making a tutorial is a craft and you are just brilliant, i watched a bunch of tutorials on kaleidoscope, and i was never able to regenerate the results, you masterfully pointed out the pit holes.this is a hidden gem
You probably dont care but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend during the lockdown xD
I love this, thank you so much. Another thing to try with this setup is to apply Smooth Shading to the Kaleidoscope, and perhaps even go wild with a Subdivision Surface so you can have more than 3 mirrors!
Thanks! This is awesome. Probably the a very good alternative for the unfree photoshop plugin software "Tile Builder" that I've tried many many years ago. Only limitation I guess is that this method is limited to the wallpaper groups that can be generated via kaleidoscopes. But I think these are the only ones that automatically generate nicely seamless tilings anyway.
FXcellent. Now if you can do a tutorial how to make the kaleidoscope music responsive in Blender, that would be golden. I know. We always want more... I subbed in the outside chance you are able to do this. Thanks. Oh. Possibly one way to do it is to animate it according to peaks and valleys in the music. Long and tedious though...
That is a cool idea. I'm not sure whether there's any automated functionality in blender to accomplish that. I know after effects has something like that. I'll do a bit of digging
Yes! That's exactly what I'm going for. I used Arduino and a sound sensor to reprogram an led light rope i bought from Home Depot. Its controller crapped out, so I now have my light rope back bouncing to music.
This is such a great tutorial, but I have been racking my brain - does anyone know how I could make this with a transparent background in the PNG file as I would like to layer another animation over another thing - I would be soooo grateful!
Can you make more blender tutorials? If you want I could give you ideas of some stuff I made and will show you the nodes or process! No need for credit
Haha, sorry about that! The animation bit was not the main focus of the tutorial, so i assumed people either already knew how to set keyframes or could figure it out
