I just love steampunk! I would dress up like that every day if I could! Lol! I’m finishing up a boho junk journal and my next one was going to be a steampunk theme so this video came at the perfect time! Thanks so much! I love your style!
Dear Barbara, I've missed you this previous week, please don't leave again, hahaha. Jugjing by the previous comments many of us didn't really know what steampunk design was, so thanks so much teacher. But what makes you unique is your attitude. Before mine there were 124 comments.......and you answered to almost every and each one. Your respect for your viewers is what distinguishes you from other RU-vidrs. Keep going, you are awesome.
Thank you so much Stella! I’m happy my intro was helpful (I learned a lot by putting this together. I genuinely love my awesome viewers and it humbles me that you take time out of your day to hang out with me! ❤️☺️
My absolute favorite style!! 😍 I am SO looking forward to seeing Part 2!! As soon as you say, "...and of course I need to add..." and you start giggling, I know you're reaching for the wax! Love it. Echoing other commenters, the opening sequence about the definition of Steampunk was perfect, as was Douglas Fetherling's quote "Steampunk is a genre that imagines how different the past might have been had the future come earlier." Very succinct. Well done!
Thank you April! This journal is the perfect excuse for using lots of gilding wax haha! I'm happy you enjoyed the intro as I really enjoyed putting that together! :)
I've never really understood what steampunk was until now. Thanks for your little lesson, Barbara! Well done! I continue to learn so much from you---and your delight of using gilding wax makes my day. I really need to order some. Love the journal so far, and can't wait to see the rest!
I start chuckling when you mention the rose gold gilding wax ~ perfecr journal for it though. Thank you for the steampunk info. Your opening sequence with moving gears looks very professional. I am looking forward to Part 2! Your attention to detail is inspirational.
I never understood steampunk before, so I loved the intro. Everything you do always looks great! Can't wait to see the rest! And that wax is everything! Just waiting to see how you'll incorporate splatters. Lol
Wow Barbara, you've made an amazing base for what will certainly become a gorgeous Steampunk Journal 😘😘😘 I'm looking forward to the next episode. Hugs, Maureen
Hello Sweetie, you are doing a wonderful job so far and I love the way you are “Dragonflying” the Steampunk theme. I do understand the ahw you have for this theme, I looooovvvveeee it too, but hey.... it is only an inspiration for us if you adapt it to you own “dragonfly” style 😉😘😘
The copper guilding wax is perfect for steampunk elements Barbara x💗👌 well done for your first time...love it so much, thankyou too for your research on the meaning and elements of *steampunk* Big hugs, much love xx💗💗💗
I really like the steampunk style too but, like you, find it tricky to define, so your intro is much appreciated. The quote is perfect! Love how you are adding your own touches to the journal and I can’t wait for part two. It promises to be fabulous ⚙️😍
I can’t wait for the next video and see what you do with this journal. So far it’s fabulous. Love that gilding was on the metal items. That cover is so cool. TFS! ❤️
I have never made a streampunk journal but I really love the style. I don’t have any items to make one...I thought. I can now see that I don’t need a lot to make one so it’s absolutely one my “ to do “ list. You shall have a HUGE thanks for open my eyes for the gilding wax... I have a BIG box with all the colors in world 😂🤣 almost, from my days where I painted furniture, I used a lot on the metals parts and I also sold them in my store. When I closed I had so much left. I didn’t knew what to with it, and had forgotten all about them. And now...OMG I absolutely love the look I gets and I have so many colors so I play a lot with them. I also have a lot of foil and I have just made some stuff where I mixed paper and foil for details and it looks amazing 😀👍 So again a huge thanks for all your inspiration 🙏💙 Hugs Tina 💙🦋 🌞🌻
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you are getting inspiration here to use what you already have, that’s awesome! Would love to see your steampunk journal when you make it! ❤️
Barbara I think your steam punk journal is coming out very well! You are doing a great job and I can’t wait to see your finished feminine steam punk journal!! Hugs💕
It is fantastic! Suuuper, was du bisher ausgesucht und kreiert hast! Ich habe erst gerade vor ein paar Tagen eine Steampunk angehauchte Karte gemacht. ❤️❤️❤️love to Austria, monique
This is my favorite genre. But like others I hoard my elements instead of creating with them. Maybe this will help me use my collection instead of hoarding it. I also love your videos and can’t wait to see them. See you in the next one.
