In this how-to video, we are using some simple woodworking techniques to build a raised garden bed. Due to the risk of splitting the ends of our boards, we need to countersink the holes for our screw heads. Oftentimes, people will use a countersink drill bit, however, there is an easier method for countersinking screws! This method saves you a step, it is faster and easier.

I love it when there are such simple "MacEyver'-ing ways to do anything. I am a 61-year-old DIY'er (wannabe) woman carpenter. I have been attending the University of RU-vid for several years now and have learnt, (then done) anything and everything I've wanted to. This was definitely one of my favourites. Thank you PROFESSOR!

Im a 27yo woman, im also a wannabe diyer that works with wood 😅 I hate it when im buying materials the men selling me the stuff always questions me and ask what do I need the things for so they can help me even though im telling them exactly what I need, the worst was when buying sandpaper 🤦🏻‍♀

@@thriveandgrowgardens Just checking. When you're making room using the screw the drill is in reverse? So you have it in reverse but apply some pressure to stop the screw coming out? And angle the screw slightly and move it in a circular motion?

FYI people when a touch of that coating is removed when installing it will start to rust in a open outdoor environment so saying it won’t rust is false in most cases.
@thriveandgrowgardens
@thriveandgrowgardens Год назад
I agree that if the coating is removed it will rust but in my experience building with them for almost a decade, they have performed extremely well. The only time I have seen noticeable rust has been an instance where I didn't sink the screw deep enough and took off some coating with the orbital sander during the sanding process. I would recommend using a good quality, tightly fitting drill bit. Happy building!
