Good stuff Sandro! I'd like to add something: To those people on a tight budget, the original RainX works extremely well if you prep the glass as instructed here. You can use any cheap compound & elbow grease. As for the IPA step, you can use Stoner Invisible Glass. You can get it on Walmart for like 4 bucks for a 950ml bottle, and it works on paint too! Even on relatively soft and black finishes, I haven't had any issues with it and if it's good enough to leave glass clean and streak free, it's good enough to apply coatings. I'd also like to add that if your glass is way too etched with waterspots (as was the case with my 88' Honda CRX) you'll have to polish it with Carpro Ceriglass. I just used a standard, white polishing foam pad and it left the glass flawless and ready for coating. Used rainX and that was some time in 2019 and it's still beading up incredibly! Mind you, it IS a garage queen, but goes to show that cheap products can also be excellent and durable if prepped, installed and maintained correctly.

@@rooboy99 The Mirch Neo Lite is fantastic. The NV Glass is also fantastic. Both are still performing amazingly well. Preparation is key to long lasting results. I DA'd both front and rear screens with heavy cut compound. IPA wipe down, then applied. Both screens are incredible. For ease of use however, the Mirch Neo Lite is clearly easier to apply; although prep is key to the performance I feel. The NV Glass on the front is just going great. Super hydrophobic. Both awesome still at this stage

Great video. I use AngelWax H2Go which is less permanent, albeit still does many months. Only issue is some wiper chatter below 30mph (I'm not using them if I'm any faster). I'll try treating the blades with it. IMHO, the main advantage of these coatings is safety in horrendous rain. I can pass trucks on the motorway and, when the spray from them hits, I don't lose visibility. Ditto in heavy rain where everybody else is leaning forward over the steering wheel, eyes on stalks and wipers flat out. I just drive, relaxed with the wipers off!

Hi Sandro Great video. Followed the process and it works great. The only issue I have is when it rains lightly and the wipers (which were also given a coating) work on a slower speed the grippy glass makes the blades judder. No issue if it is bucketing down and wipers are moving at their fastest due to less friction because of the excess rain water. Any suggestions how to get around this juddering?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Год назад
Thanks, and unfortunately some wipers and/or windshield can be more prone to wiper chatter than others once coated. It can after some use go away at times, and sometimes topping the coating with a slicker quick detailer or spray sealant can also help.

Thanks as always Sandro... a lot of glass coatings I have used recommend waiting for up to 20 minutes to buff off the residue, some with wait time between layers. In your experience then do these wait times have any advantage in terms of longevity or performance, as your method here was to apply consecutive layers then immediately buff?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 года назад
Most glass sealants/coatings I’ve used generally ask you to wait unlit the products hazes over before levelling, which tends to happen quite rapidly with most of these coatings, and laying times should also be quite quick as most of these coatings flash and cure much faster than standard paint coatings, but as mentioned in the video others will have more specific time frames and instructions which is probably a good idea to follow.

Nova Pro works great on glass I’ve had it own my own car for 4yrs+. However, depending on the specific windscreen and wipers it can like many other paint coatings cause wiper chatter and it’s hard to predict whether it will or not until you try it. If I want to coat a few layers of NextZett Glass Sealant - should I coat the second one on haze/without removing the haze, or should I remove the haze first and then apply a second layer? I haven’t used Nextzett enough to know everything about it’s application but since it doesn’t flash as quick as something like Nova Glass I would tend to give it more time, maybe a half hour between costs and stick to individual coats rather than consecutively layers it as I do with Nova. @CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 года назад
It’s really hard for me to say what’s gone wrong with side panels, it could be a few different things, like your detergent/foam, some sort of contamination or existing paint protection on those panels prior to application, the product not being shaken up properly, some dirt or contamination on your cloths - I can only guess unfortunately

Hi, So when you say to use only car polishes to clean the glass, Ceriglass is no good ? You mentioned that glass polishes contain sealants. I thought Ceriglass was a cutting polish designed to correct any minor defects in glass AND clean it at the same time. Does Ceriglass contain such sealants too ?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 года назад
No I don’t believe CeriGlass contains those additives but others such as Autoglym, Meguiars and many other glass polishes do seem to leave sealants behind which would cause bonding issues with glass coatings. In my experience CeriGlass is great if the glass has significant scratches- you can reduce them with A Lot of work, ideally using a rotary, but CeriGlass does leave behind micro scratches that are virtually impossible to remove in my experience. So unless the glass is quite bad to start with I wouldn’t use it.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing I have Ceriglass which I intend to use to correct a wiper blade streak, that's about it. Just reading your comment. Did you mean Ceriglass "does" or "doesn't" leave behind micro scratches ? I might try it out on a sacrificial piece of auto glass and see what you mean. I haven't used it as yet which is why I though to ask. Thanks for the fast reply mate. You're a Champion !

@CarCraftAutoDetailing

Yes you can use it on glass, it’s just that sometime certain windshield and wiper setups can cause wiper chatter, usually doesn’t happen but it can on certain cars.

Hi, ive installed the glass coating but when their are very tiny rain drops and I use my wiper there is a slight haze /whitish glare, is this normal? I deconned the car clay barred it then polished it and finished it with eraser
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 9 месяцев назад
The coating shouldn’t add any glare/haze if it’s all been prepped correctly and levelled down clear and clear during the application. Glare can obviously occur on windscreens in the dry and wet and with or without a coating applied, but if you feel the glare/haze is something new and due to the coating, that’s different. I can’t say for sure what the issue is but I can try to guess: Haze/ghosting which can cause glare is usually due the coating not bonding sufficiently, it can occur due to polish/wax/silicone residue interference during application. Another possibility is that the coating may have not been completely levelled down, leaving a fine haze. Sometimes wipers can also be the cause of this issue - especially if they are becoming worn out. Some cars - such as Tesla- tend to have very finicky glass/wiper setups that can be problematic to any glass polishing/coating process. Even after doing this for decades now, there’s still rare times when wired things happen - like your issue - that I can’t always explain, but I hope that helps.

Hang on a sec, Sandro, you have said that compound polishes like all polishes do have oils in them, to help allow the spread of the products, so products like Maguire's glass polish or autonyms glass polish is the same thing right, a glass polish and not a paint polish?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

Hi How many coats on a glass roof?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 2 года назад
I tend to use my paint coating for glass roofs as there’s no wipers or seals the glass rubs against which is the main reason you use dedicated glass coatings. But it’s really up to you and one coat can be absolutely fine but multiple coats can last potentially longer.

I'm not sure why NV doesn't have a channel where they show how to apply their product, and we have to rely on guys like this which i do appreciate big time. Not a good look for their brand. I also find this stuff causes whipper chatter more so than any other coating, but it does bead up well so its win/loose so far.
