Learn how to easily cook and make isomalt sugar at home. Cooking the isomalt crystals so that they’re tempered is super important to making your own pre-cooked isomalt and all of the sugar decorations that make isomalt amazing. Pouring into molds (casting), pulling, and blowing can all be achieved after cooking the granules!
I‘ll share with you my tips to making it super clear!
Once it has been cooked you can pour it into smaller silicone molds and use your very own pre-cooked pieces whenever you want by microwaving them in the microwave in a heat safe silicon dish at 30 seconds intervals. Simply store it in an air tight container and pull out and use and reheat as many times as you want!
What I used today was Satin Ice isomalt crystals which I bought on Amazon: amzn.to/3KJ1wDS

This is so helpful - Thank-you 🙏🏻 If you want to colour the isomalt, at what stage do you add colour? And can you use gel colours?

You’re welcome! After the isomalt is cooked, I usually put it in a silicone cup and add the coloring, mix it, and then pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to bring it back to a boil. Let it rest a minute if you’re pouring so you don’t pour bubbles into your design. Air brush colors are best but I also use gel. It can be a bit more sticky if you use gel.

Could you pop the bubbles after the first pour with a needle just after you pour it?

You can buy precooked isomalt from somewhere like Simicakes.com and she has great precooked isomalt that’s really clear. All you have to do is microwave it.
