A before-and-after side by side would really help because all we see is your beautiful solution and not the problem that it actually resolved. Thank you
I can't afford to make this a reality however I got enough inspiration to get my DIY creativity motivated with faux materials. Thinking outside the box and within my budget. Problem solved. Great video.
Beautiful designs. Ideas can be used on a smaller scale for those that couldn't afford the whole enchilada. Just one trellis wall or a couple of strategically places plants can make a big difference. Thank you!
I have a two-story apartment building looking into a very messy neighbor’s yard. From watching your video, I’m ambivalent between the Italian cypress and the Bamboo in metal trough. At least there’s a more tangible solution now. Many thanks for this wonderful video!!!
Yay ♥️. I am SO HAPPY that u found this video helpful! Let me know which way u end up going with the screening. Have a great day. Thanks again for watching and commenting
I didn't expect to literally lmao watching this, but I did, and it was enjoyable to be honest. The constant repetition about the unsightly neighbors, all their unsightliness, and all the unsightly activities we might have to suffer through was super entertaining. OH! Those unsightly neighbors!
@@BackyardDesignGuy I am an English teacher and it's a question of finding similar or other interesting adjectives. I am learning as well. Do please check out my paradigm expanding content on my channel. W content creators must remember to do our writing/scripting beforehand. Note to self!!!
Thank u again for this advice. It's quite embarrassing to listen to see myself but more embarrassing to listen to myself. Obviously, those were different sound bites at different times but should have scripted it out better. Thanks for the resource too. Have a great day
😂 poor guy/channel is getting slaughtered for not posting images for more affordable fences, and I want those too, but thank you for putting up a free video that we can at least get some inspiration from. Would love to see a "how to diy" on creating a privacy wooden screen fence
@@BackyardDesignGuy I'd love any suggestions you might have on my issue which is side yard along the garage with already paved sidewalk to the backyard. There are about 2-3 feet between the sidewalk and the fence line. Neighbor next door puts up a pergola that is about 12' high and I'm not staring at the tin roof of pergola from my bedroom window. Do not want to do bamboo. Cypress would block my sun. English Laurel does not grow high enough. Any suggestions you have would be totally appreciated.
It's tough to imagine the space without seeing it. Would u be ok with sending an email with some pictures or video and mentioning this comment? Info@paradiserestored.com.
The white rectangular trellises on the fence and the trellis on top of the arbor by the hot tub were inspiring. I think I can do something similar in my much smaller outdoor space with my much smaller budget. Thank you for sharing!
I love how "calm" and "thoughtful" your video is! It's something that I can just stream while I work on other chores at home--to be inspired and happy.
Seen somebody put up a privacy fence. New neighbor demolishes the quaint little ranch or cape next door. Erects a giant plastic and particle board eyesore (house) 3 floors high, looking down into the other guy's yard. Good fences no longer make for good neighbors. Acreage makes for better neighbors. Or better yet, no friggin' neighbors.
I absolutely love your imagination over the top for some....... and those that can not go to the $$ that they have created in life use your imagination to stay within your budget....this is what life is about creation!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do what you have come to do with your $$$$$ ...love what you can do within your means and you’ll be blessed!!!!!!
I really love how soft your voice is and how you take time to show each pic. So relaxing and also something I can do at my place. Money has nothing to do with how good one can make a place look good! I loved watching this!
Paradise Restored Landscaping & Exterior Design - You really are too kind to all these people! They can't figure out how to plant shrubs and evergreen trees? They can also go to Home Depot and buy some lumber and build a screen if they don't want to wait for something to grow. I don't know where they get the idea that they need to build outdoor kitchens and fireplaces!
Kudos for being the first channel (at least in my experience) that eventually replies to each one of the positive and negative comments... And there's tons of both!! 👏
When you start calling their neighbours homes " unsightly ", " ugly ", ' mess ' or whatever, it is unbecoming of you. But your solutions are absolutely stunning.
What da? It is a video about people wanting privacy or a way to block unsightly neighbors' yards. If you care a lot about those things, why would you not want a screen to block it out? Why is telling the truth unbecoming? Everyone I know wants privacy due to these exact reasons. This poor guy got bashed a million times for posting the incredible work he did and mentioning the reasons people paid him to do it. Geez.
This video is awesome. Thank you. I am a DIYer and willing to take a chance. I really need the privacy from my neighbor in back. Excellent job. Thanks for the ideas.
