Just and short little tutorial on how to make a mirror image of a character in anime studio!
I tried uploading this a little while ago and didn't realize that it was corrupted when I tried to edit it. I managed to recover it but it is not the HD version so sorry if it's a bit fuzzy!!!! :)

could you make a tutorial on making a cape? flag, cloth, etc like "flowing" (lack of better words) in the wind kinda like AS 9 Jai.....

+Shinini Hi Shinini! I really need to do an update for making cloth but I'm not really too good at it yet. Your tutorial helped me a lot, Thanks! However just FYI, I think the mirror mask can't be applied if you have Motion Blur activated. In my case, I've noticed if Motion Blur is activated, the mirror masking doesn't work when rendering, even when it shows the expected results at frame 0. However, other masked layers in my character (shadows and lights) still render correctly even when Motion Blur is activated.

any tips on making a character fall into a hole? and out of a hole? (portal, wormhole etc) I think this could be done with masking....

Hey, ShoNuf93, I have a question: I found Anime Studio Pro 11 and Moho 12 Debut for about the same price on Amazon. Which would be better overall? What are the pros and cons? Smith Micro has comparison charts, but not for 11 Pro vs Debut 12. Thanks!

JustWasted3HoursHere defiantly get anime studio pro 11. You'll be able to do much more with t than any debut. Debut want let you do certain smartphone actions or use particles and some camera functions I think it's just a stripped-down version of the program so I always go with pro!

That's a little trickier TH. You'll have to make two complete characters, one front view and one for behind. you can then rig them the same way and make one character control the movements of the other with bone controls. I think I might have to make a tutorial on that sometime too!

How can we do it without a reference layer? In Anime Studio 9,5 pro for instance.

Hi Yamamoto! You can do this without reference layers by creating you r entire animation for your character first,then duplicate it when you're done. This way your copy will have the same exact animation. Flip your copy and mask it out just like I did In the. Idea to finish! Does that help? let me know!

2:25 - 2:30 How could you move bone of the original character while the copied character was doing the same?

hưng chu It moves the second character because it is a reference layer. It will copy the movement of the original unless you move the bones in the copy. That will break the link to the original character.

You kinda went warp-speed past the one part of this tutorial that I was actually interested in --- how to flip a layer. I can not find ANYWHERE on Google how to do that in Moho 13 - and you went by that part so fast that I couldn't really get it from your video either.

Hi Sophia! To flip a layer or a group of layers, select the transform layer tool (T) and then in the top menu click on either the "Flip horizontally" or "Flip vertically" buttons at the end of the menu. It's the button I click at 0:40 in. It will flip anything on the layer OR in this case every layer inside a group folder which also can be a bone layer group.

I'm not sure what you mean by "better". I could create different characters with different styles but I like the style I use. But you can use the same techniques I show in my character creator tutorial and just make your characters in any style you like. You use the same principals, just depends on the artist. Anime Studio and MOHO have a ton of other characters included in their library so I'd check those out too!

I'm guessing you're wanting something probably like Jay's Life from Kartoon Management. Check out KM and hit up Lionel a.k.a. Toonman. He's one of the top successful animators on youtube and he does more realistic characters. He's a much better animator than I am! ru-vid.com/show-UCPijpPlQcmdCK6njGZCObig
