Thank you for the one sentence that said, “prune the sides to encourage height, or prune the height to encourage thickness.” I have spent hours searching for that exact piece of information. Everyone talks about pruning for looks or shape. All I care about is height for my certain situation, and this was super helpful. Thank you again!🎉
I cracked up when he says, “I like these neighbors, but I don’t like those neighbors”, lol. But I’m in the same boat; gotta find the right privacy hedges.
When new good neighbours move in replacing bad neighbours, and new bad neighbours move in replacing good neighbours, you'll have to turn your whole land 180 degrees.
I live in a hot dry area and i found the perfect privacy hedge wall. Nopal or prickly pear cactus. They grow big and they dont need any watering or care and grow relativly fast plus i get fruit from them and even the leafs are edible. They are like a natural barbed wire wall
Golden bamboo space every 3 feet. Amazing growing, mine can’t be snowed to death it stands right back up. Mine is 16 feet plus tall. Tip: get clump bamboo it’s modified to stay ins. Clump. Golden bamboo is amazing.
Great video. Thank you!! My neighbor's they sit outside looking at my house and question everything I am doing. Smile on my face and report me on my back. I got a fixer up house. Thanks god everything I do I got permits for it etc..
Very entertaining. If not for my neighbors and people driving fast through my neighborhood for their shortcut, I would live in a literal paradise. They motivate me to plant hedges, put up fences, and get rich-that's for sure.
I have neighbours on both side that are crazy snoopy I have a chainlink fence I’m growing hops and sunflowers Virginia, creeper, clematis, scarlet runner beans and making trellis’ out of willow poles
My own little gardening paradise.....(sigh)yeah, that's what I need. Where I can wake up at 2am and walk around the garden in my billowing nightgown , and lay in a hammock watching the stars.... and no one will think I'm trying to seduce their husband or think I'm batty. that's what I need. I get along with my neighbors pretty good. Only one gives me a vibe has the potential of becoming a pain....I just don't bother with that one.
Lilacs are a good tall high growing bushy shrub. I like to grow them in a raised bed about between waist and knee high in staggered placed beds so you can trim, prune and maintain them.
The first hedge is very beautiful and looks nicer than standard hedges we have in Texas. Would you please tell me what it is? And, is it deciduous? Thank you very much.
We've just planted 12 potocarpus along the rear of our house to block ugly neighbors house from our view across the canal. I've lived in this house 30 years & don't really care for fences as hurricanes always blow them down, so going with something a little more bendy. Italian Cyprus grows fast & thick too but will take several seasons to achieve privacy. Great video, thank you for posting !!
I bought 150 young bare roots north privets 5 years ago from arborday foundation with $1.75 each(member rate, it was cheaper to join $20, in order to get the discount due to the quantity we bought), dirt cheap. Only took two years to grow and provide the privacy I wanted. The only thing I had to do at the beginning few years was to fertilizer the bushes in the spring, then I let them do their thing from the third year. They are very fast growers, I can let it grow in heigh, but just need to trim the hedges on both sides to make it look nice and neat. Compared to those wood/metal fences, mine is a lot cheaper. I love our loving fence so far. I should have done the hydrangea hedges though, but it wasn't in my budget at that time, because hydrangea 4.5qt cost about $20/each, vs $1.75, huge difference.
I love videos about gardens and the neighbors that want to rule over you and your own property! I don't do that to anyone and I hope maybe some people who harass their neighbors will watch these videos and realize it is wrong to do that. Your home should be a refuge and a place of Peace to feel you have privacy! Not a place where you are constantly harassed! The "privacy" hedge may help I hope!
Forsythia. Grows tall and bushy and fast. Your neighbors will be out of sight by the end of the summer. Cut it back every year or two, and mulch what you cuf off, so you've got a sready supply of woody mulch. The down side is that they can grow wide so might not be great for small, compact yards.
I am still looking for a good fast growing and ever green privacy plants and trees for my backyard. My backyard neighbors are so annoying …I have no words to describe. I don’t know how people have so much time to keep a watch on someone. They even have a 2nd floor window looking into my whole backyard. Construction companies must be mindful while placing such windows on the buildings.
