Hey Jason, I am a full time RU-vidr and professional eater that started doin' food challenges but moved into Vlogs a few years ago, I have over 360 Vlogs alone with a cell phone and a GoPro. I will still use a go Pro but just purchased the A7 iv and about to do an unboxin'. I do not know NOTHING about fancy cameras but I am divin' in. So glad I found your channel, thanks for breakin' the ISO down for me (only half lost now) and I subbed.
I watch your RU-vid channel and saw you bought the new Sony A7 4. I know you like to edit your butt off as well as get the audio and video above par and I a thank you for all your hard work. family loves your content,
@@testchannel4933 Hey Test thanks, appreciate you as a member to the Disposal Team. Yeah I was searchin' RU-vid and tryin' to soak up some knowledge about this new camera but man oh man there are a lot of features on here and I am just use to a GoPro lol
It's so good that you raised about people's mental health at the end. this is so important and especially guys are often not good at making themselves vulnerable and talking to someone. Keep it up. Rest of the video was great too
The color science of the latest Sony cameras is awesome, i still use the old Sony X3000 for vlogging which has super natural colors but i wish Sony would release a new version with more color modes and screen.
The end totally caught me off guard, but I loved it, only because that me right now Even if no one messaged me, you basically already did 🙏🏻 thank you sir 💪🏻
Hey brother...Congratulations on graduating! You're one of my favourite teachers right now. Your presentation and delivery is perfect for me and I always find you addressing things that not only I wanted to know but needed to know. I hope you grow in to the millions bro, you deserve it!
Big congrats on the graduation Jason! I'm a new subscriber because you've hit the right time to talk a lot about the A7IV, so that's how I found you. Great content otherwise as well so looking forward to watch you even more. All the best for the coming holidays, so noble of you to mention the care for others who'd need some attention and love right now.
I don't even have the camera yet but I am soooo excited to work with it after your videos. I just upgraded and am going to hopefully grow my RU-vid with it in 2022. Thanks for the great content.
Congrats man.... much respect,...👌 The more I learn about the A7IV, I feel like it's the best camera value for the money and my needs,.... Still waiting for mine.... Thanks for the continued A7IV series...
Do you think it is interesting to buy an Atomos Ninja V to compensate for the poor quality of the Sony IV lcd screen? the idea is to use it in photography essentially, but if I can win something in video, it’s perfect
Good video! Gerald undone touched on the dual native iso in the A7SIII, and found that the base, and second base ISO are always the same number of stops apart from each other regardless of their actual number. And if I remember correctly, they actually work out to be proper exposure since you’re supposed to over expose s log. So proper exposure at base ISO in S Cinetone, is still proper exposure at base ISO in S log even though it goes up to 800 because you are 1.7 stops over. Hope that made sense LOL, he did a much better job explaining it then I just did.
i personally don't exposure with the metering anyway. It is way too inaccurate. I expose my scenes using false color. Much more accurate tool for exposure I use for all my commercial work
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema 100% agreed, the metering on the camera is garbage and inconsistant. False colour is by far the best. I normally use 1st or 2nd base ISO and expose using VND. Changing ISO is so 2 years ago 😂
Congrats on the degree! Especially as a parent already...that's tough. Your ungraded footage at 10K looks pretty good.... much better than the A7S3 would at that many stops over either of its bases. I think a takeaway with the low light comparison between the two bodies, and what often doesn't get mentioned, is that the A74 will be inherently cleaner at any given (sane) ISO because it's oversampling from its ~6k readout, thereby also descaling noise in body. Much different than the A7S3 which only slightly descales but does have a lot of smeary noise reduction added, especially at the 2nd gain stage. I'd love to try the FX6's version of that sensor, but apparently they're all still in Tokyo, awaiting the oldest man puling the slowest rickshaw to the jankiest rowboat before they'll get here sometime next year...maybe. In the meantime, I made a few videos about these bodies...check em out. 😎
With my A7 IV and the Slog 3 is at 800 iso in auto, that's why! I put in manual iso and my minimum base in slog 3 was at iso 200, which also had an impact on my exposure!
