I appreciated the level of specificity of what you covered in this video, Martin. In particular, I was glad to see you talk about the different aspects of a professional headline on LinkedIn. I just went into my own headline and made a few tweaks. :)
Many thanks Mr. Effective :) A clear and encouraging presentation ! Stumbled across it whilst trying to get over the frustration of uploading material to a discussion group !
Video was informative and loved the outline breakdown (1,2,3) to help viewers and first timers creating a LinkedIn profile such as myself to understand and simplify how to create one. Great start up video as basis for first timers and those who have already created one to polish up on basic layout for existing profile. The video also helped me to view properly of other LinkedIn profile pages to look for key things whether you are selling yourself or seeking an expert. Thanks for providing your expertise Martin! I loved it!
Great video!! I was inspired by this video and made one on 2018 LinkedIn tips! Everyone should use LinkedIn so that you can connect with as many business opportunities as possible!
I had another idea of being an entrepreneur, I even thought it was asking for time, but the video focused on the importance of having momentum and independence at many personal and social levels.
Excellent video on how to make the most of LinkedIn. I like the tips on the 3 websites and how you can direct them to 3 different areas on your own website if you like.Nice one.
I'm glad I found this video. I find the presentation to be well organized and clear. I've incorporated most of the suggestions that were presented. Thank you.
It's cool how you explain this. It not only helps complete a profile but it also helps you think of exactly how we want to enter and work with our professional industry. It helps break the process down and gives tips on each step. Great job! Thanks for making this video! :-)
Thank you for sharing this information with all of us. It was very informative for myself and my kids who watched this with me. All three of my kids graduated college and therefore looking for employment and I felt that you made their ability to market themselves so much better. Thank you. However, I do have on question for you I am currently working as a teacher and would like to find online teaching opportunities but, do not want to broadcast my interest or that I am searching (in others words need to keep it more private. How or can this be done? Olenma Alvarez
Hi Martin. Thank you for posting this great video. Do you have any recommendations for establishing entry-level experience on the headline? Is "entry-level" the best way to establish the level of experience? I have managed projects in the promotional products industry for over two years.
Hello Martin, Great video! You really packed it full of usefull info. Having said that, a question: I was in sales for twenty years, I'd like a career change. All my experience is in sales. How to market my new skills(i.e. in IT)?
This tutorial has helped alot, this video has made me realize how undeveloped my profile is, I have some work to do. Look forward to the next tutorial. Thanks
That's great ! What would add value to your video is 2-3 examples of profiles prepared according to your advises. I've looked into yours, but some others would be usefull.
Nice Presentation. I find it more effective to get away from the "what you do" type of language and replace it with the problems you fix and for whom. Executives don't really care about what you do- because there are so many people in the market that say the do the same thing you do. This creates an indecision by the hiring authority because they don't know who to choose because they can't differentiate LI profiles or Resumes. Executives don't hire people on what you do any longer. What they really care about is the operational business problems you can fix.
I'm about to graduate from university in December. I have had 9 internships in PR and Marketing. I'm also currently looking for my 10th internship, possibly in advertising or marketing. Since I'm not technically an expert in what I do (because I haven't done 10,000 hours or have 8+ years experience in my field), what would be your recommendation for my headline? I currently have "PR + Digital Marketing Professional." However, after watching this video, I might change that. Great video!
Hey, thanks for your video. I am new to Linkedin, have been in my present job for many years, and want to move on, so I am trying to learn all of this. I learn a lot from seeing what other people do as well with their resume's, profiles, etc, but does everyone get notified every time if I click on their profile to read it? Thanks!
a great intro to using linked in. Am re entering job market and have heard that linked in is a common search data place for employers. Thank you for posting. A fan Called Rhonda
Many thanks for your valuable advice. I'd like to ask you if it was any Pdf material for this lecture. I will be glad if it was. At least the key concepts. My kind regards from south of Egypt to you
Great video! An optimised LinkedIn profile goes a long way. We have a few LI Profile optimisation method of our own that really helped us and our clients get the attention of our target audience.
This video shares smart marketing theories while describing how to use the segments of a LinkedIn profile to showcase value, features/benefits, and proof of performance.
I have subscribed to many courses/purchased same.. and of course they go into specific examples and detail. This was a fantastic overview video and it should lead one to get a detailed course. I'm on linkedin and have an affiliate link to one of the better courses so if anyone is interested, please reach out to me..
Hi Martin! I find this video very useful, no doubt you know your work. However, a was wondering if it is smart to state your level of expertise in the headline, especially if you are a Junior, like me. Wouldn't that be sending a wrong massage, like you are not qualified enough? It would be great to hear you insight into this matter.
Hi Emilia, it might be smart to let people know that you are a proactive Junior investing to get the right experience. If that doesn't work you could as easily describe yourself as committed, enthusiastic, eager - all words that inspire people to get to know you.
FYI - in the past, we could backup or export a copy of your LINKEDIN contacts to a file that EXCEl could open to see their names and emails. Sadly, LINKEDIN has deleted this "CSV file export" feature since the last few weeks. Now, you need to click a button to export ALL your ACTIVITIES (ALL my connections, my posts, my followers, INBOX EMAILs, etc) as a huge ZIP file. And you can't export / backup this data every hour or even every day. Even after I downloaded the zip file the day before, the next day, I cannot download the current contacts zip file. (maybe they allow one download each 72 hours???) which is silly. Yesterday, the emails of contacts / connections was missing from the ZIP file as well. So, I can't get a backup of my own Linkedin 1st level contacts..?? Wow, I thought all my contacts data in my LInkedin belonged to me...Guess they think I don't have the right to access my own data..
How can I make my own website? I am looking for an entry-level job, do I really need to make my own website? How personal website can help me to land a job?? In my profile I have headlines, summary, contact list, interests and skills and expertise, still I don't get a call for interview. I am having very hard time to find a job. :'(

A website is not a bad idea to help land a job. If you do need to have a website, I would forget using free web builders like Wix. Instead I would build one your own from scratch using Wordpress. That way you have full control over your site, plus it can be free and require very minimal investment. However I would highly recommend maximising your LinkedIn before considering making a website. Optimize your profile first. Most people treat LinkedIn as a resume, which is wrong - it's a salespage. Most people seeking a job only display qualifications. You should be also displaying examples and past work, Can be videos, blogs etc. Secondly, invest in a premium account (job seeker package) the cost is small but gives you advantage over most job seekers on LinkedIn. Hope this helps!
