You lost me at "it looks too scavenged" when talking about 40K Orks. They literally build their technology out of random scraps and a psychic power in the form of crowd mentality.
They would look great as a Kill Team! I just find somewhat amusing that you tried to avoid the ork derpyness during the process, I mean, the derpyness is what makes me like them, lol
I have a weird feeling that Imperial Guard will get a model refresh, but after that I think Orks will get a refresh. Also...is anything really "Too Big" for an Ork?
Orks really don't need a full range refresh, or even as big of a release as Necrons got, since they've been getting new models a bit more consistently over the years than a lot of Xenos. It's mostly just their infantry that needs updating, since the majority of it is very old now. Some of the oldest vehicles also need updating, like the wartrukk and Deffkopta, and to a lesser extent the Battlewagon.
Personally like the chainmail and plate look, but that’s me. I recommend using the ‘ard boyz and nobz kits though, as a much simpler alternative. I don’t use green stuff or the likes, just everything from the sprue, and the sprues themselves on occasion. They can make for some cool conversions, with the right approach, and only requires some cuts of the plastic, patience, and maybe extra bits. You also can get a custom WAAAGH Nob, by using the banners and some bits from other kits. My suggestion aside though, these look propah snazzy. Nice and tall gitz, those are, and fit 40k’s specific choice of aesthetic nicely.
I'm considering moving back in time and 3rd Edition Warhammer Fantasy Battles. They had "Chaos Goblins" back then, and I got the idea to make "Chaos Orcs" along the same vein. This vid gave me some ideas and inspiration. :)
@@kitbosh I have been putting together a Death Guard army and have been casting a baleful gaze back and forth between the leftover bits and a pile of old Ork Boyz from my teenage years
Im so glad i discovered this channel. I dont often comment, but i just want to say ive been going through your videos liking all of them. Your skill, creativity, and willing to take artistic risks is insanely impressive.
It would be funny to have a warboss dressed like an imperial noble and is a complete snobbish arse who tries to reach his boys "propa kultura". Picture that intelligent Gremlin from Gremlins 2
Great vid I'm doing the classic ambot to meganobz conversion, going about magnetizing all my models in my ork army. This is a great tutorial for alternative models
Thanks. I actually started on that same conversion but ended up getting distracted and cannibalizing it for parts. Still, the ambots are great models for ork conversions.
I see the cuts you may have or have not obtaind via the filming of this video, you are a real inspiration to do your absolute best when it comes down to crafting the boyz..... and every single boy
glad you did them my man. people use the Orruks often for Orks, but yours looks unique. I been wanting to see what you would do with the set. I think the last one is carrying a mace that is shaped like a stick grenade
Thanks! Most of the Orruk to Ork conversions I've seen leave a little bit too much of the fantasy aesthetic in place, and I wanted to try and hide it a little more.
I personally would love to see some Nid/Ork mashups. The idea being some weird boyz got carried away grafting tissue on wounded orks until they made hybrids. I was thinking the waaaaarrrrggghh field would be fighting the hivemind for control which could open up more fun rules ideas. Since GW doesn't seem to want to do anything with Orks and Nids
This is a great video, especially with the Beast Snaggas coming out soon(ish), but I die a little inside every time you say something looks too scavenged or that a melee weapon is too big.
I have been working on a Kill Team using the Orcs from Blood Bowl. They can be pretty static, but a couple of them can really add flavor. Love the conversions!
The Orruk with that big choppa will make a nice mad combi-weapon. Rig up a trigger system on the lower handle and strap a flamer and shoota to the sides of the blade and it will look great. I'm going for an Ork army that is a small tribe that was shot out of the Warp and landed on a moon with a prison factory complex run by the mechanicus which they raided and now look like savage cons in looted prison jump suits and materials from the prison and call their stabbas shivvas. Their warboss has a weirdboy who is made from a converted shaman who thinks he talks to the Ork gods by rattling skulls dipped in purple paint and with scrap shoved in them so the rest of the Orks have taken to painting their faces purple and call themselves the "purple skullz" Yes, I made purple orks and completely forgot about the meme when I did. Their greatest moment was during a game, my opponent tried to charge one of his Tau 8 at a squad of Nobz armed with killsaws...and they slaughtered the battle suit. Though my plan of using the trukk as a mobile bomb, parking it next to a fire warrior squad didn't work as planned. The one time a trukk doesn't blow up! I'll definitely venturing out this conversion as I have wanted to use the Orruks for a while and some of the savage orruks too.
Really nice man. That's a conversion i would do myself, and i could pull off, as you don't have to be as good to convert orks as you do marines, your marine conversions, some of them may be too advanced for me to pull of neat enough.
Has anyone try converting 40K ork boyz into AOS Savage Orruk or Ironjaw ‘Ardboyz. I been thinking about converting my small army of 20 ork boyz and a Warboss from Assault on Black Reach into AOS Orruks but don't know if Orruk weapons fit or are they to big ?? As for the Warboss don't know as for what he would fit he's probably to small for an Megaboss maybe a Warchanter, Weirdnob Shaman or something else ??
Gotta say I love the posing of the 40k orkz. Idk what it is but it kinda reminds me of gorillas. Still sick conversion even if I prefer the normal nobz.
@@kitbosh ya I just really love the scrappy mad max vibe to em. These are sick and look like actual BEASTS but they don’t really scratch my 40k ork inch ya know?
@@trek2k409 Sure. One of the cool things about 40k is the space there is for different interpretations and how that can be converted in the models themselves.
Dude, absolutely love your conversions! I do pose a challenge though; converting an AoS Troggoth into an Ork unit (big mek, warboss, whatever). It's something I'm currently trying myself, and was inspired by an amazing artist on Instagram, grotskulls_workshop, though they converted them to Bullgryns.
Have you tried something like this with the necramunda ogryn gang kit? Im thinking about doing some meganobz with that box, but now with this vid reconsidering it 😂
Please learn the real ork names. You kept referring to nob arms as boy arms and choppaz and big choppaz as chainaxes. Apart from that I absolutely love this brilliant stuff!
I was think of doing the exact same thing but making them Mega Nobs.. I personally like the armor and im planning on building out my army into nerf swords and nerf guns as part of the look. So over sized but foam looking is the look lol 😆
I had thought about using Orruks for Orks, but then I got the saga of the wolf box and built the Nobs, Meganobs, a box of Flash Gits, and while they are cool they definitely suffer from size issues next to my warboss who is significantly enlarged. After seeing this I will definitely need to use Orruks for the Nobs and use the normal ork Nobs for ones who lead the standard boys mobs.
That's the point! Orks are Scavengers and there designs are supposed to be Mad Max Inspired! Also Orks will prefer Bigger weapons even it will be impractical because that's in their nature. Pretty much don't know what are W40k Orks look like.
They look too armored for nobz and not mech enough for meganobz. And have to agree with other posters wtf u mean looks too scavenged that literally what orks are.
It's for people who want the aesthetic for the Orks rather than going for cost efficiency. There are different ways to go cost efficient and also look good, but 40K Orks are so cheap that it doesn't work out that way.
Nice kitbash Definitely setting me in the direction I was thinking of going for my orks. But uh... The knife was too small? For a nob XD. Your models still tho. And it looked good.
