HOW TO CREATE A JOYFUL HOME. Today we are going to talk about how to be more positive in life. So many people ask me how I stay positive and joyful with everything happening with Jason. Today, I"m going to share some tips, that I hope can help you also!
MY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE:
2 sticks of unsalted butter (1cup) (soft)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
Combine- add two room temperature eggs one at a time, then 2tsp of vanilla, until creamy.
Add- 2 1/4 cup flour
1tsp baking soda
1/2tsp salt
Secret ingredient- 1 heaping tablespoon of Malted Milk! Shhhh 🤫
1 bag Ghirardelli chocolate chips (either semi sweet or milk chocolate)
375 Fahrenheit oven for 9-11 mins on ungreased pan, I prefer on parchment paper to hold shape! ENJOY!

I relate to so many things you shared. I entered the life of widowhood 2 years ago at 66 years of age. I too had walked with my husband through some tough times but like you did not let that consume my daily focus. A walk on a fall day, kicking through dry leaves and drinking in all the beauty of nature fills me with such joy. A campfire , a good coffee, a shared table, a phone conversation with my daughter who lives 5 hours from me… I think a life of appreciating what you have fills the joy cup to the brim. And then there is my RU-vid ‘family’ that I’ve subscribed to including a few channels like yours-people of faith that delight in making their homes festive and welcoming-sharing your journey -that too brings such pleasure to my day. I don’t listen to news!! Bless you.

I try to have order, but I can spend too much time in one room to make it clean and tidy, and then run out of energy to do anything else. I listen to the news on radio to keep me company, but since you speak about joy, I'd rather go outside and be in the garden. Perhaps, hiring someone to do some of the work will give me more time to get out in the garden as well as do other things that I ordinarily don't have energy left to do. To say something more encouraging about joyfulness, I think I need to start a business so that I can take real vacations to visit family and take them out to dinner. I always stay positive as you said, "keeping it positive", practicing smiling ". Thank you for your explanations on encouragement, Leslie. I really look for encouragement on RU-vid, and you worked really hard to figure out a good example on your theme to put on your channel. Thanks for the cheerful advice while making cookies for your daughter. May she enjoy both the baby and cookies.

@@Dydy-kv3yx God never let you down. We need to be reminded that we are all sinners and worthy of nothing. To think that God owes us, is just our human nature way of thinking. Most people go through many terrible things in their life. That does not mean that God is not there. He loves us, and the ultimate reward is not here on earth. We must believe that Jesus died for our sins, then we will have everlasting life. Now that is the ultimate reward and what is truly important. I’m so sorry you know longer believe in God. I’m guessing something very awful happened to make you feel that way. Sending you hugs and prayers for a better tomorrow 🙏🏼❤️

@@Dydy-kv3yx Those who say we don't know joy have no idea the joy we know without a religious deity lording over us. I enjoy this vlogger's videos and I appreciate her attitude. I tend to tune out the Jesus stuff and it's all good! She has great tips otherwise and she's easy to listen to. I like to have friends from all walks of life. :D

I did not grow up in a joyful house with smiles and pleasant talk. More likely angry, bitter talk and feelings about the world and everything within it. I remember being a teenager and crying in exasperation to my parents that there was no future and that all was doomed! They recognized their flavor of speech and felt badly but nothing ever changed. It's very important to keep a balance and teach children about faith and balance.

Thank you for this!!!! It’s been a really hard day around here. I’m my 24 year old daughters caregiver , she is a retired Navy Vet with a TBI from brain cancer, resection, radiation, and brain barrier breaking chemo. Some days are awesome and some just suck the life out of me. Today was the latter. Her brain just couldn’t deal today while out doing errands and she shut down. She was literally just lost and upset despite being with me. It isn’t the first time but it’s happening more often. Her Dr’s at the VA have prepared me that this is the best her healing will ever be and things will get worse not better. I’m trying so hard to make life joyful for us all. To be the mom my older son stationed in Hawaii and my 18 year old son need. To be the wife my husband deserves and the best caregiver/mom for Ellie. Your smile is contagious! While watching I’ve started a pan of brownies and made a list of Halloween shows to watch tonight with the family for some fun. On a side note Ellie will often watch your vlogs with me and always tells us how much she likes you and Jason and how she wishes you all were our neighbors, 😂.

