Marco Pierre White is a 3-Michelin star chef...Keith Floyd was a notoriously bad businessman....I think all his restaurants/pubs when into receivership.

He was a showman in front of the camera, charismatic and rumbustious, however, behind it the camera, he was not a likable person to work with at all, could not keep the staff. Keith was a regular face to see in Dartmouth in the 80's, he regularly did business with the local fruit and veg shop of which the owner used to dread the days he'd turn up. He'd never pay his bills on time and, if I remember correctly, left a huge amount of debt behind him after his death.

Floyd really was the OG, so to speak. Cooks & chefs on TV predated him of course. Julia Child and Graham Kerr come to mind. With all due respect to them, and to other contemporaries, it was Floyd who turned a cooking lesson into a conversation, naturally engaging and still elegant.
