@@guitarschoollive Thanks for those additional links. I use Studio One Pro 5. I actually set up an automation lane to send program changes, volume and balance control from the daw out to my FCB1010 controller to change parameters on the different MIDI-attached devices, but would love to get more tutorials on setting up CC values, LFO and modulation parameters, etc.

Hello @eddy.thirteen2135, thank you for reaching out to us with your question. You can use a USB to midi cable, however, the only cable we recommend is the Roland UM-ONE MK2 usb to midi cable. Most of the cheaper cables you find on Amazon and/or Ebay usually cannot handle the large data packets that are needed for the FCB1010. The cheaper cables are hit or miss. I hope this helps. Hello 13StJimmy, unfortunately we are unable to assist with Logic as it is a Mac program and we only have PC’s. Try searching for how to send program change messages using a midi controller to Logic. I’m sure someone has posted an article or video on the subject. Good Luck, Guitar School Live

yo I had this problem using Pro tools in windows 10..... I had to go into midi settings and add amplitube as default through instrument using channel 1

Googling "midi cc defaults" leads to several sites that list MIDI CC 102-119 as "undefined". So they don't seem to have a default function.

Hello @Malcolm Hebb, we're glad you found the video useful. You're absolutely correct about the possibility of creating a loop. Some audio interfaces create loops and some don't. Since most of our subscribers don't understand midi it is easier to have them connect both. We will usually be contacted on our Facebook support page if a loop occurs. @@guitarschoollive Ah makes sense. Fortunately, although I don't have much MIDI experience, I have plenty of experience debugging and configuring hardware and software, lol. So the loop possibility was my first thought. I don't use Tonex. My DAW is Reaper, but so far I've only tried the controller with standalone Amplitube. It's also Amplitube 4 and not 5, but all the same steps still worked.

