Cake decorating, recipes, and sugar art tutorials!! Specializing in buttercream! Hi! I'm Becky and I'm a stay at home mom of four rambunctious kiddos who began her career in cake decorating over three years ago. I've been cake decorating since I was a little girl but since having my own kids have taken it to the next level of cake art. I began "Icing On Top - Becky's Cakes" and started selling cakes from my home. From there I began my RU-vid channel to share with you all my cake decorating tips and tricks that I wish I had known starting out. I'm also the author of "Icing On Top - Buttercream Exclusive Cake Decorating" book available on Amazon. I'm a firm believer that you don't have to have been decorating your whole life to become great at it. You simply have to have the passion, drive, and dedication to learn and grow!
Check out my Amazon store front for all the cake decorating supplies that I use. *earns commissions www.amazon.com/shop/icingontop-beckyscakes

Oh, thank you for taking the time ro reply! Im visually impaired & in a panic about my mums birthday cake. I dont want to fork out for frost. F but want to use the butter ganache. Most loose bottom cake tins have an edge similar to the frostf plastic thing. Trial & error i suppose. Thanks!@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes
Wait a minutes! This is brilliant. I’m making a birthday cake for a friend and I am definitely trying this do you have instagram if so I’m tagging you the party is next Saturday! You are an icon!
It’s 3 years after you posted this and I’ve never seen anything like this till now, my little brothers bday party theme is ( Avatar: The Last Airbender ) it’s in December but I’ll start practicing😅, thank you for this tutorial 👍✨
Nope. For this recipe that is the perfect consistency for a stable filling that won’t drip between layers and ruin a decorated cake and it’s delicious. But everyone has their own preferences.
Well, I have to say some algorithm must’ve put your video on my Facebook page today because I had just looked at some kit that cost about $50 to do the same thing you did for next to nothing. Thank you.
@@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes oh I see. I appreciate your response. And with all respect (& i truly mean that) for me and possibly others it can be helpful to see that somewhere even in the notes or when you add it in the video. I know when I try a recipe atleaast the first time I usually don't add anything, even a little water. Just my thoughts and hope you keep sharing things like this. I make macarons a lot too and often use this kind of thing in the centers of them. ♥
Oh I totally get what you’re saying. This is just the “short” more like the teaser to my full length video tutorial where I explain the steps and in the full length tutorial I talk about the water that I add to the cornstarch and the reason for it. All of my shorts are like I teaser to my full length videos. I try and remember to add that in the description of the shorts so my apologies if I missed adding that to the description. I’ll go back and edit it to make sure I add it. Thanks for watching! Here’s the full length version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5T1F89TD_gs.htmlsi=YfLJi2fWxwy8Z6Vs
@@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes oh noo , no worries hun !! That's why I asked and then went and looked at the longer video info. I just didn't want ya to think I was being rude or nit picking about it. Imo that's a big part of why I don't like texting people b/c you can't hear a tone of voice. Same with comments on videos sometimes
Yess thank you! I got a Frost Form and it isn’t as easy as it seems. I had seen people putting their buttercream on a cake collar and then smoothing it around but this hack is genius!
Love the tutorial. You may want to put your icing bag into a glass, fold the bag over the edge of the glass, to fill your bag with icing. Makes it a lot easier.
