Hi Pete. Don’t worry the nut isn’t out of the electronics in the phone. The nut belongs on the end of the screw that holds the case in place. The idea behind it used to be that you undid it until the screw sprang out and no further. It can always stay on the case then 👍🏻 also, never over-tighten as this can cause it to break and crack. Great job with the actual conversion tho pal 👍🏻. All the best 😊
HI Pete. The Nut is from the back of the case retaining screw. To place back you have to hold in place with say a flat screw driver blade poke up from the base of the phone while screwing the the back case screw. The case screw was undone too far.
Hey mate thanks for the video.. We have the old telephone too.. More so just for show as we don't use the land line, We all use mobiles, Buy I come across your video.. But we would like it to ring still. We have the adaptor connected all ready as was working before,. As it was my aunty phone. She was we virgin. And I'm with BT, the connection fits into The white block ADSL filter, but we don't get any ring tone. I know the phone isn't faulty as they had it working.. Was just wondering on some advice. Thanks again for the vid. Very professional easy to follow.. And explained very well.. Thanks
Hi , Thanks for the feedback. 🙂 . Its unfortunate, but I've been made aware BT areas and now my area ( Hull , which was never BT) is going to be fibre-only soon, with all the copper wires taken out, and I suppose all the old big exchange buildings too! (some nice properties to sell!) it will all be on the fibre optic broadband, and I dont think they"ll work on that system 😪. Still great as diplay piece, but conversion will be a bit pointless!!
Fantastic Video Sir Since I'm A Late 80s Born Man It Helped Me Alot In Understanding Analogue Technology & Converting My Old Dialer Phone For Accepting VOIP Fiber Modem Of Jio, Lots Of Love From India👍
@@TheMonkeyThrifter im not sure, i think if you have a converter box it might but i havent had anything like that in my area yet so, couldnt say really.
I ordered one of these upgraded phones from the back of a magazine when I moved into my first house. It was vintage bakelite 312 and worked great, but eventually the tone dialling got disabled on our line so I couldn't use the dial any more. Since it has a BT connector I'm wondering if it'll be usable on the VOIP when that comes online.
Hi, Unfortunately I don't think it will work. Some of the old exchanges still accept the pulsed dial tone, until updated, but the digital voice over Internet isn't set up for that. Most tone dial phones will work ( I think ) when plugged into the fibre hub, but may not have the same functionality they did on copper lines exchanges. 😖. I'm personally giving up my landline when I shortly upgrade my fibre for the first ever time ( only just available in my area) So..sadly won't be converting any more phones for the time being. I do believe there are convertor boxes in the USA but dont see any available here currently.
