If you soak the pasta first in cold water for 1-2 hours, depending on the type of the pasta; you can boil them for 2-3 minutes just like freshly made pasta. Less money to spend on energy. You can even microwave them
I've been cooking pasta this way for years. I learned about how the heat cooks the pasta and that the boiling actually cooks off the nutrients in the pasta. Personally, I prefer the pasta's taste when not boiled.
I am going to do this from now on! Fantastic tip for the world in this energy crisis. I'll bet it will work with compotes as well. I agree leaving for an extra 30 secs before the gas is turned off is possibly a good idea. I will need to ensure my lid has no holes to release steam though...
@@LocalAromas I’ve seen @Saucestache soak pasta for 2 hrs in cold water, then drain and rinse it really well before mixing in a loose hot pasta sauce, after a couple mins he sauce thickens and the noodles are amazing. I bet they do it similarly in Asia, using broth for ramen
@@LocalAromas I've heard of steaming pasta, but it's not really steaming-you just put pasta into a water bath and cook it in the oven. I really wanted to learn about genuinely steamed pasta, but I guess it doesn't exist. 😭😁
Super helpful. I am so tired and I have no energy to watch a pot on the stove. I’m going to try boiling the water in my kettle, it just feels so much easier.
@@LocalAromas Yes 😄 Not only that, I tried it yesterday for the First time (I saw the tip on RU-vid). It takes longer than an hour and a half. It took a good 2 and a half to soften up. I think my pasta was pretty thick. I also had to simmer it for 5 minutes rather than 60 seconds. So not much of a tip really 😊
Hi gorgeous thankyou for sharing iv learnt something new my son has a pizza shop and sells pasta will tell him too try but it’s very true what you have said even though you can do it the other way Italians very old school still will do the old way 🧐 funny love you baccione to you and beni🥰🥰🎄🙏🙏🌹😊 Sydney Australia
BACI to you!!! We do..that is true! We are sooooo old school! Your son has a pizza shop and pasta! Wow! Has he tried cooking it like that? let us know!! TONS of baci to you! Benny and Vale!
You're mad. Egg noodles only need a 35 min soak in cold or room temp water. The. Drain them and throw into a wok at correct temp. They won't stick then
@@MichaelJoseph-vb5ml I wasn’t talking about egg noodles!!!! I said eggs! You can boil water with the eggs and then turn off the stove, put a lid on and let stand for 7-10 min, depending on your desired yolk firmness.
