How to create a city street scene on canvas with acrylics. Full video. 

I discovered the Chinese supermarket in the town I’m staying has a surprisingly well stocked art supply section, and well priced. I found these cool Sennelier Abstract 3D Line Acrylic pens, for under 3 euros each, and grabbed a bunch to try out. The canvas here is 50 x 40 cm.
I came to paint a beach scene in Espinho, a beautiful long beached coastal town in Portugal, arriving late in the afternoon, to try get ‘shadow light’, but the coastal wind was too heavy to set up a light easel. So after a quick dip in the cold water, I drove back realizing soon the light would be gone, so I made a quick stop at the historic municipal building of the town to paint a scene from imagination. Here I use acrylic paint filled pens as well as brush and activate the line with water and paint .
It gives an adrenaline rush to work without any reference or under drawing, you just have to start somewhere and finish somewhere..
