"From the first screen on power up to final parameter sets, the keypad is designed to accomplish a single objective - easy use," says Mark Kenyon, product marketing manager for ABB Inc., Low-Voltage Drives. The keypad, similar in look, feel and functionality to a mobile phone, features separate start and stop keys, easy parameter set keys and two soft keys, changing functions according to the operating state of the panel.
The control panel of the keypad offers help, diagnostics, programming and maintenance with the push of a button. The keypad controls also offer copy/download, back-up parameters, start/stop of auto operation and an instruction manual.
The keypad also offers a help button, start-up assistant, maintenance triggers, and diagnostic assistance. This provides ease-of-use for set-up, simple configuration, rapid fault diagnosis and maintenance reminders.
The start-up assistant provides a guided start-up with step-by-step instructions. The keypad also offers application-specific help, a maintenance monitor and diagnostics. Other features of the drive include energy optimization and a controlled cooling fan.