God bless you Stacey. I am a TBI patient and I sympathize with you and your daughter. I don't claim to know your total circumstance, but I can share my own perspective. I often have trouble on errand days myself. The packaging of products in stores are designed to get all of us to purchase them. Therefore everything on the shelves are 'bringing attention' to the normal brain. But, to an injured brain, the stores entire products are 'screaming' "PICK ME, PICK ME!!" The traumatized brain can't always handle the perplexities of that type decision making. I find it hard, no, impossible, to determine what is important to see. My brain's filters don't work properly so every advertisement and label enters my brain as urgent (Not to mention noises). If I can't find the ketchup I usually buy, then the decision of which ketchup to buy becomes equivalent to deciding which surgeon to use. A bad errand day can mean a set back of several days. I "lose it" often while doing errands, because there are too many decisions. For me, I last better on an errand day when no one asks me any questions. I may be way off on my analogy to your situation. But please know that I care about your difficulties and your daughters difficulties. And that you are not alone. May the Lord bless you. Her healing isn't necessarily complete because the Dr. says so. Maybe it is, but maybe not. The Lord is sovereign over all. Turn your difficult day over to Him and have a good night's sleep.

@@monawhite6329 Thank you! Your evaluation of the situation was very accurate. Walmart was also extremely busy and Ellie doesn’t do well with crowds or noice. She only has 20% hearing on the left and zero on the right. Noisy place through her completely off as well. You are in my prayers Mona, thank you.

@@staceysmith4940 Thank you for your prayers. I am 5 years into this and doing pretty well with it. I was injured bad enough need assistance for a time and was under the care of 5 neurologists and several other doctors, but am healed well enough that I am able to maintain my job. I am able to communicate and I try to be an advocate for helping others in the general public understand the trials of TBI. God is good. I am praying Ellie will find improvement, and learn some life tricks that will aid her in functionality. That's what I had to do.❤

I have had 2 years of loss...to the point of just having my heart collapse around me. I lost my mother to Lewie Body Dementia and Covid. I know you understand. But instead of dwelling in my pain, I have been trying to seek joy. Today's post really went straight to my heart. I am still looking for joy and trying to find it. Thankful to have found you on you tube! I think I found you last year before my husband passed away from dementia complications. I’m a Christian and so are my family. My 29 year old son died suddenly and thankfully he was in Christ. That was almost nine years ago. You are absolutely right. Joy comes from a different place. There is no greater joy than to know the love of Christ. I think the reason I have stayed watching you as I love to decorate too! Everyone knows I change My home with the seasons rugs and all! I’m an artist also and love that our creativeness come from our creator! It truly brings me joy too! God bless you friend for speaking from your heart. But like you, our faith in God has gotten us through; one day at a time! God only promises to give us what we need for that day. You do have a terrific smile. I always try to smile at people. Well, you can pray for my husband. He's in the hospital with cancer and we had no clue until Monday afternoon that he had it. It has spread quickly and as you can emagine quite a shock to both of us. I can't wrap my mind around it. I have been praying lots. I figured out a few years ago that at least for me, I need to have things to look forward to. It doesn't have to be anything big. Yearly vacations and weekend trips are always something to look forward to but so is celebrating all 7 of my kids birthdays even though they're grown, or going out to eat or to craft fairs etc.

In January my 33 year old son was diagnosed with stage 3 liver failure. No tests have found the precise reason for this disease. He was given 18-24 months. Friends & family all over the US are praying for him. Sometimes I get weepy but faith in God's plan keeps my sane. You are an amazing inspiration to keep going & keep trusting. Boy, oh boy….I was in tears watching this segment tonight. My husband, at 67, has been living with Alzheimer’s for the past 2.5 years. I am a Christian, but I have to confess, my attitude has not been joyful. We have moved twice in the past 1.5 years which has added to the stress! Thank you for the encouraging words.