Good morning Barbara, very interesting the steam punk method to make journals🤩. Btw the rings are called spring rings, I think. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend ❣
I've got the same kind of pressure feeling as you, so I avoid attempting one completely. You've given me a bit of inspiration, so I'll watch to see the completed journal. It will inspire me I'm sure since you're very good at what you do and it appears you are on the right track despite any doubts you may have.
Thank you so much for your encouragement, Erica! I hope my videos will inspire you to give it a try! Mine has gotten a life of its own in the meantime and I’m obsessed 😃
You've really inspired me to do this too, Barbara! I have a Cinch, which I have used a lot. I'd get a bigger wire if you possibly can. You can always pull it apart and put it on a bigger one later...though. Hugs! So looking forward to this series! Peggy
Thank you Peggy! Awesome that you will be joining me! Those wires are hard to get here and the original WeRMemoryKeepers are way too expensive here....
Wow, it’s such a beauty. I can’t wait to see the finished touch of your beautiful work. It is so very inspiring! I can’t wait to get mine started...... I have bought one of full Tim Holtz junk journal long ago that have more of manly steampunk style, but I would love to see the feminine side !!😍😍. I have a lot of Tim Holtz stuff-scrapbooking papers , embellishments, etc I have been hoarding them for long time since they are my favorite....waiting for this perfect moment to learn more from you. It’s going to be fun!!!
Aaaaw, thank you sweet Sonya! I would love for you to join me in making one of these! Don’t forget the gilding wax! 😂😂😂 I hope by the end you will have plenty of inspiration 😃
What a professional and informative tutorial!!! You are just great at anything you have done so far🥰love having you a part of the Digital Collage Club team ❤️
It's looking great so far! I'm a little worried that the corner rivets on the cover may be a problem for your binding system though - but I'm sure you'll make it work 😊
Loved your intro with all your research info ... fascinating! The cover is awesome and I really like the pages you've chosen. Looking forward to seeing Part 2!
Clever girl. That looks so great. My brother used the Steampunk theme for his 50th birthday. It was so full of imagined things he created. Looking forward to part 2!
Hi Barbara - Loving your take on steampunk so far. Can't wait to see more. Really like that you are going with a more feminine theme too. I like all the male genre but feel like it can get a little heavy sometimes. TFS
This is the second time I've watched this and I'm so glad you have done this theme. I really love the way the cover turned out, I can't wait for the next episode. I've been doing some shopping and I found some eyelets like yours on the Tim holtz website.
I love steampunk journals but I can’t afford to buy scrapbook pages or digitals So I just print out random giggle images and back the pages 😊 I’ll have to try this some day
This is an excellent video! Love how you defined “Steampunk” in the beginning, also love how you show the process of putting all the elements together. BEAUTIFUL JOURNAL! Also, butterflies are my fav! When you speed up your inking and the roughing up/sanding....it kinda sounds like a butterfly flapping its wings!! Haha! TYFS! NEW SUBBIE HERE MICHIGAN USA ❤️🦋💜
Hello and welcome Cindy! Thank you so much for your kind comment! I’m obsessed with this journal at the moment and I’m adding the final touches! What a fascinating genre to work with. I hope you enjoy part 2! 😃❤️
I love steampunk- think I’ll give it a try! Also- I have tried to splatter the Tim Holtz distress daubbers as you do-it doesn’t work for me! All I get is dots. You have a magic touch I guess.
Thank you Jayne. You should definitely give it a try! :) If you are only getting dots with the distress stain then you are not banging them hard enough. Try it again! :)
I ❤️❤️❤️steampunk... But I think you know that already! Ha ha ha... 😂😂😂 the journal is looking fab so far, nice to pretty it up I like that you took out the gentlemen. The costumes are my thing, I love the use of the corsets and the top hats with goggles you could also add flowers to those... I really need to get mine underway but so many others to do still... Not enough hours.... Ha ha ha 🤣🤣 We have a convention here in the UK every August.... Well probably not this year but if you want to see it there are a few videos I know of, while they were there. Its called The Asylum if you fancy checking it out... The women's costumes may help! Have a great weekend sweetie xx❤️❤️
Thank you sweetie! I’m also loving this theme so much, I’m obsessed! 😃. I will go check out The Asylum, would love to see one for real with all the amazing costumes!!! Have a fabulous weekend sweetie! ❤️
@@49dragonflies oh no wasn't expecting you to like there stuff but he does show in one of the videos some of the streets and markets etc where people are dressed up
The glue needle is so expensive and tried many different needles but they are not rust free and colored my glue. So I bought some cheap small glue bottles with needle from “ søsterne Grene” and They are the only needle i have found that works..please if any know where to find needles that don’t color the glue, please tell 🙏
