Slight noise. Bouncing bumping thumping sounds. So the reason why my felt came off / “burnt out” was because 1 of the back rollers was broken … hence lopsided barrel , hence friction on the felt.
Same on my machine left rear roller was off , all the other rollers were seized,my tensioner was seized , tensioner wheel was worn through by the belt friction grinding noise
I JUST SAVED HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS BY DOING THIS MYSELF!!!!! And gained the admiration of my family. They were freaking out when they saw the dryer in pieces, but as an experienced DIYer, I knew this was a piece of cake. And it was. THANK YOU! (BTW, for those who don't have many clamps, office clips work perfectly well also. Any size.)
Thank you sir for the detailed video. Guys like you and videos like this save guys like me (5 kids and lots of repairs) a lot of money. Really appreciate you all making this available.
Thank You! This video was absolutely perfect! Watched along before I started and it gave me all the confidence I needed to get started and complete the job. Couldn’t have done it without you. Super grateful. 🙏❤️
I've replaced the heating element 3 times and associated wires a few times on this machine. I've also replaced the drum rollers once, so this is just one more thing it needs. Thanks for showing every single step in the video. Very helpful.
Minor tip: I used painter's tape below the bottom of the felt gasket. That way when the glue ran, none gut stuck on the drum. Just peeled the tape off before the glue dried. Thank you!! Not exact same model but close enough to guide me through.
Thank you (once again) for the detailed information. It came in extremely handy while replacing the felt gasket on my Samsung dryer. This was the second time I've had to perform this maintenance, and this was by far the smoothest. It also helped a great deal to prep - layout tools, gloves, (work gloves for taking apart/reassembling machine, latex gloves for adhesive application) etc.
This was absolutely perfect! Thank you for being so detailed in under 17 minutes. Great for my short attention span. ;) I managed to get it done correctly. Great job!
Thank you so much for the detailed step-by-step. Tore apart the dryer to replace the gaskets and discovered the idler pulley needed replacement as well. Had 2 days for both felt pieces to cure, so ordered and replaced that and the belt while in there. For noobs like me, I'd recommend, after each of his steps at removing screws, tape them to a piece of paper with masking tape and label the step number and part. That way when you reassemble, you use the same screws in the correct spots AND you shouldn't have any left over.
This was an excellent video! So organized and clear. It helped me to complete this job by myself. I benefited from using 5 clamps instead of 4 to dry fit the gasket. Great work!
I was not able to order a part from you as I am in Canada, but wanted to thank you for posting this video. I will recommend you to my family in the states if they ever need an appliance part!
Thank you so much for this information this saved me from having a technician come out and fix it when i can do it myself and save some money ! (and im a female and nailed it lol)
This video was absolutely perfect. Made the fix so easy. Only problem is now that we have it all put back together the dryer is really loud. No rattling or thumping, just loud. Any ideas?
I have the same issue that I am trying to troubleshoot...did everything according to the video and now a very loud noise. I know it is not the video but me or something else that is also wrong with the dryer.
Great video, tackled it as you said and I am now drying some towels. I used a bungee cord instead of clamps for 100% pressure everywhere while glue dries. Also, I noticed that the rear left drum roller was broken and the right rear was starting to bend, (you also had a video for this;) )hence maybe the reason for the friction causing the felt to come apart. Again from chicken coops to sand box / bench’s to gas ranges to dyi shop to toilets and now to dryers !!!!
@PartsDr thank you for the excellent and detailed video. However, upon reassembling my dryer drum is so “tight” it will not spin if I manually spin it clockwise nor will it spin fully assembled with the motor. Is it possible the felt gaskets are making it too snug to spin? Help!!
Loved the video! however, when I put it all back together, the motor started making a constant loud grating noise. When I ran the motor without the drum in at all , there was no noise. Any suggestions? ...the motor is only making the terrible noise when the belt is attached
We aren't sure what is causing your noise. We would recommend to take it apart and make sure that everything is assembled correctly. Let us know what you find as the cause of the problem.
Thanks for the detailed video! Quick question, I'm taking the drum out of a Samsung DV42H5000EW/A3 and noticed the notches on the baffles face to the left, not the right. We had a repairman replace the heating element two years ago. Did he put the drum in the wrong way or do the notches on the baffles for this model really face left?
The stock photo for your model dryer shows the baffles the same as the ones in this video. It sounds like somebody either put them in incorrectly or the drum was flipped around at some point.
Do the rollers actually ride on the Felt? A repair man said the rollers ride on the felt Tbe felt broke in November, ive put a roller or two in it once a month since Thanksgiving...they keep blowing up, and theres black rubber everywhere, and its on the cloths too...
The rollers do not ride on the felt. It sounds like you are using cheap aftermarket rollers that are failing. The OEM Samsung ones like the ones that we sell on our site partsdr.com do not fail as you describe.
WOW! What a great video!! Bravo to you folks!!! I want to order the proper glue to re-attach the liner on our Samsung gas dryer. Does PARTS DR. stock it? How can I order it / Product No.?
We are glad you found this video helpful! Here is a link to the high-temperature adhesive for the drum felt gasket here: partsdr.com/part/y055980-high-temperature-adhesive
Approximately how much does the drum weigh? I'm 56, I have had two back surgeries, not sure if I have the strength to move the drum. Also, I plan to replace both sides of the felt, should I replace the belt at the same time? It's 5/6 years old, thinking I might as well. Model #DV42H5200EF/A3
I know you sell adhesive but im in a jam and need something quick, I replaced my felt strip and ran out of adhesive, is there something I can use quick??
We checked and the links are there. But here they are for you: partsdr.com/part/dc97-07618a-drum-gasket partsdr.com/part/y055980-high-temperature-adhesive
I just attempted to put new felt gaskets on that I got from Amazon. When I fully reassemble the dryer, the drum is too tight and very difficult to spin by hand, almost impossible. This happens after I put the front drum frame back on the machine. There seems to be no clearance for the drum to rotate. Powered, the dryer will will run and spin for a couple minutes but then the motor shuts off. Do you think a slightly thicker gasket could cause this? I ordered a set from you guys now and hoping it fixes the issue because it is noticeably thinner than the gasket I got from Amazon.
It sounds like the gaskets that you sourced from Amazon might be aftermarket or knockoffs of the original OEM felt seals. Let us know what you find out.
@@PartsDr That's exactly what I'm expecting. The stitching color is yellow instead of white, also the gasket I got from them folds over completely where the one from you guys doesn't. One side is longer than the other. I didn't struggle putting the Amazon gasket on, where the one from you guys was so tight it was a real struggle like the video said it would be. It took me 10 clamps lol. I just glued the first one, and letting it cure for the 24 hours. I will definitely report back, because it will be good for you and especially potential customers to know.
This is the drum felt gasket for your model here: partsdr.com/part/dc97-07618a-drum-gasket High temp adhesive here: partsdr.com/part/y055980-high-temperature-adhesive/
Great video. One question- in the video you say the black stitched side is what gets glued to the drum, but also that is should go on the outside. Should it face out, or face in for gluing, or does it not matter a whole lot?