There is so much anger and ugliness surrounding is in a daily basis, we all need to take a moment of our time and smile, say hello to a stranger, pay for the car behind you in the drive through. I needed to hear this so bad today.. I use to be so joyful and happy all the time, but I'll be 68 Thanksgiving Day, and in chronic pain, so I'm unable to do all the things that made me happy and joy just slipped out the door.. I try to find joy buying new house decor and crafts, that I can't get myself to do..The one think that brings me joy are animal's.. Right now I have a black cat named Yuri and he makes me laugh and happy.. So, thank you for this very encouraging video.. Maybe you can start making a video like this a couple times a month or more if you can come up with different subjects.. One reason I watch your channel is because you are so joyful and you smile all the time.. 😘❤️🤗

I pray for you and Jason and would like to ask for your prayers. My husband is 78 has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. They did a lumbar puncture a month ago, tested and he has Alzheimer's. When he understood that there was a second diagnosis he apologized. He said he could see I had another thing to worry about. Thanks for this video and the reminder to gather joy around you.

I am 74 years old, and lots of exercise fun I cannot do. Sad! My husband dropped our bike seats to the lowest levels so we can get on and off them easily. Wow! Now we are cruising around together again. That has brought us such joy! Love the wind in my hair. Joy, joy, joy!!!

"The joy of the Lord is my strength." Nehemiah 8:10. Reading the Bible, prayer, and praise and worship has been my go to. Knowing Jesus never leaves me no matter what I am walking through in life brings the peace and balance I need. 🎼🎶 "Just a little talk with Jesus, tell him all about my troubles, he will hear my faintest cry and he will answer by and by." Kindness goes a long way in my life. 🙂

Much needed video right now. Thank you. I just lost my dad last week. We just had his funeral on Tuesday and I find myself okay but sad too. Moments of peace followed by moments of sadness. He was 88 with Parkinson’s. So I agree I don’t know how anyone gets through this hard life without Jesus. I need him daily. I would appreciate prayers of peace over my heart and mind. I know he’s in Heaven but it’s still hard knowing he’s gone. I also agree JOY is totally different from happiness. Happiness is temporary but you can have JOY even in the midst of hard times and suffering. Hope you share your chocolate chip recipe.

Your videos inspire me so much. I lost my 22 yr old son to leukemia in his 2nd year of college and what a nightmare that has been but I still find reasons ti smile and feel blessed as hard as it is without him here. He was my baby of three, 2 older daughters and as I know I’m so blessed to them it still does not replace my son. Thank you for all your warm heart touching vendors. I’m truly blessed to have run across your you tube channel. Prayers for your sweet hubby and I know how blessed he is to have you in his life. God Bless ❤

Love CC cookie dough but not crazy about it after it’s baked. 🤣 weird I know. Yes to the message you are spreading. I feel the same way about Jesus and God. Amen. I say Thank you everyday. For all of it even the not so great stuff. Dementia is a rough one and hard to understand if you’ve never gone through it. I hated every second of watching my mom fade away. BUT, I was so grateful that I got to go and see her when she was still alive. To hug her and tell her that I loved her. And no matter how progressed she had become, every time I said I love you she always said it back. Amazingly through such a terrible disease, the one thing that they always remember is Love. It really is the greatest gift. Thank you for spreading the Love. 🥰

What a great video! Meal time is special for our family. My two kids that are still at home are 16 and 20 and they always like to have dinner together as a family. They share their day with us and we talk about everything. It brings joy to my heart knowing they want to do this still at their ages. I agree with you about our faith. With Jesus I would be a complete mess. Life is hard and without him, we would all be lost.

Being kind brings me joy. It’s so easy to be critical and mean…to be kind takes some thought. A kind and encouraging word bring me somuch joy. It says I care about you, your important, you matter. Training people in the service industry, I always tried to explain that many times people are having a very difficult time. A simple kind word or smile can truly help them. Just giving them a reprieve from their problem with peaceful interaction can make a huge difference. I know it sounds silly, but I always try to be helpful and friendly to all that I meet. So much drama and stress in the world. I do not want to be a contributor to that. Just started watching your channel recently. What a wonderful man Jason seems to be. Thank him for his service and his sacrifice, please. From a military family, and I truly appreciate both of you.

What a blessing you were in this video! I relate to so much you shared. I am also walking the journey with my parents and dementia. My father who was a pastor is dealing with Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body dementia. My mother has Alzheimer’s. My journey is designed by God, I know! It was a wonderful reminder to smile. I pray faithfully that I show joy in this journey.

