Hello. It depends really. If you're buying leather boots, especially kangaroo leather (Copa Mundial), one can buy them on the tighter side, the leather will eventually stretch to the form of your foot, giving you just enough space for the perfect ball touch. So it's not a bad idea to get the boot nice and snug. If purchasing synthetic materials, then yes, 1/4 space is enough. Toes rubbing against plastic hurts way more than rubbing against a leather that stretches a little. From experience, nothing feels better than a leather boot that fits like a sock.
A question Vito. I got my nike premier delivered today, they feel amazing and tight everywhere except the toe area where they are really tight. But they are full leather so I don't know if i should give them time to stretch or if I should return it and go bigger? Will they really stretch enough? It was a long time since i last had leather boots so I do not remember.
HI mate I just got a pair of NIke premier today and had the exact same issue! Reading online people have advised to buy half a size up but other people are saying the leather stretches over time. How have they been from your experience?

i'm 16, and my feet are still growing. i was a size 12.5 in soccer cleats last year, and i am now a 13 / 13.5 and am still growing. very informative video btw. it'll help me in the future.
This is so true!! i know a lot of people who forget that your toes should be close to the tip but not actually touching the tip of the boot, as close as possible without getting too tight, learnt this from iniesta himself! not kidding. and for those who need any advice on sizing, nike and adidas are wayyyy different in sizing, in an F50 i wear a size 8/8.5 UK and in any nike size 6.5 UK
Yo, good Video Man, but i have something to add: So basically you're right, soccer shoes should always be fitting well and tighter than street shoes. but you can't forget that you also run a lot during playing soccer. So actually having a shoe that is so tiny that your toes are pushing at the front, it makes your feet hurt after a couple sprints. A perfect shoe should have 0,5 to 1 cm room for your feet, when you also think about your feet swelling up during sports due to more blood down there.
Not only that some guy at footlocker told me this and I bought a size 9.5 (my size is 11.5) and my foot would have cramps underneath my arch i would throw myself in ground from pain... i now wear a size 11.5 cleat and it feels great.
This butch Jack Rodwell look-alike gave no useful information here. I worked as a sales assistant at a top sportswear company, all the scales we had to measure a customers feet were 1/2 a size bigger to allow for the pressures of running a lot in a game. "...it's that much room for error..," more like it's that much room to PREVENT error, to prevent being taken off early due to foot pains. Also wearing tight shoes promotes the chance of developing a bunion, even if you're not genetically predisposed to getting one.
Alright, here's my dilemma: I have wide feet. I measured my feet, and they're roughly between an 8 and 8.5, but an E width. I couldn't fit my left foot into a size 8, so the close I could get to having my toe touching the tip of the shoe was an 8.5, although there was still roughly less than a centimeter of space. It was also really, really snug (though I wouldn't say there was any pain; I'm just used to a looser fit). My bigger concern was that I felt the widest part of (continued in reply)...

I should have ordered 2 sizes smaller than 11.5, which means that a 9.5 US size would fit me perfectly. NOW I'M PRAYING THEY STILL HAVE A PAIR IN STOCK!!!
Feet permanently stop growing from 18-20 (at 15 it just it won't be growing as fast) And leaving a slight succinct space at the tip is useful because the majority of tight Shoes Spread (again depends on material ..)
when l try on a pair of boots i sit on my heels, afterwards l straighten my toes and if i can touch the front end of the boot with my toes then i know that thats the size i want. but if i cant touch the front end of the boot although my toes are straightened than that means its too big or if i can't straighten my toes than that means its too tight. ANYWAY YOU MUST FEEL COMFORTABLE IN THEM. NOT TOO LOOSE BUT NOT TOO TIGHT NOT TOO TIGHT BUT NOT TOO LOOSE
idk, i appreciate your advice but i prefer the extra room in my cleat im 16 and i still get 1/2 size up just for that comfort regardless of the growing rate of my feet.
For leather go as tight as comfortable possible, the rest will mold and stretch to your foot. For synthetic leave a little room perhaps a centimeter or less.

Yes, good shoe for anyone in an attacking offensive position in my opinion. There are some differences between the Vapor 6 and the Vapor 9, so try to get into a Soccer Post store and try them on before you buy.
It depends on if the shoes are made of leather or synthetic material and if the leather has been treated with any type of mink oil or other leather protection.

I'm not an expert on American Football cleats but I would have to guess it all depends on the position you are playing and what age level you are playing at. As an offensive skill position (running back or wide receiver) I think you can get away with wearing your soccer cleats.
Hey, so I bought new cleats, I normally wore size 9 n I bought a size 7 they fit perfect like I barely have any extra space on the toe but only on the left feet my toe beside the pinky toe hurts a bit whn I have them on for a while. Is that going to be fixed after a few sessions or do I get a size bigger ?
It really depends on the material. If it is a kangaroo type leather, after the break in period a half size smaller than normal will work. If the shoe is calf skin leather or synthetic material, buy them to fit as is. With those type shoes, still get them to fit snugly to increase your touch-ability.
Found this post helpful. We purchased a pair of cleets for our daughter. We thought they fit with the idea for growth (room in the shoe). Later to find out my daughter's feet were sliding in the shoe and hindered her big toes. We will be purchasing a better fit cleet now. Thanks
you may also be ruining your daughters feet. Basically buy half a size bigger than she usually wears. If there is 2 much play buy an insert to tighten the fit .
i have good shoes (addidas coppa mondiale) and about 1/3 cm in front of my toes but when i trie stop sprinting my toes hurt is it because i dont tie my shoes close enough?
i would like to weigh in here through my experience...There is absolutely no correct shoe size... it varies by your width as well as the shape of the shoe.A friends feet are shorter than mine but his shoe size is 1/2 size more than me,, unless he buys a square toe shoe in which case its 1/2 size less than me..So always try before buying... But in my experience the best is to always go 1/2 size up on your shoes.. You may want to put an extra sock sometime, or more importantly your feet can swell and the less pressure on feet the better to avoid deformities like bunion or other foot problems
My only suggestion would be to either buy two different pairs of shoes or double up on the socks on your smaller foot. Most people have a foot that is either 1 or 1/2 a size smaller than the other.
Great question! In my opinion, it comes down to personal preference. When you first buy a pair of kangaroo leather, it will run very tight for the first week or so. But after they are completely broken in, they will fit snug (like a sock). If your toes are crunched up and do not lay flat then they are too tight, but when you first try them on, your toes will be crunched. Make sense? Thanks for the question.
It's easier to make leather cleats stretch as oppose to shrink. I wouldn't try to put them in water either because it will likely decrease the durability. My best suggestion would be to wear two pair of socks. Moving forward, always try to buy from a local soccer shop. This way, you can try the shoes on before you buy them and they typically have a more flexible return policy. Always do business locally.....

