Try some Goya ham flavor packets to season vegetables.it is awesome in green beans. I ordered mine from Amazon and it comes in individual packets. I even add one to my pork chop gravy and sausage gravy. I know you’ll like it. I was introduced to it when I was doing Weight Watchers because it doesn’t add calories, only flavor.
I have made macaroni salad for 150 people. I always cut tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and onions by hand and very small. I do it all by hand and drain so it's not watery. It takes me many hours to do it, but people love it. I have done this several times for a community of low income elderly. I also have made and provided all the cakes for their dinners. It is so self rewarding to do for elderly and lower income. I think this is something more people should look into doing. I don't know any of the people residing where I take this food, but it comes from my heart to want to do, and it reminds me of how blessed I am, and i like to share my blessings.
Margaret: That is fantastic, God bless you! When you make the salad do you use mayo or salad dressing? Also, what seasonings do you use? Again, it is a wonderful thing you are doing and so needed. Prayers for you!
@@r.peebles3290 I use mayonaise and my favorite is Hellmann's. I really don't use any seasoning other than salt, and little pepper. I like to use a variety of colored peppers. Something else I do that most people never heard of is I like to add little cubes of ham and crumbles of cheese. This just kind of gives it's a little extra. And I have to say, I use lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and peppers. I want my salad to be colorful and plentiful. I love to cook and create.
I agree! Cooking for a crowd does not have to be overwhelming. Just takes some planning. Church is one of the best places to serve a fellowship meal. I know your church must be so grateful for all that you do. ❤️❤️
Awwww this reminds me of the church dinners that I grew up with in the late 60’s , 70’s and early 80’s. I will never forget the smell of coffee and homemade food that greeted you when you opened the door. Such good memories.
I just joined your community I think you’re cooking from the south is great look forward to seeing more of your videos I think you’re doing a great job and by the way on your weight loss program I think you’re doing an outstanding job keep up the good work you’ll get there you’ll get to your goal I know you will. And most of all Jesus loves you and he will help you along the way.
This is a great way to multitask, and You are being REAL!!! Such a great feeling when one cooks for others! “Happiness is being in the service of others “ P.S.- Ms Leslie, you are truly shrinking! Congrats 🎊! Love you! 💖💖💖
Bless you pastor and Leslie oh I miss church dinners looks yummy keep praying for me home now need healing for my leg and foot from surgery All my life he's been faithful all my life he's been so so good I will sing of the goodness of God
I wanted to try that diet plan. I checked into it but to start was 400.00$ I couldn’t afford that at all. I’m so happy for your weight loss Journey. God bless you sweet lady.
At work and at church, I have always been known for my cooking, and though all these years, no one ever knew I was/am a convenience cook. Do you think I'm going to tell them.....NOPE not at this stage of my life. A can, package of a food item is just a foundation and up to you to build on it. Sometimes after Christmas, can get a roaster oven on mark down and I have 3 different sizes, so ready to prepare any amount needed. Love your fellowship activities. Thanks for sharing.
What fun it is to gather with all of your church lady friends and cook at the church fellowship hall. Before Covid we met every Tuesday morning and prepared meals for our sick and shut in members. We also included elderly members who no longer could get out. After we packaged the food we divided into groups and started delivering. The people looked forward to the visit much more than they did the food. This is a ministry that really blesses you.
Everytime my immediate family got together we always had over 50 people ( 8 kids, spouses, children, friends, etc) My mother provided the meat, beverages and odds n ends. Everyone brought a dish to pass or came to my parents house and fixed their contribution. Potluck type meals are fantastic, you get a variety of dishes, the pressure is taken off everyone and you get to socialize more. Our church does the same type thing monthly, it's always a huge success.
I just love your channel! I made your chicken and rice soup for my family. My husband loved it! He said it reminded him of a very special lady's soup that we know. That was the best compliment I could've ever gotten from him!! She and her husband had a famous bakery in our little town for years. Everyone in Arkansas knew about it. And they received countless accolades in our state. Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
This old lady has a recollection of a BIG pot you shopped for intended for an outside gathering but I can't remember if it was fried or liquid based but everyone ate real good! Beautiful you!!!
Oh Leslie I know what you are talkin about I have been a pastors wife for 40 years I have cooked cakes pies lots of 4 pound meatloaf huge salads lots and lots of big amounts of food for church suppers had a great time but my back will not let me do it anymore but I know the joy!!🤪🙋🏼♀️😘
What a blessing you are to your church members. I love cooking for a crowd however I have to do shortcut methods now. Enjoy your day and beautiful autumn. 🍁🙏
It all looked good and it seems like everyone was enjoying it !! That’s what makes you feel good is when people enjoy your cooking ! I was a cook then supervisor at our County Jail for 23 years , and it is so rewarding when someone says “ Hey our meal was great , or can we have that again soon “!! It really makes you feel good !
@Bridget Greene . . . I was an officer at a county jail before retiring. Some of the best meals I've ever eaten were at work. The cooks would also bake us special treats and send them out to our work areas. The cinnamon rolls were the best! Thank you for posting this comment. I'm sure the people who enjoyed your meals are forever grateful. 😊
Just keep ice in your ice tea and it'll work just the same as adding water plain water would just water it down too much do you happen to have a cookbook for anyone's request I did not see it in your web page I'm like you our church has a community meal every third Sunday of each month this cookbook would help out a lot with different ideas if you can give it in your heart to another community meal that would be awesome
Leslie this is awesome you are definitely a great ministers wife to do all of this! I use can potatoes all the time they are great in the crock pot too ranch potatoes? Yum you can really tell your weight loss in your face!
I love when we have dinners at our church.. We always do pot luck dinners and everyone brings what they want.. Sometimes we have like themed dinners also.. like soup night, taco salad night etc... We always have so much food and a great time...
When you came back to the camera out of breath after opening all those cans, I felt that. 😂 let's make an industrial sized can opener, they said. It'll be fun, they said.
You guys are fortunate to be able to be able to gather in this manner ...considering Covid! Up here in Canada most everything is , you need a vaccine pass port .
I have cook many large church dinners and church weddings and your right planning and helpers make it a success. when is comes for deserts many lady's donated that part like cakes brownies and pies.
For some reason you have not popped up on my feed in forever. I thought that you might be taking a break due to Covid. But...maybe it has something to do with algorithms.
