How to create a 1000 amp current probe in your PicoScope

When a starter motor is first engaged, it often draws up to 1000 amps momentarily, which you cannot measure if your current probe only goes up to 600 amps. The 600 amp current probe can actually measure much more than 600 amps. I will show you how to create a custom probe in PicoScope that will allow you to measure a 1000 amps or more with your 600 amp probe.

Wao . You are Amazing I love your videos I have a question for you I wanted to buy pico just work on my car as a hobby I’m also a forklift mechanic and I may use it some time for that but I don’t know which one to get I cannot afford expensive one but I am confused with the megahertz like some of them at 10 MHz some of them are 50MHz I don’t know what to get If you can make a video for people like me who like to get a pico but can’t spend too much money and want to get lease expensive but would do the work I’m sure you’re the best for this

Good video bro. Could you give me some pointers as to how to customize my hanteck cc65 amp clamp to work with the pico 2000 scope?

I looked at a picture of that clamp and it appears that there are two settings. You will need to create a custom probe for each setting. for the "1mv/10mA" setting, you would simply use "10" as your multiplier (instead of 1000 as shown in my video). You will probably want your ranges to be 20 amps or less. For the "1mv/100mA" setting, you would multiply by "100" and it is probably designed for up to about 65 amps (I am guessing, based on the name of the probe)--although, as you saw in the video, you can go a little higher than that.

One more thing - the software probably already has probes that will work that are built into the program. Select "60 amp current probe, 20 amp mode" or "60 amp current probe, 60 amp mode." These probes use the same multipliers and settings as your Hantek clamp.