I saw this video and could see what a beautiful soul you are. I would like prayers for my daughter please. My oldest daughter was born with Down syndrome and on August 1st she diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia Philadelphia Like. This is one of the roughest types of cancer to battle and survive. She started chemotherapy and is going through a very hard and ill time. I need as many prayers as possible because I want God to hear us and give her healing. I had her 27 year’s ago when I was a 14 year old little girl myself. I am suffering from depression due to this and my other 3 kids are heart broken. My 23 year old son, my 9 year old girl and my 2 years old baby girl miss her very much as she has spent most of these 3 months in the hospital. My daughters name is Maryliz and she is a very loving person that has never shown hate, selfishness, or dislike towards anyone. Thank you so much, Claudia 😊 God bless everyone here!

I enjoy your sweet smile, your bubbly personality, your decorating style and your adorable hubby Jason. I work from home while my husband still goes to the office every day. There's a song I think it's called My Jesus by Ann Wilson., one of the lines is: "His love is strong and his grace is free and the good news is I know that He can do for you what He's done for me, let me tell you about my Jesus.

I loved this video. I too, pray, read my Bible and laugh, sometimes I think too much. I was a speaker for my job, I was a trainer for Alzheimers/dementia, one thing I always said, smile, stay positive, pray and focus on someone else's need. I pray for you and your situation, I was a caregiver for my mamma who had Alzheimer's, I know your walk, your pain etc. It's not an easy journey, but you're right, without God we can do nothing. I have been sick for six years and I try so hard to be positive! I agree the best is to focus on the positive. My issue is I can’t do too much physically. So I need to make changes with getting more help with my home. I love to keep it nice and perfect, but other family members are not interested. All I can do I hire and do what I can. So it is hard on me at times. I will keep trying and removing some things after we have some major work done after a plumbing flood occurred. I pray to the Lord to give me the stamina and give my blessings to all the people that find themselves in a similar situation. The joy that is stealing my joy is pain and very tired. Best to all!♥️♥️♥️ I send my love to all and hope we are mindful of how wonderful life can be.

Leslie, your video couldn’t have come at a better time in my life right now. I am a Christian and I have allowed my joy to be stolen and have been saddened . I’m on FB a lot and With this video one of the items that I am seeing that FB is:stealing my joy. With all that is going on in the world , politics , mandates, families divided by vaccinated vs. unvaccinated, it is so depressing . I haven’t read my Bible or prayed like i should have this week, but got on FB .. where I am drained . Thank you for encouraging me to get back into God’s word because if anyone is going to fill me with joy it’s God. God bless you . Please pray for me to remain steadfast and be focused on the positive and not let the negative be the focus . Thank you so much . Loved this video .. Great video! Our pastor said each day we should "Smile, Stretch and Put on Jesus! after hearing this I think on it every day now. I was just thinking on decluttering things but not having the time because of working full time and commitments. I am going to start working slowly to accomplish this ! Thanks

Thank you! I really needed this right now! As a full time caregiver for my husband with dementia as well as my 97 year old mom and stepfather - I cant tell you how many means are eaten in silence, as I am just too tired or frustrated. I am going to work on makeing meal time more joyful for everyone. I know they would all love that and I can do better.

Vickie- I am going to pray for your day to day. I just lost my father to dementia & it has taken a toll on my family to say the least. He lived at home with us (3 kids, college & highschool age) for a couple of years before he had to go to a home which was so painful in & of itself. I wanted him with us till the end. I understand tired & frustrated. Take care of yourself. The stress, guilt, etc has taken a toll on my health. My father would never have wanted that. Best, Colleen

My husband also has LBD. I’m constantly decluttering and feel so much better with less. When you were decorating for Fall in your dining room I was thinking you needed to make it more simple. I always enjoy your videos, Leslie, and to hear your faith testimony in Jesus was such a gift !!! I always try to smile and encourage others and feel so good when I get that laugh or smile back from strangers as I try to make them feel special. I am thankful for so many blessings in my life but I still cry a lot over missing my sweet husband since he passed 6 years ago. His sudden death has broken my heart and no one really knows the depth of my pain.
