I made these tonight in a starfrit 8.5 quart pressure cooker at 25 minutes, and although a few bones fell off, I think I should have done 30 minutes... But in the end, starting the ribs, putting some corn on the cob in a pot plus making baked beans in a pot with bacon and onion plus making baked potatoes in the oven, all at the same time. Dinner was made in one hour an 15 minutes. An In Door bbq! it's still winter here. but that was a very quick meal to make for dinner time, and the family loved it. I used bull's eye hickory sauce for mine =)

There is so much more I would want to do with ribs right now, however, I have to avoid any type of sugars. So these days, I only use salt, pepper and garlic powder. They look delicious! Love your presentation. Thanks for going over buttons, I need that. You did say you were putting fat side down into liquid. That one rib was fattest to begin with. All slabs were different size. I tell by size of bones! Maybe if you don't want extra moist rib, put thicker edge of rib up. Also I would suggest about 1 to 1 1/2 cup max liquid. The liquid is there to hold pressure, little moisture for food. No liquid, no pressure. I bet that was just great. Do you have a bourbon chicken receipe?????

Lol. Spareribs or baby back‘s and St. Louis when you cut the top off then it becomes of St. Louis style ribs when you cut the tops off of that it becomes baby back ribs but it’s all the same meat and you cook it pretty much the same way you just add a little time for a greater volume of meat whether you add more baby back ribs or whether you doing St. Louis or spare ribs. Spareribs as the part with all the gristle on it, that’s what a lot of barbecue places will cut off and chop up and soak in barbecue sauce and sell as rib tips or burnt ends. I like a little bit more texture I like them lose from the bone but not falling apart like pulled pork come out with one rack are usually do about 23 minutes with two racks are usually do about 25 minutes and it’s still incredibly tender from the instant pot but it holds together just a little bit better and keeps a little bit of that meaty bite and texture to it. Any sauce works although I don’t like the honey barbecue sauce on ribs, tends to be a little too much sweet in the flavor profile, But that point it’s just flavor, you can use ketchup or mustard or even mayonnaise or whatever anybody wants but I prefer a barbecue sauce with a little less sugar content on the ribs it’s already very sweet meat especially with all that bone.
@m3rdpwr

Thanks for taking the time to comment. These days when I have ribs, it's either with hot sauce, or sugar free BBQ sauce from G.Hughes. Dropping all that sugar, helped me in dropping 85lbs. Thanks for watching!

@@m3rdpwr awesome good job. I go back-and-forth, generally I try to eat sort of healthy but every now and again I want to get a good piece of meat and just make it as good as possible I just do it less often, But not all healthier options means it’s not going to be good. Some of the best ribs I’ve had were south American style where they cook it really hot and fast and with very little seasoning, quite often just salt and especially when dieting and eating some of these things less often, it’s not as big of an impact to put a little more money into getting good quality meat and that’s pretty much can always be any kind of sauce or ingredients you can get. If you get a great piece of meat throw a little salt and pepper on it and cook it right it’s gonna blow away a cheaper cut of meat with anything on it and be much healthier. But even though it makes her butt skinnier it also makes her wallet skinnier. 😂😂
@m3rdpwr
@m3rdpwr 3 года назад
@@ShaneZettelmier Yup, eating healthy ain't cheap. I now only season my ribs and chicken for that matter, with my own mix. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper and smoked paprika. I make a big batch of it, so everything goes quick.
@ShaneZettelmier
@ShaneZettelmier 3 года назад
@@m3rdpwr That’s awesome and often that’s plenty but it’s hard to be the nice candy glaze rib and it’s fine to eat that stuff just don’t make it a staple of your diet once in a while go out and have a few amazing sugary coded ribs with that’s what you like but the rest of the time don’t do it that way I don’t make those things a staple of your diet, which kind of sucks because I would be perfectly happy not even having a kitchen I can put a sink in the counter out next to a grill and a smoker probably be completely satisfied but that’s not exactly healthy. 😂 Ribs and good meat that you grill are going to be full of fat and in moderation it’s fine but you can’t just whip that stuff down every day even with or without the sugar. Well some people can and I’m pretty sure those people are evil I can only do that because they worship and serve Satan but that’s a whole other conversation. 😂😂 I generally try to stay away from any kind of process sugar when I can but every now and again you’re going to eat cake or something like that I’m trying to make a diet cake out of healthy ingredients honestly just sucks just make a good cake and have a whole lot less of it is what works for me better. Sugar-free cake and all that stuff I just don’t even bother with and generally I do try to stay away from the sugar on the meat stuff but every now and again it’s fine just not too much of it
@ShaneZettelmier
@ShaneZettelmier 3 года назад
@@m3rdpwr another thing I found is there a lot of weird spices from other countries and if you cook an experiment with them a lot of them are totally unique flavor profile and can be very satisfying and break up the monotonous Alfred regimens were healthy prepared food regimens start looking at things like saffron oil and sumac and coriander and turmeric and Asian spices there all kinds of different flavors of pepper we always use cracked black pepper but there are all kinds of different pepper out there and things like peppers and fruits and vegetables be used as seasoning, and a lot of Mediterranean cooking that is something else sumac which is some kind of berry dried in ground up and it doesn’t have a lot of sugar in it and it’s got a really good unique flavor, a lot of Greek seasonings are very different and it could be a lot of fun to play with that stuff, sometimes I just get sick of plain meat I really want the bad sugary barbecue sauces but sometimes we can satisfy that by using something different and having some variety. It’s a lot of fun a mess with that stuff, I go on RU-vid all the time watching different types of cooks and sometimes they don’t even speak English but you can see the ingredients they use and there’s so much out there we never even thought of using, most people hear the standard salt pepper garlic Ehrlich powder onion powder paprika some people change it up with a little mustard space a lot of Mexican food has the smoked peppers and chili flavors and citrus flavors when you get in the Mediterranean an Asian food is all kinds of different stuff we never even heard of an a lot of it’s really really good