@Malcolm Hebb thanks for the response. You will find that Amplitube requires a double tap on the pedals when you switch focus from one effect to another. This is a quirk in how Amplitube reads and responds to CC messages. We have a number of Reaper videos scheduled for the new year and one in particular that addresses this problem. If your computer has Bluetooth capabilities you can get a wireless midi device for a few dollars more than a midi to USB cable. The Expression Pedals on the FCB1010 do not have a toe activated button; you must program on of the numbered pedals to toggle the Expression Pedals. I hope this helps. Hello Carine B67, thank you for reaching out to us. Even though we do not have your amplifier we took a look at the midi implementation in the manual. According to the chart you can send Program Change(PC) messages to the amplifier. You can also set an expression pedal to cc# 14 to control volume. Again, we do not have the pedal so there is no way for us to test it. Follow the procedure in the video for PC messages but make the PC messages 1 through 5 on the first row instead of what is in the video. Follow the procedure for the expression pedal and test it. Hello @One Sixth Shape, thanks for your question. Numerical order is a perfect way to set up Amplitube if you have made your own banks and/or perform live with a set-list. The FCB 1010 out of the box only sends PC messages in numerical order. The purpose of the tutorial is to show how to program it to go to different presets. There is a quick way to set Amplitube to change presets in numerical order if you have 2 pedals on the FCB1010 set to send CC messages. 1. Go to settings 2. Control 3. Control Change Global 4. then learn Preset Next and Preset Previous This will work, but be aware that Amplitube requires a double tap on the pedals to activate a command when you switch focus from one pedal to another. If we understand your question correctly you would like to set your pedals as a global function meaning pedal 6 will always be delay, pedal 7 always reverb and so on. Unfortunately Amplitube does not have Global effects. You must save your effects configuration with each preset. I hope this helps. Pedals 1 -5 will change to the preset number you entered in the PC1 boxes. Pedals 6-10 will control effects and amps. In Amplitube anytime you see an asterisk next to the preset name you must save the preset or you will lose your settings when you change. Whenever you midi learn a component Amplitube reads it as an edit which must be saved. As for global controlling components, Amplitube only has a handful of effects that persist when you change presets. Hello Luke, it seems as though your preset pedals are off by 1. Try setting the controller using the editor again and check the PC numbers. With using the pedals to turn effects on and off Amplitube reads CC messages sequentially, which means you will have to double tap to turn effects on and off if you change from one effect to another. Even though we don’t have access to the Behringer X32 we researched and found that the unit does accept note messages for toggling parameters. Purchase a USB to midi cable Option 1 is the preferred method as it will be stable but is more expensive Option 2 is affordable but only a few cables have been reported as sufficient to handle the needs of the FCB 1010. If you go for option 2, many users have used the following cables with success: Roland UM-ONE M-Audio Uno iConnectivity mio We have limited experience with the performance of the Roland UM-ONE and only word of mouth from users of the other 2 cables. However we know for sure that the cheaper cables will not work as we have offered support to numerous users and it always came down to the cheaper cables. Hello @Sub Normal29, First, there is no such thing as a dumb question. You are simply trying to understand something based on the information you possess. So let's expand your information. The Fcb 1010 is grouped in 10 banks of 10. To put it in terms of your Akai, if you program your 8 pads but press a button and have access to 8 more programs, you would now have 2 banks. Now you will have to select which bank you want to program. Again, the Fcb 1010 has 10 banks to choose from. What model Akai do you have? Let us know. @@guitarschoolliveit’s an Akai MPK Mini, and it has a button to turn the drum pads in to buttons and it has two banks. So can I program the FCB1010 the same way I programmed my akai? Without going thru the other app? I don’t want to change presets or anything, just turn on and off pedals and have a Whammy and a Wah? @@subnormal2953 Programming the Fcb 1010 is not as simple as programming the Akai mini. Programming the Fcb 1010 can be done directly through the controller, however it is a long and tedious process. Hello @gignik, thanks for your question. This is a common problem with Amplitube and unfortunately there is only 1 way to work around this. First let us explain why this happens. Let’s say you have pedal 1 for delay and pedal 2 for reverb. When you step on pedal 1, CNT1 tells the software to turn on When you step a 2nd time CNT2 tells it to turn off In Amplitube if you turn pedal 1 on and change focus to another pedal, in our case pedal 2, when you return to pedal 1 Amplitube resets. When you step on pedal 1, CNT1 instructs it to turn on, however it’s already on so you must step a 2nd time to activate CNT2 to turn it off. The only workaround for this is to setup user presets with the effects turned on or off as you desire and use PC messages to change presets. I know it is not as satisfying as directly toggling the effects but unfortunately it is the only way to do this in Amplitube. If you have the midi cables connected properly the sysex will be transmitted from the editor to the controller. If you’re having trouble with saving your presets it must be noted that if you’re using a USB to Midi cable the only one known to work consistently is the Roland UM-ONE MK2. Thanks for your reply. I am using PreSonus AudioBox iTwo MIDI (In as the enabled device and the Thru output device); I am also using 5 pin Midi cables on input and out puts for both the foot controller and my interface, my question is would this be compatible?

If you’re using a USB to midi cable the only cable that works is the Roland UM-ONE mk2 USB MIDI Interface: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UMOneMk2--roland-um-one-mk2-usb-midi-interface Other cables can’t send the long sysex data required by the FCB1010. If the above solution doesn’t apply to you then another common reason is the midi cable is connected incorrectly. To make things easier disconnect the midi Out form the FCB1010 when transferring data. Then you’ll have Midi Out from your interface to Midi IN of the FCB1010. Reconnect the Midi out after the data has been transferred and disconnect Midi In to avoid a data loop (you’ll know if you have a data loop by a flashing red LED or the number 88 on the FCB1010 screen) Let us know your results and feel free to reach out to us again if you need further assistance. I did download the new editor but I am waiting for the Midi USB cable to come . I read the manual and seen I needed to get that. I have been using a MAudio interface for decades now. I didnt know about the cables. I am gonna try again with the progam you did in the video. I noticed in the Manual it said UNo 1.0.3 or newer mine is a UNo 1.0.2 chip. I hope i dont need to upgrade the chip. I got it from Ossandust back in 2011. I will let you know how it goes. Is there any website or Facebook I can follow that you do. I am really impressed that you was able to that stuff with FCB1010 and Amplitube. I am working on getting the ground control Voodoo lab pedal to work as well. I can turn pedals on and off and change channels but the changing channels doesn't work as well. But I still am learning. I spendt so much money on this stuff I am not gonna buy anyomre til i learn how to use what I got. Cheers :D