please DO NOT listen to this guy. i can see there is nothing helpful but trying to advertising his store. you need to have some space between your toes and cleats, because your feet will naturally slide forward when you walk. so imagine when you run in high speed. also, for those of you who has wide feet, u GOTTA have some space! otherwise it will hurt you pinky toe.

Hi allen. I've just bought a pair of shoes from Adidas. I had chosen size 7( in this size my toes slightly touch the cleats but it hugs my arches making me feel a tiny bit uncomfortable - idk if it really does) then i chose 7 and a half. When I got home I feel like it has a little room which i can put my my index finger in the heel of shoes ( sr 4 my bad english). I wonder if it's good cuz my toes don't touch the cleats which makes me feel weird :) Hope you'll answer my question :)
Hello Lam always better to me comfortable don't buy the uncomfortable boot. I think you made the right decision . You can always put a small heel insert or another shoe sole insert in to make them a bit snugger fit. Also if your under 15 your foot will grow into them a little bit. Also when boots are tight fit its bad for your feet and they tend to come apart easy. Unless you bought leather which over time will give maybe half a size. The synthetic boots really do not change much . You do not want a boot that is 2 loose though .
Lam Ngoc Nguyen Ly hi, sometimes you cannot just get a perfect size but it is ok. wear a extra sock if u feel need to. after cleats being broke in they should be fit better in most of cases. definitely do not go for size that hurt your feet because it will be worse when u run and shoot the ball.

It depends if you have a wide midfoot or forefoot, I wouldn't go for adidas if you have a wide midfoot (bad experiences myself), although a Copa wouldn't be bad. I'm currently loving my Puma Powercats :)
It'd be usable certainly (I've actually been using 10s, and before that, 11s back when I didn't know how cleats should fit), but I want to figure out my right size. The 8.5 I mentioned before was a Nike Tiempo Legend IV, which as I recall, has a marginally wider sole plate than the adiPure IV, so it wouldn't make much of a difference. Eventually I'd like to get a cleat in an E width (a Made in Japan Mizuno Morelia would be my dream shoe), but until then, I want a good fitting normal width cleat.
Great question! In my opinion, if you are use to wearing 2 pair of socks, keep doing it. If you go from wearing 1 pair then try to wear 2, it will effect your game. I've been wearing 2 pair of socks for as long as I have been playing and I still seem to have right amount of touch and feel on the ball. Thanks for the awesome question!!
It's not so much that they're made in Germany as it is that the Copa Mundial has a bit of a funny fit. It tends to fit a whole size bigger than other cleats (so you should go about a full size down).
Sorry but your wrong! 2 sizes smaller thats insane. Running in those for an entire game will cause pain & blisters. Please no one listen to what he just said about sizing your shoe. You want a perfect fit, not any bigger or smaller. Thats crazy...from an 8 to a 6.5?!

Right. Fat or wide feet won't even fit into a Mercurial. Adidas is cut a bit wider and a leather boot will more likely stretch to accommodate your wider foot.

I train with really thin half length socks because I wear my shoes really tight, but when I have a game I have to wear the thick long ones for shinguards. I would like to know the name of the socks you're wearing?
Cut the bottom half of your football sock off and use a normal sock and the top half of the football sock. Then use tape around below the shinguard. There are tutorials of it

If you buy the boots too small you will get blisters on the sides and the front of you feet. And if the heel is too tight it will result in pain that will make it uncomfortable to run in.

Going up to a size 9 fixed that problem and offered a more comfortable width, but the store employing helping me noted there was a bit too much space in the length. I'm looking to invest in a wide fit shoe, but those are difficult to get, so until then, what size would you recommend I go with?

Basically here is a tip when buying shoes, what this guy in the video is talking about are BS. If you're 15-16 years old (Usually the age when your foot stops growing) then you don't need to worry about your shoe size for your future. If you're getting a leather boots then always go for that PERFECT fit, the Leather will stretch out and it will mold your foot. If you're getting synthetic, get 0.5 size bigger or make sure that there is a space between your toe and the end of your boot usually the size of your pinky or index finger. Wide footed people will have trouble trying to fit in some shoes such as Mercurial Vapors since these are made for narrow footed. Narrow footed people are very lucky since they are able to fit into any boots. Always choose FG studs as your main boot since this can be used virtually anywhere (Except AG pitch) Choose SG studs if you play in an area where rain is all year round Choose AG if you're playing on artificial pitch.