how much beer do you put in?
@m3rdpwr
@m3rdpwr 4 года назад
@@jeffro562 with one rack of ribs, you would want between one and one and a half cups of liquid, depending on the size. Two rocks you definitely would not want to put more than a cup. That's the rule I follow for any liquid, whether it's water, apple juice, or a combination of everything.
@m3rdpwr
@m3rdpwr 4 года назад

@desertdispatch
@desertdispatch 4 года назад
jeff mel well here’s what I do all I’m concerned about is having enough to create some steam so I use a bottle of beer or less. So a cup to a cup and a half is usually sufficient. If you want to add more great. I season my ribs however I want and throw them in the pressure cooker for eight minutes. After that depending on weather and mood I’ll either throw them on the grill or cook them in the oven. If I use the oven it’s usually for about 45 min at 350. Or grill for 20-25. But to answer your question I don’t normally use a lot of liquid, normally not even a full bottle. I’ll drink the rest): But I do this with both chicken and ribs. But experiment. I don’t always use beer. I’ll use lemon lime soda to pressure cook with and lemon flavoring to create lemon bbq sauce. Experiment

I've watched a bunch of these videos now as I am used to smoking the ribs on the grill but adding a good rub prior to putting it in the IP/pressure cooker makes all the difference it seems. That gray soggy look when it isn't seasoned is gross as it ends up being flavorless other than what the sauce brings to it. Well done though. Enjoyed watching this to confirm that I will go with a rub before putting it in the pot.
@m3rdpwr
@m3rdpwr 2 года назад
I did put some sort of a rub on it. I'd have to go back and look and see. When I first started doing this in the instant pot, I would buy a pre-jarred rub. However, being on keto, my rub is just a mixture of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and some other spices. As far as sauce goes, I either use a hot sauce and broil it, or even some g Hughes BBQ sauce sugar-free.I do agree that the gray looks very odd, but once you sauce it and broil it, it's pretty good. Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!

I just got an IP last week and love it. I've done ribs in the oven using liquid smoke in the bottom of a pan(1/2 cup water added) with the ribs on top, and covered the whole pan in foil. The liquid smoke penetrated the meat and made a good rib for being baked. I did a couple layers of BBQ sauce browning in the oven, I'm wonder if the smoke could be added to the water, and would it penetrate the meat?
@m3rdpwr
@m3rdpwr 6 лет назад
That's a good question. It may be something I am willing to try if you could send me a link to that liquid smoke you are using. I use a cup of good apple juice, and a 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar, and rub on the ribs. Some people will just use water and a half onion if they want to reduce the amount of sugar when cooking. Not sure what they would use instead of BBQ sauce though. Thanks for watching, and be sure to send me that link!

BBQ Crasher it is so dependent on the weight and type of ribs. Since I only had one rack of baby back ribs it was about 18 minutes in the pressure cooker. With the two slabs of St Louis ribs, I left it in there probably close to 30 minutes. Then did do a natural Plus slow-release on both of these. These did not appear to have a primary membrane on them. I hear about a secondary membrane as well but you're not supposed to remove it. I'm not a rib expert it's pretty much what I have been watching and other barbecue sites.