This is where they should bring AI to be able to pick itself the best Iso based on noise image library internal samples results. Knowing it is close to a range where it would be better seems easy to develop. So the camera would itself switch from 400 to 500 for best result. It does not need to be the basic standard feature but a AI NOISE mode you could select. I was a developer, so it is in my instinct to try to bring new features.
I just wish that Sony would let us turn off internal noise reduction for video like on Canon and Panasonic cameras. It would help a lot and allow us to use noise reduction higher quality than the camera's own.
Thanks Jason! I shoot a lot of low light stuff and have always been "afraid" to crank up the ISO...but man your footage was SO CLEAN! Appreciate the tips!
Congratulations !!! Thanks for the bunch of very important infos about that new camera. Happy New Year and give us more content, please... :) Stay safe.
you get the cleanest and best image ever if you get your basic shutterspeed and aperture correct, for that you need ISO and the sony7iv does an excellent job delivering a good image quality at ISO 10k, even ISO20k, if you wanted to get some nice nighttime pictures dont get discouraged to use a higher ISO, test out your own cameras max potneital and then learn how to adjust pictures on photolab dxO..
Helpful information, well presented. Nice touch at the end with the important message. It's always a good reminder and has me thinking about the people in my life---and others I may encounter along the way. So thanks for that.
Thanks for this video, one question about a7iv audio levels vs the a7iii, it seems I have to up the levels from around 2-3 on the a7iii to about 7-10 on the a7iv when using my blink saramonic lavaliers wireless system, have you encountered this also?
Bro I’m subscribed because you have really professional skils. I’m ready to purchase my first camera for video production and podcasts, Is it worth to buy the sony as3 or is there a better option for video production. So yes wich lens is good for video production for podcasts, sometimes in lowlight conditions Greetings from the Netherlands
All dependant on what you want your subject exposure to be. No real correct way. Maybe preserve skin tones at 60% exposure or preserve highlights or don’t underexposed shadows. Too many ways to expose
Thanks for the information! Quick question and hopefully not a dumb one, when it comes to dual native ISO, does that pertain only to video or does it apply to stills also. Will a still shot at ISO 3200 be cleaner than shot at 2500?
hey man its not a dumb question...I'm wondering the same thing.... I do photo and so far everything I've seen is just saying 400 iso is where the dual iso starts .... but what does that mean??? That the camera is garbage for anything above 400?? I used a a7ii before and I was able to use iso's up to 1600 with no issues...but now the sony a7iv is telling me I shouldn't do that?? Something aint' right... and I'm talking photo as well....not video
@@mariomalmanza hey there.. have had the A7IV for a while now so understand it a bit more. For stills the second native ISO is 400. Doesn't mean that above that is garbage though. I shoot a lot at ISO 1600 and sometimes at 3200. Looks pretty good. Usually better to try to expose correctly at the higher ISOs. You can bring up the exposure and shadows in post but you get more noise that way. If I'm shooting for example at around ISO 250 or 320 I'll just increase it to 400 and bring up my shutter speed. If you do video and use for example Slog-3 than it's ISO 800 and second native 3200.
Hi Jason.. thanks for this beautiful informative video. I have some questions. I am using Fuji xt4 for my video and photo work. (I am not a professional yet). I want to switch/upgrade to Sony. Will the Sony A7iv serves the purpose. Switching from Fuji xt4 to Sony? And the 4K 60p with super 35 crop.. please suggest. Thanks and congratulations for your graduation. 👏👏
Thank you so much for the video!! I've been looking for a cage for the a7iv, where did you get yours?! Does it work with a7iii cages? Its so new that no one has info out on it
Hey man, new subscriber here! Discovered you from Peter Lindgren, love your content 👌🏻 out of interest which lens did your shoot the low light stuff with?
New sub here. Love the info, and thanks for sharing. Just a suggestion(take it or leave it). It was tough watching the info while listening to the loop of the squirrel hip hop in the background. ✌🏼
Hi Jason and congratulations on your exams ! Perfect instructive video for me, as I am mainly a photographer...AND YES, thanks for also taking care of other people. Happy to see that there are still people like you on earth !
