I think that the purple/magenta dabs add a little bit of fairy tale feel. like some kind of magic grotto where dangerous archfeys would dwell. I would experiment with various colours to see the effect!

Awesome, I actually think the pink spots gives a nice variation on the overall space, since they stay scarce, but they do break the uniformity of the whole set in a nice way. Always love your tutorials, I remember my first major work as a crafter were over 64 Wyloch tiles, but I backed them with magnets back then to be set on a large metal sheet set on the gametable, you hadn't invented the intelocking system yet...But since you've come up with the interlock system I've wanted to upgrade my old tiles to the new system. For caverns and underdark I usually go with modular walls set on top of some kind of battlemat since I play gridless but I still find tiles very useful for corridors or dungeons. I'll upgrade my old tiles as soon as I get a little fee time...thanks for the tutorial!

Good to see more solid terrain magic coming out. The tiles proper are solid and what I'd expect as is the high quality of the video and explanation. The surprize is the paint scheme, which is quite different than usual and is spectacular. Well done!

The pink looks fine once it's spread out over a few tiles. I think you got the balance just right in the end. Green as you say, would have overwhelmed it - but green on your scatter would work. Great looking set of tiles!

I love the variant take on your cave system. The torn cork squares make a big style difference. Already thinking about how to simulate that look in sculpture for 3D printing. And for what my opinion is worth, the color choices in this rock. The pink splashes add just the right touch of weird phosphorescence variation.

Very well thought out. You actually covered my questions from the locking tabs video in this one. I would absolutely LOVE to see what this would look like with a handful of fluorescent black lights in the room and minimal white light. I think your custom tiles would be positively breathtaking. ..and I think you'd fall in love with that fluorescent pink. ;) You might give some tips in a future vid for making crevasses, trellis's, bridges and etc, :) I was thinking that an occasional round (oval) hole or wall in the flooring, as well as an occasional collapsed wall / rubble might add some character.

@@WylochsArmory Would you suggest making dungeon tiles with cardboard, as in video 95, or just using chipboard as you did for the caves in this video?
@WylochsArmory
@WylochsArmory 5 лет назад
@@YouSunkMyFishy It's a mix. If you don't care about the interlocking, save yourself a lot of time and effort, just use double corrugated for the tile's foundation, and cover up the corrugation with thin cardstock.
@YouSunkMyFishy
@YouSunkMyFishy 5 лет назад
@@WylochsArmory The interlocking feature is something about the system that interests me the most, but what I really wonder is: Is there a reason to not replace the cardboard with chipboard - effectively using an entirely chipboard base? Luckily for me, I have a whole table of volunteers who are excited to help me make the bases, because they're as interested in this upgrade as I am. Time is no concern for me.

Learned so much from watching you. I went rouge used rustoleum gray primer (like a dumb ass) and melted down the top layer in a few parts on top of this decaying castle that leads into a sewer I've been working on. I've used testors paint for now. I like testors silver paint. So for the piping system I used toilet paper tubes cut them, widened them out a little bit amp painted them silver. Looks like a decent pipe for a sewer. I added a mixture of orange, red, a drop of gold paint and gravel dust in sposts for a rust effect. Looks nice.

Wyloch's Armory I'll be running a homebrew Mindflayer Dungeon near an entrance to Northdark soon, so this will be perfect! Normally in other videos the walls just resemble a ledge, but in this video they really make me think of cavern walls, might even be ledges too 😂 I like to imagine there's multi-level pathways bridging pillars of stone in the depths of Underdark. These turned out looking really good, but something I have done in the past for cave tiles is to not change the base-shape of a tile. This allows you to use the the "outside" of a corner to bulge into a room instead of out if you'd like. This also lets you have more chambers in a smaller table-area by having two of them share the wall. The pink/blue reminds me of the "bi lighting" trend that's popped up in youtube videos.

I love the modular tiles, especially the underdark. I have been reading the Salvatore novels for many years. I'm wondering if it possible to use the cork when making regular straight walls and 90 corners? I like the look of the cork better than the 1 1/8 on top of 1 1/4 from your original crafting EPs. Is it possible to make the straight calls without cutting the tiles to fit in the remaining space? Maybe 1" square cork would leave room for the walls on the edges?

I love your tile lock system. As a matter of fact, your work is just lovely, practical, and looks great when assembled. Many thanks for sharing it. I have a question, since you have such great experience assembling tiles for D&D games. What is the best grid system in your perspective? I've seen people using hexagon grids, and that makes me wonder. What about bases for miniatures? Should I use squares too, or make it easier on narrow tiles, by using round bases? Square bases seem better to make groups of enemies, no?
@WylochsArmory
@WylochsArmory 5 лет назад
For dungeon crawls, I can't imagine hexes being useful. Walls will straddle the hex lines, just looks weird to me. I like the aesthetics of a square grid. Specifically, 1-1/4" squares. Thanks very much for watching.

These look so good. I wonder - if you substituted bright red and orange and yellow for light blue, would the same approach work for somewhere volcanic or infernal? (Might be good to make the main surface of each tile near-black, too, and paint the base layer in the lava colours as well as the tile edges). This just in - somebody's done it and posted on reddit! (Link doesn't come through well - try searching Wyloch lava tiles reddit.)
