How to convert Allett mower cartridges from Kensington to Stirling

This video shows how easy it is to convert a cartridge from either the Allett Liberty 43 or Kensington 43 or 51 to the new Stirling 43 or 51 Mower. These lines of reel mowers have Quick-Change cartridges, called Ultra-Change in the new Stirling, that provide different functionality for a single mower, which increases its usefulness greatly. The Stirling has been improved in the speed of cartridge change and has a different gear where it connects into the mower. Allett is selling a conversion kit so you can keep your old cartridges for use with the new Stirlings.

Thank youuuu!! I was looking for someone who shows how to do this!! My case is actually the other way around (remove UC pully from scarifier, Liberty rabge's pully from verticut, then install UC pully onto verticut). Very helpful. Thank you!

Do you know if once your replace the plastic gear with the metal one, will it fit back into a kensington ?

You would need to switch it back to the plastic gear to use it on a Kensington. The gears are not the same.

Hi Dennis, the verticutter is next on my list as the most expensive cartridge in the QC range timing is everything. The gears on your Sterling 51 should be standard on the whole Liberty line as well at the price point of these cartridges or offer the same gear as a replacement part since it it obvious that a metal gear is far superior to the stock plastic one.

It’s definitely a different part so the Quick change cartridge would not work as-is in the Stirling. As I said in the video, I understand the reasoning behind the “sacrificial” nature of the plastic gear, but I’ve seen a lot of them that appear to break a bit easier. So yeah, the metal is definitely superior.

Oh, and yeah the verticut yet is great. I haven’t used it as much as I should. Now that it’s easier to switch out, I think I’ll be using it a lot more.

@@DennisAroundtheHouse Hi Dennis, A straight replacement for the stock plastic one on the Liberty QC should not be a big deal for Allett engineer's to make. We are just asking for a durable one like yours to replace these inferior plastic ones which I believe is below Allett standards.

@@DennisAroundtheHouse We are talking about a company who think the Liberty series which has not seen any design changes of any kind in 6 years of production will need to improve quality. Time appears to stand still at Allett.
