It’s hardly necessary to define anger, because everyone knows what it is. And nearly everyone understands it from personal experience.
Anger: An intense emotion caused by real or imaginary injury or insult.
It is wise to remember that we are always at a disadvantage the moment a negative emotion causes us to lose control of ourselves.
54:33 The Universe is not all good and not all bad in action. The idealist knows that what we call 'the misery of living' is due to man's failure to understand the laws governing his own conduct
* Anger is universal and essentially counter-productive. Manly Hall describes the danger and absurdity of certain kinds of anger, and, presents useful, practical advice on how we can reduce or remove much of the anger in our own lives.

my boi manly: we are still unwillingly to accept the truth of self improvement. we try to dilute the whole problem and throw it upon society. we take this attitude that if everyone was what they ought to be. then we would be alright. this is a beautiful thought but just is not going to happen. so therefore we have to be right in spite of people instead of because of them. and we cannot wait for the universal reformation of mankind before we can improve are self's. so true for today. Manly Hall is the best orator I've ever heard. Rarely says "um". His flow is amazing. His points hit like a battering ram. His humor is subtle and fatherly. one can tell he was a caring and unselfish man. A beautiful soul. I'd bet if he wasn't from LA there'd be movies about him, just like how Jesus was ignored in Nazareth. Did he look at notes or just wing it? I sure wish I'd have heard of him back in the 80's.

Mr. Hall spoke extemporaneously without notes. The announcements after the lecture were read from 3x5 cards.

Every time when I listen Manly I have feeling of the hope. He always beautifully with kind of funny jargon explain relationship between action vs reaction. As far as I am listening him that I come to understand why he was murdered. He said so many things that they must “tickled” some of the politicians elites....I found him a very motivated to me.

Powerful. So relevant for the times we're living in. Too many ill-informed but well intentioned morons think they have the right to decide for others and to impose their beliefs onto others. You have the right to be angry, just don't use your anger to intervene and infringe upon the rights of others.
@pacochawa2746
@pacochawa2746 3 года назад
Well said about rights. You have the right to feel and think whatever you want. Nobody has the right to harm anybody, no matter how rich and corrupt you are. Morality is easy, tell that to the modern so called justice system which actually does more harm than any individual. All sponsored by the ignorance of the masses. Ignorance is our slavery, only knowledge is what frees us. Yet those that show truth get martyrd? This needs to stop.

I've always had difficulty in controlling anger. I find it to be a very powerful emotion to manage once you have given in to it for as long as I have. I have conditioned myself to it/taken root in my psyche. It may sound crazy but I almost feel as if it's a separate entity within me laying dormant waiting for the right moment/trigger to take over. Much like walking around with a dog 10x my size. Easy to manage when calm but its hell to reign in once it is triggered. Then there is the self abuse of reliving the moment that triggered the emotion that makes this even worse. I may find myself mumbling about what was said and what I should have said/done. 🤣 I've known some folks that have the gift of being able to control their anger. Very little will get a rise out of them. At least visibly. They may go around the corner in private somewhere and scream their lungs out later but I never see/hear it. Like Dr. Buddy Rydell said(Jack Nicolson, Anger Mangement) "Temper is the one thing we cant get rid of by losing it. Goosfraba" Where are you Anger Allies? 😉🤣 Happy holidays to all!

A psychotic state is, in part, characterized by the sense of an 'other' in control of one's actions, which the self seems to observe, yet somehow is unable to act upon. The most interesting part of this, imo, is that another person, looking at the eyes of the person in a psychotic state, will fail to recognize them, and also experience the sense that something(someone?) is looking out through those eyes. Maybe anger is a milder form of this seeming 'possession'.

Anger just makes problems worse. Hate feeds hate and it consumes your energy and eventually extinguishes you. Negative emotions use up the lions share of our energy, energy that could go to constructive use. Our energy stagnates in negativity but flourishes when we are happy and positive. We need to learn to sublimate and transform the bad into good.

Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems. Problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion.
@EddieLeal

To some this emotion is a kin to an addiction. Over time it becomes second nature in a person.

If I see someone beating his dog or child, am I wrong to get angry? If I see selfish, lying and corrupt politicians hurting my fellow citizens and causing suffering in general, am I wrong to get angry? If I see teenagets bullying or abusing an old man or woman, am I wrong to get angry? If I see a lawyer defending a murderer and pedophile, am I wrong to get angry?

Enlightening. But do the men, women or children suffering centuries of injury within systems of corruption, from whom they can not trust to bring them justice, have the right to at least righteous indignation? This is a divided and severely tainted world in which we currently live. When the human family, like a body made of many parts, ceases to cooperate, chaos ensues. If the human condition is dysfunctional, then naturally, the emotional responses will be also. With that said, it is my opinion that petty anger has no place amongst man. But, controlled righteous indignation is required to bring about a purge of systemic injustices.
