This tutorial is a couple of years old. In the online world, this happens haha. My point is this: My screen does not match the screen of the author. As such, this tutorial did not exactly match my software version. I was able to "convert" my project from portrait to landscape after hunting around quite a bit; thank you for that. This video was the top video in my search. I'm not a video editor, but I can follow instructions well. If this tutorial had matched my software, I would have been able to complete this task in under a minute. Since I had to hunt around a bit, it took me about 10 minutes. This is not a complaint, but rather an explanation of the current situation and perhaps a suggestion for up-to-date tutorials. Thanks for all you do.
This didn't work for me either (Filmora 11). After A LOT of digging around I realized you have to reframe the footage by clicking "Auto Reframe" on the startup screen, before adding it into and editing a project. I got it done, but this was seriously NOT intuitive, unlike many editors where you just click something simple like "remove black bars"!
Great video, I love it. I always wanted to know why and how this happens with those black bars on the side. I love using Filmora as a video editing tool. I'm now excited to try what this video teaches. It has been years since I wanted to know about this and just in the few short minutes here you blow my mind. Thanks guys!
Filmora Video Editor I already have a lot of LUT. But not enough. Then you can not add a new filtre package? Think about that, please. Thank you. I love Filmora.
Hi, after clicking crop & zoom, I don't have two windows appear (the cropping window and the preview window)? Also, after I crop, the black bars don't disappear. I just updated my app to the latest version. Thx.
Hi Matt I'm trying to follow your method right now in my computer but there's something wrong with mine. It's only the cut portion from up and down being covered by blur effects and not the both sides. What's the problem of my Filmora9? Are you using diff.version? Pls.help me, I'm getting frustrated. Plsss. Thanks
Thank you for this!!!! I shot my very first vlog this week and I didn’t realize all my clips were in portrait mode until the last day🤦🏽♀️ can’t wait to use these tips while editing💕
I am a newbie to this whole filming thing so to start out I am just using my phone in landscape to record videos. I didn't realise by zooming out though I got the black bars. I did crop like you mentioned but I think I prefer to record some parts again.
Hi, do have a tutorial for uploading a vertical video on youtube? I also use this Filmora and I want to upload 720 x 1280 vertical video without black screen on side
Hi guys there congrats for the good job and the perfect program and RU-vid channel... how can I turn an upside down video from action cam I have recorded upside down.. how can I turn it into normal o the side I want? Thanks
So in my filmora, I do not have the option to select ratio of 9:16 or custom... is that because I’m using the free version? I only have option for 4:3 or 16:9 and nothing else....trying to edit videos for IGTV
I have ifone6s and i have problem with my videos now with filmora 9 before in version 8 i just rotated my video but in filmora 9 it does not work and there are bars still ?
HI Matt, Thanks for your video. I completely agree and currently have some video's to re-format. I downloaded the free Filmora app however I can crop and zoom but I cannot split. So currently I have cropped the video but it is still in portrait. Can you please advice what to do? Thanks!!
Hi Filmora. How to speed both the video in the middle and background when you use blurry background. I end up having only the backgroung faster but not the middle !
Is there a way to shift the point of focus based on the time in the video? The video focal point in the video I'm trying to crop shifts throughout the video...
Hi, I'm only looking to convert old videos on my pc from the old "portait" format to 16x9, I'm looking for something really simple as I'm very "novice" with pcs, thank for ur help! 😉
How can i do landscape video having black on both sides ? I want to remove black part so it plays better on mobile. Sorry, but I'm asking opposite here if it works.
I accidentally recorded some out door GoPro videos with my iso at 3000 everything was this ugly blue tint. Do you have an option for correcting the iso with out all the guess work.
@@user-sl1ry6op7m No. How do you fix it if the phone unintentionally filmed portrait when I meant to film landscape. The phone automatically can rotate to get rid of black bars, so how do I do this without cropping and thus reducing resolution?
The automatic updater sometimes doesn't push updates especially if you are using an older version. You can download the new version updates here: Mac: download.wondershare.com/mac-video-editor_full718.dmg PC: download.wondershare.com/filmora_full846.exe
Filmora should be able to make this much easier. They offer the option at the beginning when you import. New users like myself have no idea what it's actually asking.. I imported in portrait mode and spent HOURS on something I can't even use. Truly obnoxious. Just paid for it and never want to even look at it again.
I don't get it, I can get the pic to fill the screen, but the bars on the side are still there, they are just gray and you can see the rest of the picture coming through. It's weird. How do I get just the picture and not the bars?
ok 2 things that bugged me about this. 1 you never said anything about this ridiculous watermark on the free version, which is kind of an important thing and two, this new version is not showing the black bars anymore and looks totally different then yours. I am testing my video to see if after export it comes out like I want but if not....I am deleting this program. Ughhh so frustrating....can you help or I am going to deleted this thing.
Awesome tutorial! Can we please have in the next update a way to move the preview screen to the middle - or at least not flush to the right side? When editing in 16:9, you have to move the whole editor to see the right side of the video. Uncool.
Hi, those filters wont work on my filmora. And some of the features wont show. like the crop and zoom feature. do you know why? i dont have the free version.
This isn't working correctly in 9.3.6.2 version. I click on the blur filter, see it added as a new track, but nothing happens in the preview, and when rendered, the black bars are there instead of the blurred background.
@@FilmoraWondershare OK, it took a little while to figure out why I couldn't get the blur bars, but it looks like it works correctly IF you choose the right settings when you create a new project with a verticle video. It's not mentioned in this tutorial, but when you import a vertical video, Filmora9 asks if you want to set the project aspect ratio to that of the vertical video or set keep it at what the project (9:16 vs 16:9) was set. If you choose to keep the original aspect ratio of the vertical video, the blur bars won't show up as there is no room for them. Would been nice to get this heads up, but it is working correctly once I set the aspect ratio correctly to wide (16:9).
Hey quick question.. Why is the picture (video) soooo bad in the preview screen???? Is it me? Sucks. Oh, and thank you for these tutorials. Awesome. Product is great too..
