I like that you speak about mindset and how it crosses over in life/poker etc..You also handled the rude chat about you being a “know it all” when they’re on your channel listening to your tips/advice.Appreciate the content.

Small stakes tourney swings are crazy on ACR. Seemed a bit off when I won 1 out of first 25 flips. It was very tilting. 6 tourneys with multiple buy ins. All 600 plus fields and finished 18th, 8th and 2nd in 3 of them. These videos are very helpful for dealing with swings.

Yeah, it can been very tough when you are running bad in tournaments. You lose to a two or three outer on the final table or close to it and it can be the difference of x10.

Are you still playing on ACR? It’s the only site available to me that I can find but I’m skeptical of it obviously because of what people like JL say about it. I just don’t have anywhere else to play

On variance: First time I EVER played poker after watching WPT I played a freeroll with 6000 people. I ended up winning first place, and $200. Two days later the same site had another freeroll, this time with 10 000 people since it was a Saturday. I ended up 7, winning $10. I figured it didn't seem all that hard so I deposited $500 for maximum bonus on a PartyPoker skin and got enrolled in a freeroll for new players that ran once a month. I played against 400 or so, and I ended up winning it for $1000. Yeah, that's how ridiculous it can be. Don't worry though, I ran equally bad later on for a lot, lot more...

One issue I see, and one I used to have myself, when playing in small and mid stakes tournaments is people's positional awareness. They think about their range in early and late positions, but fail to think about an opponent's range from those same positions. Considering what position your opponent is opening or raising from is just as important as figuring out your range.

I play $5-20 pokerstars. If i PF raise even min. from UTG with PPAA it often results in looking very strong. Probably folds all round.

What are your thoughts on using M instead of BB to determine stack size and tournament life expectancy?
@PokerCoaching
@PokerCoaching 4 года назад
I have never used M. The same is true for most strong tournament players. M implies your plan is to blind out. That is certainly not the plan.

@@PokerCoaching lol, relatively speaking. I trust them more than I do the others, who I don't trust at all. Also, I would never leave more than $500 on their site. I have cashed out twice without issue so, so far so good.

@@smokinjoe4709 Of course they'll cash your withdrawals. They wouldn't last a day if people start complaining that they're not getting their money. The problem is, what happens if they start to go under? Are they going to have the money to cash everyone out?
@user-un-known
@user-un-known 2 года назад
@@colintimp1372 So what if they don't have the money or will to cash everyone out? That's part of playing for money. Part of gambling. One may play pool for 50 bucks with wrong people at wrong place and get stabbed trying to leave after winning. C'est la vie. I'd imagine people with enough brains to consistently win would be aware of those risks and accept them. So it's their choice.

Great content - too much fear of busting out was the #1 thing holding me back when I started playing tournaments. That fear didn't exist for me in cash games because I could just reload and continue. As soon as I became more sanguine about busting out, my ROI went way up (though my cashing % went down). I wish this was a concept I understood sooner. I need to work on my calling ranges in some of the low/mid-stakes games though. I found myself folding TPTK the other day after I c-bet, v1 calls and v2 raises large (on 60BB stacks). Turned out v1 had TP 3rd kicker (JQ) and v2 had TP 2nd kicker (JK). My AJ was in great shape to triple up but I folded it thinking no way 1 pair was good. UGH - was I being a nit there?
@lightonstillwaters6789
@lightonstillwaters6789 4 года назад
Hi, yes you were, but info needed, like preflop action, pot size in BB preflop, your c-bet size, reraise was 3x or higher, how much stack left if you call V2, and most importantly V2 aggression stat or seen action. If V2:has 3 bet a few times before, it makes a call or even 4 bet jam more optimal, as you can improve if they have 2 pr, and you deny them free card on lower kicker and other draws.

My parents are American. Im not. I c 2 types..democrat/republican. Can u define poker players type as such? I put u as Democrat leaning. And the chip race podcast as strong Republican. It seems obvious to pigeon hole many American poker players if u ask a few Qs. Does this give an advantage to thinking players?
