thanks for the video, but the app is the most absurd sh* i have seen in a long time: you cant connect to the a7iv via bluetooth without being in wifi, now it doesnt recognize the blueooth alone, it simply doenst work and every other button opens another page, because those lazy fucks wouldnt design a simple low budget in-app page to help you out with.
I was wondering this my self. Since to having this WiFi functionality constantly turned on drain's the battery very fast, is there a way to turn of WiFi and use only Bluetooth for remotely Controlling shutter speed etc.?