Love your screen and fireplace ideas. I have a few of my own now thanks to you. Costs these days are a bit high for me so a simpler easier DIY will do. Thanks for sharing the beauty you make😊
That screen you are in front of is EXACTLY what I would love to have. I look out at their weeds and junk. It's my dining room-I don't have to worry about what they look at-it's bedroom with curtains never opened.
Terrific video. Thank you! Wonderful to see what a little creativity and thoughtful design can accomplish. There were plenty of ideas a DIYer could tackle and lots of inspiration for bigger projects if the budget warranted. I especially liked how you incorporated art into some of your screens to raise it above the ordinary. Well done!
I appreciate this comment very much! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment on our channel. Yes, we are creative with our designs and installations but we are also working hard to improve our skills in the way we shoot and edit our videos! It just really means a lot to have a community of people who appreciate our work. Thank u again
I was surprised to learn that in some places you need a permit to pour cement in your backyard. I was able to find out that in my area the only thing I can work around for privacy DIY was a Pergola and doesn't require a permit. fences can go up to 8 feet .I love the Idea of the Bamboo-in-tin-cans!
Nice! Yes, it's crazy that some local jurisdictions and cities do not allow certain things. Also HOAs can have their own requirements. Happy to hear that u can do what u would like to. Have a great night
I'm addicted! Stunning work. !! Most impressed with the actual forethought that goes into these. Nothing is "Happenstance". Some of this stuff makes my wallet hurt and I'm not even paying for it, LOL. It is aspirational, like reading architectural digest - but even with that I find something I can take away from these videos.
Putting a TV outside defeats the purpose of having an outside ... just my two cents. If you're gonna go out into your garden, don't go there to stare at just another screen, enjoy the nature that you're lucky to have.
I disagree. In Australia with our bigger blocks we have enough room to create a great outdoor space and garden as well as an outdoor living room to give you the best of both worlds.
That is nice. My neighbors installed a batting cage. So all I see is a net and metal poles over looking my yard with two big bright lights. I get it they are trying to keep their son be better. So the bamboo idea is great. The bad thing is that it will cost me so much money being on a budget.
Wish I had your ideas years ago! My neighbors kitchen windows look straight into my living room and there is a 3 foot tall (worthless) concrete wall between our properties. Unfortunately, there are a couple magnificent old tea trees I couldn't bear to remove. So I planted a row of pittosporum, Australian rosemary underneath themto block some of the nuisance. They are just starting to grow tall 4 years later. A fence or screen would have been helpful during those years. However, the property line is covered by the block wall with concrete about 2 feet underground, so it was challenging to build a structure there. Looking forward to seeing more videos about creative solutions from you!
I love being in places where feels like I’m in paradise in privacy with a jungle feel and have outdoor exercise equipment and lounges with outdoor fireplace or barbecue
Thank you! I love that too! That pic was when it was just planted. It has matured and completely filled in and is magnificent now. I can't wait to photograph it again and show it off...
Paradise Restored Landscaping & Exterior Design this is the best video I’ve ever watched on ideas for privacy thank you so much I love it please make more videos if you haven’t already....❤️👍🏻🇺🇸
Hey thank you So much buddy, I just got a great idea! Blocking out my neighbors porch even though we both have acreage in new Mexico has been bothering me until this video thank you that fireplace idea is perfect
I keep coming back to this video. YT pushes it out to me but I cooperate by clicking LOL. These are fantastic and beautiful solutions. Regarding the perennial griping that goes on in your comment sections about having to be rich to hire your company and blah blah blah...I saw lots of economical solutions in this video. I especially love the living walls. They allow for complete personal choice and individual tastes.
Wow! Thank u for taking the time to comment Juan. I really appreciate it. It sounds like u have your backyard space figured out but if u need any help please don't hesitate to ask. Have a wonderful weekend
I feel very inspired looking at these beautiful ideas. I'm in Colorado and some of these ideas can work to give me more privacy and beautify the backyard. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind comment and for watching our channel ❤️. I am very happy you found inspiration and I wish you the very best with your outdoor space. Have a great night. Thanks again
So behind supply stores like Home Depo they have those big medal container trash cans, well you can find a lot of great things in them that are mostly in good condition. Things we’ve gotten we’re 4x 4 and larger up to 16ft, pallets, plants, brick, particleboard, corkboard, cement, basically everything they consider unsellable (totally a great find). So go check out what’s in their trash bins. You may not be able to afford it so go and hustle it.
Check your zoning requirements before you install any of these. Generally, no structures are permitted except fences and balconies in the legal side yard. Often there are footprint and height limitations for structures in the legal rear yard. The height and design of all fences are controlled by zoning and building codes.
