I am an artist with a style that has a strong bias in line and color, and who paints with a loose and intuitive approach. I work in abstraction and a stylised form of representative art, choosing figures, flowers, faces and architecture as my subject matter. This channel I hope is both informative and inspirational.
Julia thank you. I appreciate the comparison, I think it’s now almost impossible to bring a cartoon element into your work without comparisons to Basquiat but that’s ok, he nailed it !
Inspiring to see such bold marks. I like the rainbow palette knife bits. Thanks. When you said we creatives have to have the scene, I think of it as we have to express what we see. It’s innate… it’s sharing too, not greed so much as need!
Yes , good point. it’s like saying, Hey, look at this everyone! My mom was instrumental in that, for instance when I was a little kid, we’d walk around the garden and she’d point out say, leaves or how the aloes or proteas were showing, the specific flowers she loved and I’d say, [ realizing I was a young g man] oh big deal, they’re just flowers, and she’d say no, look at that, look at how that color works against that shape etc., She was working with a stubborn mind. But later I saw all those things.
Thank you, doing videos like these help me and hopefully can encourage others to take self help action to get moving again. The message is get up; Don’t go another day letting anyone’s words or their actions make you feel like you don’t matter. They’re the trash in that case not you.
I bought some of these the other day and am realizing it is a learning curve to use them, but it is worth it. Thank you for giving me another idea. This is great!
Thank you, Brandon, I think cubism is more broken up and showing different aspects and angles of the same subject. Definitely use anyone’s art as inspiration, but keep in mind to keep your voice authentically yours😉
Very nice. Thanks for not painting from a photograph. I'm so tired of people copying photographs and talking about art like they are some kind of artistic genius. It's really embarrassing.
Thanks Hyberol, I kind of agree but I think working from photos is great, perfectly legit, as long as yes, the end voice is the painters, and not a boring replica
Rita, thank you so much.. sorry for delay in responding, I don’t see when people leave comments, I’m sure there’s a setting I can get notified. Keep in touch.
I love this! I find myself laboring for far too long when it comes to painting and drawing faces in particular. I work at it to try to make it look as realistic as possible. Btw what kind of pen are you using to draw the sketch? It looks like a Tombow but I'm not sure since it doesn't seem to run.
Thank you for your comments. Yes it’s a Tombow, a little dry so that helps it not bleed too much. Also when I draw on a good watercolor paper, it won’t run as much as on a smooth surface. But the idea is to use more paint less water, in parts, and you can always draw over it when dry. Really just practice. Tombow is just convenient but it can lead to muddy finishes so you need to work over it and sometimes scrub that paint in.
I’m sure your following is going to bloom, Allen. You have considerable skills! I would like to develop such freedom. I also appreciate that you have interesting music/always something different there, too.
Wow. I love it at about the 2:00 minute range. But isn’t it so fun to PAINT! But wait. The woman appears. Fantastic! The tiny bits of white you leave are all-important. You are really good! Thank you!
That is so great, I have been working on semi-realistic portraits for so long, that I don't know if I could imagine or think in shapes, colors and lines like you do, thank you, MSG Leum
That’s a great comment.. because it just confirms our use of color / portraits/ art is truly subjective and can be realistic, semi realistic, abstract and I think if you ever wanted to change things up, I’m pretty sure you could it’s just.. do you want to? :)) or are you happy with how you paint and your journey? That’s the only thing that matters. Isn’t it really?