Mario Monti Tku for such a quick reply. Ill try 30 mins and see what happens. Also going to try to rig a steaming rack. Had issues where the ones I did in the liquid cooked differently. The fibers got too soft when submerged. Appreciate all the pointers. Also I've taken a completely Frozen rack of ribs and cook them as well in the pressure cooker. From Frozen to awesome it worked out pretty good. 2 racks - 30min not all of them were cooked internally but it was enough to soften themup and shrinkage from the bone. They were finished off on the grill. Thank you again

Get Spare Ribs cheaper and the very same thing as St. Louise Cut. Spare ribs are wider, Cut the side off lengthwise and they become St. Louis Cut Ribs, cheaper and you get more meat without paying them to cut the side off and charging you more.

When I bought the house, there was an old bisque color (yellowish) stove with steel plates to heat up. Took forever to heat up and was kind of ugly. lol I couldn't find anyone to run gas line to it from the furnace room since it was a small job. I ended up buying this flagship convection oven. I really wanted a dual fuel oven, with gas top burners, and electric oven. I did a lot of baking when I was single. lol Thanks for stopping in, I appreciate it!

Making your own rub is so easy, a blind guy can do it. It’s true cause I am legally blind. Salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, smoked paprika, white pepper, sage, thyme, cumin, oregano, smoky mesquite seasoning, chipotle powder, cayenne, onion powder, brown sugar if desired.

@@m3rdpwr what ingredients do you add to the instant pot for the ribs? I’ve done pork tenderloin and pork chops in it, but not many other things. My pork chops turned out to be some of the best I’ve made, using that dry rub I listed (plus Mr. C’s grill seasoning , which you won’t be able to get your hands on because I got it on 4th of July 2023 from working at Carrabba’s. They had a bunch of extra unopened bottles of it and gave it out to employees and customers alike.) along with chicken broth, liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, and once finished, some onion and bbq sauce (which I made myself). I ask because I know the instant pot requires liquid.
@m3rdpwr

For liquid I use a combination of water and apple cider vinegar if I have it. For ribs, typically I use pink Himalayan salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. I will also add some other spices if I feel like it, like smoked paprika or cayenne pepper. In my mix for chicken, in addition to what I just mentioned, I will add white ground pepper, and some other seasonings. Basically I throw in the kitchen sink. LOL

If so how do you like the functions? We will be starting the remodel on our home its first remodel since we had it custom built in 1994. Kids are all gone and its 3 floors on the Gulf, a lot a lot of up keep, it us 2 cats and 6 little doggies :) I really need a new stove I have the Gold Series of Whirlpool's slide in flat top, its in the island so its just flat with everything. Its 7 years old to be exact My husband does not get into stoves,(wish he did) so I ask questions if I find a man that knows how to use a stove and cooks good. :) Its a Blessing to find. Hope you don't mind answering those when you have time Mario, I'm in the west coast of FL in Pinellas Co. I am a new Subbie :)

Please ask away! I used to back quite a bit when I was baking all the time back when I bought it. There are only a few manufacturers, KitchenAid falls under the Whirlpool collection. (As well as Maytag and some others.) The convection fan rubs the back of the stove, probably because I have it pushed tight up against the wall. Otherwise, I really like it and haven't had any issue. I wish the buzzer timer was louder. These days, you can't hear them over a whisper. These days we use it only when we cook much larger meals. Otherwise, the AF cooks it faster and at a lower temperature. The stainless is a little bit of a pain to clean. The matching microwave was being finicky at one point, but sorter itself out. The matching dishwasher stainless will not clean, period. My Maytag (whirlpool) broke, but I was able to fix it for a few dollars when the main board blew out. (Common issue.) Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!

Mario Does the Kitchen Aid self clean? And does it have 4 or 5 eye's? #2 you use an AF I have not checked your case out to see yet, But I always wondered about the AF as my sister has one she never uses LOL. I love the instapot although I haven't ventured out and cooked a lot of different dishes in it yet just the main ones, frozen meat a couple times but mostly pot roast and cheesecakes. :) I use a seal for main dishes and another seal for desserts also I use a pot for main dishes and a different pot for desserts :) Crazy I know. Thank You. I will go look for any video you have on instapot and AF, Blessings to You and Your;s!!

My model does, but not all do. It does a fairly decent job, you can select the level of clean on mine as well. Eyes? If you mean burners, it has 4. The one in the back middle is a hot plate. I think it goes up to 100F Degrees, but I'd have to skim through the manual to be sure. I love my AF, I've made probably 70+ videos just on AF's alone. PC I've done maybe 4 videos, and a handful with just the Breville. :)
