How to program your Line6 Helix to control an EVH 5150 amp series via MIDI.
This can be applied to any controller with MIDI implementation, using MIDI Program Change, which is the supported implementation on the EVH 5150 amp series.

The helix is 5 pin and the evh is 7, what are you using to hook this up?

MIDI uses 5 pins only, the 7 pins is for their foot switch

Hi: interesting question. I would say, since you have values between 0-127 (MIDI) to use other numbers since you have plenty.

Were you using a midi cable? Having some confusion if i should use 4cm or midi cable for snapshots and amp channel switching on my helix lt to my evh5153stealth 50.

Yes, a MIDI cable is required to do this method. I have a 25 feet long cable and working fine since always.

@@felipousismix you’re only using 1 midi cable? So 1 cable to input of helix then 1 midi cable into the midi of the evh?

@@12Jsilva Helix > MIDI Out > EVH > MIDI In, so just 1 MIDI cable. I also use the 4CM for pre/post preamp as well.

@@felipousismix thank you! I actually thought i could do pre/post fx and also do the amp channel switching with just 1 midi cable. Good thing i bought 2 extra cables for the 4cm :)

I have the EVH III 100 watt I have all the EVH pedals and the Helix I guess it’s impossible to use the Helix with my amp 😢

Hi: yes you can, but not with MIDI, you can use the EXT AMP TRS to change between the channels