Look for clumping bamboo. Ours grew to about 15’ and it doesn’t send out rhizomes. New shoots emerge at the base of the plant and can be cut at the surface to shape the screen. Works great!
John Sholian......Could you give me the exact name of the kind of bamboo you used? I had wondered about bamboo, but when I researched it, there were sooooo many......and then there were the ones that sent out runners or grew too tall, etc.
Grace Be It’s called Fargesia robusta. Also known as Green Screen. It’s worked out very well to screen out a house that was built on a lot that sits above ours.
Nice point. Many of these ideas would work for smaller size lots but some of the featured properties were larger in size. Thanks for the input, we appreciate your comment.
You're awesome! Thank u for your positive disposition. While many hateful we have had many positive too ♥️. I am excited that so many are watching.... Thank u again 🤗
@@BackyardDesignGuy I love my back yard and pool but the house behind my yard has an upstairs that completely destroys my sense of privacy. I haven't moved in just yet. Moving day is in 4 days. I was just wondering how innovative you would be in helping to provide some privacy from an upstairs neighbor with a garden wall idea that allows edible plants as well.
This was great, I have been researching "home landscapes pictures" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Giyily Landscaping Yatty - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy got great results with it.
Cheers for this, I have been researching "garden landscaping design" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Giyily Landscaping Yatty - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.
Cheers for this, I've been looking for "ideas landscape gardening" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Giyily Landscaping Yatty - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my work buddy got excellent results with it.
We move into our new home a few years ago. Guy on the other side of our neighbor is putting up a fence. Over the next year we learn why. Annoying neighbor... so we put up a fence. Another year later... the people behind him are now putting up a fence lol. Annoying neighbor got his yard fenced in for free.
I spent $50 for a privacy screen from Amazon in 2016. It's 6x60ft. Similar to a wind screen on a tennis court. Dark green. 90% blockage(see thru 10%). It has grommets spaced 4-5ft along the edges. Attaches to 6ft chain link fence with zip ties thru grommets. 100% privacy and cheap. And it looks nice.
Valerie K - I guess it's too hard to plant some evergreens in front of the neighbor's windows you want to block or put up a wall with slats? Use common sense! They're not telling you to build an outdoor kitchen!
Why are so many people saying its not affordable. Go buy some 4x4 sink them in the ground and lay any boards across for a privacy screen. Or you can put a sun shade on it or the cheap bamboo straw
beautiful, one caveat, my neighbor planted tress at the end of her property between us, can't see their yard from the first floor of my house and no windows there on the second floor so not sure why. The trees have now completely shaded my yard, no longer able to grow much in my garden and as they grow they are slowly creeping further and further into my yard. Check with your neighbors to make sure what you are doing to improve your property isn't damaging theirs.
Nice vid! Really solid design and making small tight yards have some legit privacy! That’s a must.. all you gotta do is pay some money and do it nice! Keep it up man
They would hold up well. Discuss these ideas with a local designer and they can direct u on local products or plants that can can achieve a similar result. Thank u for watching and commenting ❤️
This is a very neat idea! IF you live in an HOA however, please refer to your HOA Handbook. You don't wanna get fined for the structures in your backyard.
Well, seems like a high percentage as I am talking with people daily about doing these kinds of projects. I am sure my perspective is blurred as my website and marketing probably attracted the people that want these items and can afford them. I appreciate your watching and commenting.
Gaz Sto - What is y'all's problem? You guys are an ungrateful bunch! They don't have to make videos for you to sit at home and criticize! It's becoming very apparent why you're on RU-vid watching videos on "screening out the neighbors". You are antisocial vermin that no one wants to see or talk to!
@@ejohnson3131 haha got you all up an nasty. I am a carpenter myself and build stuff like this all day long. I was sympathising with the people who can't afford this kind of work and our workshop has a special budget and discount scheme where we build and install children's themed sets from swings to outdoor playhouses. I know the real world thank you and been around long enough to know the difference in what people pay for and for what people need. Screens are very antisocial, maybe you could be friendly for once and you might enjoy some neighbourly company, like we used to do many moons ago. Too many shutting out the world and we wonder why so many are isolated and alone at a time like this. I thought this virus may of changed people's attitudes about community and supporting each other and not shutting each other out. Thanks for the comment though, maybe you might consider living on an island like the rest of the unappreciated and ignorant minority that don't seem to comprehend where all in this together.
Gaz Sto - You make me laugh! You're calling the person who posted this video selfish and in another comment you said that if someone planted trees that close to your windows on their property, you would pull out a chainsaw? I'm not together with you in anything, gladly! Now buh bye! Go see if your social security check is ready!
