Excellent video. Question: I'd like to use an LED bulb with a G24q base. After I bypass the ballast, can I put the two hot wires (red) from the G24 plug in the same wire nut as the house hot (black) wire from the Romex? And put the two neutral wires (blue) in the same wire nut with the common (white) wire from the Romex? Thanks!
That all depend if the new led lights are made to work with the ballast or they have to be re wired to bypass it. I’ve never used them so not familiar on how to do this. If the new bulbs are made to bypass the ballast then it should have instructions on how to wire them up. Most likely you would connect them the way you said. Let me know how it goes. I’m interested in finding out how these bulbs work. Most of the time I replace this style socket because the lights are hard to remove because the bulbs always break. Maybe the led bulbs are more durable that the glass tubes.
There is a way to do that. You would have to splice in a screw in bulb socket. It’s better just to use a new can that already has the screw in socket and housing so there is no need to splice wires. Let me know if you come up with something better.
