I love that color for a 1 color piece. I love how it kinda looks 2 tone black/blue so it still gives it a lot of character, it’s just stunning & gorgeous. I like to paint with a brush so I’m so happy you didn’t use a sprayer & showed a way to get a smooth finish without using one. Especially for the top coat. I always love your videos there’s always golden nuggets of teaching techniques on top of beautiful gorgeous works of art. 🖤💙🖤💙🖤💙🖤
I love the dark hardware on the dark paint. This speaks to me the way the bright colors speak to you!! I still love you for your shining personality but that you post content for everyone and that you include techniques available to everyone. I would love to try spraying, but like you, the weather does not like to cooperate and I lack an indoor setup. Thank you for being you and ignore the detractors!
I have watched you do dark finishes before and frankly I'll keep watching when you do them because I can always use the reminder! There are a lot of steps and forgetting ONE ruins the whole effect. Thanks for teaching!
it's so true, its a process and you have to follow each step but it is soooo worth it, I try to find multiple ways to get to one ending so that it speaks to people differently!
Oh my gosh, what a difference between the two incarnations of that dresser! That color is incredible. Interesting color choice on the hardware - talk about all one color! I hope he doesn't have to get dressed in the dark! lol

The dresser looks absolutely gorgeous ... or handsome as the case may be. The rich solid color and matte sheen really enhance the details in the trim. Oooo, I love the tinted topcoat idea!!! I will have to play around with that. I'm guessing it also adds a unique depth of color to the final finish and overall appearance. 🤔
I absolutely love the makeover of the chest of drawers. I just finished painting a dark navy mixed with black chest and I love the color. I, too, mix a little bit of paint in with my top coat to try to prevent streaks. I've got to invest in a wide brush because it definitely covers more area than a narrow brush does. you are so welcome!! yes a good soft deck/ wall block brush and you can do so many thing it also makes a good neutral brush for blending when you need to soften everything!!! Thank you so much!!!!
That black-blue tone has been a favorite in our household lately too (different brand). So many fantastic tips here! And a gorgeous final outcome. He must be soooo stoked to have a dresser done just for him now. Beautiful finish!

I love this! I painted a cabinet and then lightly sanded it with 240 grit paper and I had all the white stuff everywhere and I thought I ruined it for the topcoat. So, I painted it one more time and didn't sand it and then put the top coat on. I was a bit disappointed but this makes so much more sense. My piece turned out well and the finish is nice and smooth but I think it could be better. Being a perfectionist I'm gonna try this method on the piece I'm working on now. Thanks for doing this without a sprayer too (I don't have one) I tend to not watch vids of pieces that are sprayed because I don't learn anything from that. When I get one and if ...then I'll watch those. anyway, thanks again! great video
I love how this turned out! I have a few pieces in my kitchen that are currently cream colors and I've have dark blue and white as my decor for yrs. My kitchen cabinets are white but I'd love to paint my accent pcs dark navy/blue (I collect antique blue and white transferware and Blue Onion pcs) I'm going to try this color on these pieces to create a cohesive look. As always, love your transformations and sharing how you create them. I just have to say it, pretty sure your husband will love this piece over the previous incarnation of the dresser. ❤
Loved it as usual. I think he would have enjoyed some gold gilding wax and some daisies. They really should make transfers featuring Jack Hammers, cranes, and tractors,
If it was for me I totally would have lol 😂 I wanted to have it be as non bling as possible for him but yes some gold would have been beautiful also, I had to hold myself back lol 😂
Having met your husband on the buying trip to wherever it was, I feel that he will really like it. I would like to see him in the final reveal reacting but I doubt whether he would say too much as is his habit. Thank you it was wonderful to see the transfer from not suitable to suitable

Beautiful, I have a dining table I want to do in a super dark blue, this gives me hope I can accomplish that project, love the idea of adding some paint to the finish coat. Keep up the amazing creativity 🙌🏻
You can also use a microfiber cloth (ring it out as much as your hands will allow) to remove the dust in between topcoats ❤️ I use the microfiber method when refinishing cabinets as well.
Replay. Some pieces just need to be brushed instead of sprayed. I enjoy the process of getting to know every bit of the piece when brushing. Thank you for showing the painted hardware.