What is that tree called? Is it able to grow in the woods? I ask because basicaly years ago we had a Fire that spread through our woods, only burning the bottom flora, lessening the denseness of the woods lowering our privacy. We like the sanctuary our woods provide us and i'm looking for something to plant in the woods here in texas, that will give us that. Thanks.
We need privacy from nosy neighbors. I want fast growing hedges because we need them now. But will the roots grow fast to cause damage to the neighbors pipes because our homes are close?
I have a bite vinyl privacy fence around my yard, and the very back 4’ or so, slopes down. He landscaped up to the slope, but now there are weeds, etc. in that area. My dog and the dogs behind me bark constantly at each other, and last fall they actually knocked down some panels of the fence! I need to keep my dog away from the fence, so do s anyone have any ideas of bushes I could plant along the back that won’t get higher than 7’ or so? We have wires here. This is a real problem, unfortunately.
Why does this guy remind me of a Batman villain haha but dude killed it and made me chuckle. I’m in the same boat .. out neighbour is actually insane and cut a lot of our trees down.
I want to know about that vine fencing in back of you. That's what I'm looking for. It gets thick and I'm trying to keep in my couple kitties and my tiny dog. I need to find something that isn't poisonous.
Who else thinks that that neighbor lady is hiding somewhere on the other side of that fence listening in on his video or peaking out of a window watching or listening?e a like if you agree. You can feel the peep factor coming off from that house, to bad they got a second floor you know she could be up there and you can bet its pissing her off every time he mentions her in his video and you know he is mentioning her multiple times intentionally because he knows that there is a good chance she is listening and peeking in on him and he want to piss her off. you know she is just sheathing with rage and hate somewhere there on the other side of those bushes and fence.😁
Sometimes your neighbours are weird it doesn’t matter what you do it’s not a reflection of yourself ...... some neighbours don’t want to be helped or take the help but stay nosy... no offence everyone has the right to privacy
Ivy! Great for wildlife and birds. In the Netherlands they sell the iron screens with the hedges nearly fullgrown on it. Around 120 euros for a screen 120 × 180 centimetres. Only need to plant it, and secure them on posts, a sturdy fence or a wall. Comes in many varieties of shrub and Ivy's. Really a one-day solution. Perfect. Also FlexFences are great, a per moment adjustable french-louvre "curtain" for outside. 140 × 180 centimetres for around 120 euros plus the costs of 14 planks and two posts. 😉
What a waste of time. Never tells you the name of anything! Was especially interested in the first bush - does anyone know what it is since for some unknown reason he chose not to tell us?
Brick wall is permanent and instant if your really anti-social. Problem solved. If your neighbour is the nosey one, call them out everytime. Embarrass the hell out of them.
Is this a garden hedge or the entrance to the Darien gap? It looks awfully untidy. When I think of privacy hedges I think of neatly trimmed junipers or boxwood or cypress not this weedy looking crap.
idk what a couple people down below have problems with, but i liked the vid. No neo nozi, and I actually dig the hair cut. - I'm a guy and I'm bald lol. wtf is wrong with people. I dont like seeing my neighbors either. Prefer to keep to my self.
Can’t wait to put something up he follows me from front to back of the house I can’t even put the trash out without him coming out his door to watch me
Next question is what the heck are you doing laying naked in the sun that you dont want the lady next door looking at you through the fence...lol lmao. Like my neighbor hes very nosey. He looks over when im in my night gown feeding my cats or im in a shirt with no bra planting a plant. I have no privacy. Whats the name of these plants!!
They take a really long time 10-20 years to get big, but I’m confused why he needs such an immediate privacy hedge? What sort of nefarious or illicit activities might he be engaged in?
Just have a frat party every weekend rent it out on air B and B, let the lawn grow wild, board up a couple of the windows, park junk cars in the driveway and put out old furniture on the curb, they’ll move out in no time and then you’ll really have privacy!
Yes he is a closet alt-righter, he wants to live in a homogenous culture where there is very little diversity or immigration, but is too afraid to admit that.
