Day 1 of the 2019 Daiwa BREAM Australian Open was a good old fashioned crankbait fest. Check outr the highlights from the first couple of hours with tips on how to catch bream in shallow rocky water on crankbaits.
My gear for the segment:
• Daiwa TD Zero 7'2" LFS
• Daiwa Gekkabijin reel
• Yamatoyo Spinning Fluoro 3lb
• Atomic 38mm Crankbait in Ghost Gill Brown colour (GGB)

Hi Steve, can you please specify the rod. I tried to search for it with Daiwa TD Zero 7'2" LFS but it shows different models. Also, can you explain more about the rod sensitivity and selection for this type of lures and weight

"Bream do not break a slack line" .. Well now that you said it I just noticed I havent lost many bream on slack line .. but why is that?

Hi Steve, Great Video!, can I ask, are you using a freshwater Minn Kota in the salt? I'm from WA and we're a bit behind, I was intending on buying a Saltwater Riptide Minn Kota but after seeing your set up I'm wondering if I could save some money?

That Ultrex has had a saltwater aftermarket modification. Minn Kota Ultrex Upgrade with MinnRepairs (in Australia) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VvJ5lwc4puA.html I’d stick with the salt motors in the salt.

Hi Steve, I know this is an old video. But I have started fishing cranks with 4lb straight through. How do you manage the line twist?

You shouldn’t have any of your crankbaits are swimming straight.

@@SteveMorganFishingMonthly yeah, I think it’s more so from the crank spinning when it’s fouled up with a bit of weed and after landing a fish.

Just to clarify I bought few rods in the past and it seems that the tip is not flexible for light lures and I did not enjoy casting with it when watching your vid it seems the tip is more flexible and easy to cast such light lures

Yes - you need light rods for small lires
