How do I keep my hamsters cool in the summer?
Which method works the best for cooling down a hamster in hot weather?
Is there anything we should be aware of?
I have shared some safe cooling tips in this video
Every hamster is different, please give them more choices if possible. I hope you and your hamster can enjoy a nice summer.

In the past I have put those plastic blocks with the antifreeze in them on top of the mesh on my hamsters enclosure to create a cool downdraft that forms a cool layer of air on the floor. Just rotate them every 90 - 120 mins. Hamster seemed very happy.

Very interesting and useful video! Many thanks! My hamsters are very hot, Dzungarian hamsters sleep in glass jars, and Bobby the Syrian hamster did not want to part with a wooden house and sleeps in it when the hamster gets hot and goes to sleep in a glass jar. 🤩🐹🥰

@@generalgrievous3066 I’m sure they do but it’s amazing how they are drawn to the cooling system they are being provided with and these hamsters don’t live in the desert so not used to very hot conditions.

Also one thing you can do is put them in a air conditioning room! You can also cool their little houses like the video! ^w^ I strongly recommend the houses with air flow! But if you don’t have any of them, you only have plastic houses or your parents are strict about you using glass stuff, you can use plastic houses. Just make sure it’s not really cramped! Also add more water, they tend to drink slot in the summers, bringing them out can help them too! I tend to bring mine into my air conditioning room, they love it. But just don’t be too cold. Last thing I want to say is, hamsters tend to sleep a lot. If you have figured out where they normally sleep, you can put ice jars like the video near them. They might feel more comfy

Ooh, good ideas! when it's really too hot for my bois I take an ice pack and wrap it in a dishtowel, before placing it under a portion of their cage (they have large plastic storage tubs. The cool radiates up in a spot but doesn't get too cold (I check frequently) and they can also move to another part of their tub that is less chilled

Thanku so much for these tips I def gonna try the tile one as my lil robovroski has been flattening himself out onto his plastic shelf's to keep cool. He also placed his lil testicles on a slice of cucumber and sat on it for a bit which gave us a giggle. U could almost see the relief on his lil face. I also love the idea of cooling their sand too. Sooo cute! I freeze a large water bottle and place it next to his hide and under bedding to keep it frozen longer. His hide gets nice and cool and he will not leave it for very long until the weather cools.

@@KumaQQ cooked as in after washing just put them in hot water to soak/boil for 1 minute that's all?do I season it with any oil or how ?as I have never gave any fresh greens to my hammies the past

@@philiptan3811 Boil for 1 min is fine, no seasoning. If the place you live has high food standards, then washed raw vegetables are also fine. Just make sure you only give a small portion (thumb size) a day :)

i offered a jar, a coconut hide, and wooden bendy log thing but my hamster sleeps in the cardboard tunnel and barracades herself off when she'd too hot. shes always kept out of sunlight anyway because of where she's best placed for the place i live.

Careful! Mine died of heat stroke in cooler temperatures than that. I had the blinds shut to keep the direct sun out and cool the room, but it wasn't enough.

Hope my hamster will like something like this because I been looking for ways to cool her down. It has been in the 80s and 90s where I am the fan has been doing well but this should help more.