@@guitarschoollive I was able to cancel my cord because it was a cheap one. But i have some questions. I was using a MAudio Mtrack interface to my computer. The MIDI cable I was going to order would only connect to the computer. Am I still able to connect a interface to connect to my computer at the smae time with the interface ? Or would I connect the FCB 1010 to the interface MIDI inputs? That is what I was doing. I didn't have any success with the FCB1010. But with the Ground Control I set it up on the Pod Farm setting and I was able to turn the pedals on and off. But saving the presets channels didn't work very good. The Amplitube kept make me overwrite the file and and wouldn't change very smoothy and sometimes it didn't save it properly. I tried reading that manual and I am not very good at programing it. I was able to get the Elven rack to work with it perfect. I wished there was more interest in people using it. But i understand the equipment is very old as I am lol. Seeing you do that video gave me hope after 12 years. I wished I wouldn't have lost the original FCB Chip. but it's gone. I could have a really cool set up with the FCB and ground control and I also have a Roland Gr 33 Midi as well. But i will cross one bridge at a time. Thank you for taking the time to help me :D

@@guitarschoollive thank you! I got on the Facebook group. I saw the recommendation for the Roland um no USB to midi. I ordered one. I was using an old m audio midisport. USB to midi. Then I started using the midi ports in my quantum 2626. A little better luck but still not great. I opened up neural Soldano. I was able to manually do a couple PC changes. But not everything else. The auto learn did not work

Hello @kellypeterson2625, I apologize for not recognizing that your Midi Sport is a USB to midi cable. The FCB 1010 transmits large data packets that most USB to midi cables cannot send. I am glad you are purchasing the Roland cable. If you’re able to send PC messages to your Neural Plugin but not CC then the usual culprit is in the programming. Make sure PC and Note messages are disabled on the pedals you wish to send CC (CNT) messages. Let me know your results. Guitar School Live

Making some progress. I was able to get it to work in amplitube stand alone and neural DSP standalone. This is with the pro co midi cables going into the midi in on a PreSonus quantum 2626. I didn't think the volume pedal worked very well in amplitube. Seemed like it was either on or off with little control. thank you for all you do.

PC (Program Change) messages start at 0 (zero) and go to 127 unlike CC (Control Change) messages that start at 1 and go to 128. If you want to go to preset 1 you must enter 0.; for 2 enter 1, and so on. You will always enter 1 less than the preset you want to go to. @@guitarschoollive in the editor, 0:1 is 3 (for PC1) but when I hit pedal 1 it doesn't go to preset 3, it goes to preset 1. pedal 2 goes to preset 2 and not 8 like in the editor

If you want to program all of the pedals to control effects simply select 0 through 10 in the editor, disable pc1, then set all of the pedals to cnt1 and cnt 2. Solved too! In case anybody wants to know how I did it in FL, set your ports 1:1 in midi settings, then on an input track w Amplitube, click the gear icon on the window to get to the VST wrapper settings and set the input port to 1, now it should be able to learn the fcb in FL

If you're using a USB to midi cable the only one known to transmit the large data packets required by the FCB1010 is the Roland UM-One MKII. The cheaper ones found on Amazon and Ebay don’t work. If you’re not using a USB to midi cable then next thing would be your controller has an aftermarket chip (Uno, EurekaProm). This video is for the stock FCB1010. Reading your question made us chuckle a little because our original video had the presets change in order from 1-5 and some subscribers felt it didn’t demonstrate the ability to jump around in the presets. So we amended the video to what you see now. In the PC column of the editor you can place whatever preset number you wish. As for only MAC users being able to use the FCB1010, MAC users have the FCB/UNO CONTROL CENTER editor and the FCBFF. Both of these are paid apps and very easy to use. IMHO, MAC users are accustomed to paying for apps while Windows users are not. The free editors are not as intuitive as the paid editors, hence the reason for our video. I hope this helps. Yeah, the presets numbering looked unnecessarily complicated, but thank you for taking the time to answer my question, because it also implicitly answers another, which was about inverting the rows of pedals for presets/individual rig pedals. It's better to put the rig's pedals on the 1st row for easy foot access and it's possible, because the switches 1 through 10 are the same. I blame Behringer for omitting to provide softwares with the FCB1010 unit. The unit is amazing, but...A Voodoo art to program.
